I used self fusing silicone tape as paint protector on door handle and door sill. I am not sure how it will hold up, but it's supposed to be very durable.
Unless you take the picture with flash light, it's not really noticeable...
Each roll is about 10'.
I removed the driver-side door sill protector today, and discover some rust around the rectangular holes where the tabs of the protector get inserted. There are also small rust bubbles in the paint. (Small as in 1/16" in diam.)

I thought I had it in the correct position when I removed the adhesive strips to install it but realized the next day that the curvature is not lined up properly causing a gap in between the bumper and the protector. My stomach sank when I realized this error.

At first, I suspected the license plate frame was the issue and also checking around the front end to see if there's are anything that stuck in the bumper gap, wheel wall, and underneath the car but the noise still there.
Finally today...I do actually found it...I tested by either removing or putting on a new 3M tape over one of the screw hole underneath the door site mirror. Over time, some will peel off or break losses and the "gap" is the source for the high pitch noise when you driving fast enough on a road. Mine happen at around 55mph.
Ever since I remove the sticker, the noise gone. One thing I'm not sure why there are factory stickers there. But I decided to remove it because I saw water inside the 3m tape after raining.
I am having a lighting issue in my ex with my passenger side headlight. when i first purchased the vehicle last august the headlight burnt out. i replaced it no big deal. it worked just fine for about 6 months and i have now replaced the bulb 3 times since. the last two times the bulb worked for about 20 minutes then went very dull. Now nothing. when i pulled this last bulb out saw a charged/burnt look to the vehicle side of the plug. What is going on and how i can fix it?

Can I somehow push it back into place and have it stay there? Is it torn or simply coming off? Is it purely aesthetic or does it serve any other purpose?

View 14 Replies2006 Lexus gs300.. Yesterday I lost all sound. No sound from the CD, FM, Tape, etc. When I turn the volume up, it doesn't even go from 1-62 nothing comes up at all. Plus when I go into audio settings, it doesn't let me adjust the bass or treble, and the mid is not even available there anymore, and the fade left to right and front to back is also un adjustable?

View 5 RepliesI went to an outdoor auto show the other day. When I got home I saw some white paint looking dots on my car. The dots are the size of salt, peppered on top of my car. I can only see it up close. I started using my nails to get them off, they started to break down and some of them started to have fiberglass looking "tails",after some effort I was able to remove a few. I can't see myself doing that on the whole car. Not sure if I should use the clay bar on it, I don't want to scratch the paint.
I'm going to try some of these tips tomorrow, but mine doesn't look like spray paint. It's like some kind of alien paint/fiberglass mix.
I have a am fm cd and tape player. the radio cuts in and out and goes through station frenzies only have problems with the radio.

Most of the time when playing music if the cable hooked to iPhone moves at all, there is a loud scruffy feedback type noise coming from the speakers. I've tried a few different adapters so I know it's not that. What this annoying sound could be??

My guess is it has something to do with the extremely thin/light metal used to make the car and the quality of the paint. I've owned the car for 2 1/2 years now and the problem is only getting worse. The dealership says I'm the only person to ever have this issue and blamed me.

View 4 RepliesMy 2002 outback tape deck, which I use primarily to listen to my phone via a cassette adaptor, has recently started making a very loud buzzing/humming noise. It does this with both my old and a new adaptor, as well as a standard audio tape.
I could try using a head cleaner on the tape deck, but my impression is that this isn't what typically would happen if the head needs cleaning, and I don't particular want to waste the time and money on a solution that I'm pretty sure isn't going to work, but I'm asking you all in case you know better than me (a real possibility). I just don't know if I should try that first, or if I should just go out and purchase a new car stereo that has either blue tooth, or an audio input plug so I can directly plug the phone in that way.
Also if I do go the way of replacing the stereo, is that generally a straightforward process? And would most replacement stereos be compatible with my vehicle, or do I need to be selective?
