In the right direction for my 2010 Prius? I lost one of my Smart Keys and I am looking at all my options. I "Searched" and info was scattered all over, and it is very specific to certain locations.

I go to lucksmith but they say I have to change the smart key Assay computer.
I've got a 2007 Prius and the buttons on one of the smart keys no longer works. With the key in hand, I can touch the door handle and the door will unlock. I can also turn the car on without placing the SKS in the slot. However the lock/unlock/emergency buttons don't work. Everything works fine on my other SKS so I don't believe it's something with the car. I've also checked the KEY button below the steering wheel - it's out.
I've just changed the batteries on the broken SKS. Even going as far as pulling the battery out of the completely functional SKS and putting it into the broken SKS. Still, the three buttons don't work.
My father took the car to the grocery store and lost the keys. When we got the car from the dealer we only got one set of keys and proceeded to order a second set. Forgot to pick the other set and when I did the key did not worked. They (the dealer) swapped the 2 last digits from the VIN number so they had to reorder the keys. In the meantime how do I open the car. It is a 2003 Passat V6.
View 13 RepliesI have a leased 2014 Toyota Corolla L, which came with two keys. The keys are chipped, but have no buttons on it - I have to insert the key into the keyhole in order to open the door.
I lost one a while ago and now lost the other one. Prior to that, I had several spares made, which allow me to open the door only (not start the engine).
Toyota dealeship told that because I lost all the master keys, I now have to get 3 keys from them and reprogram the whole car ($400 total).
A local locksmith says that he can use a spare that I have and cut a blank chipped key and program it.
Well heck, the PO of the truck I just bought has lost the spare key to the ignition, and the key that opens the tailgate and unlocks the spare tire. First question, is the key to the tailgate and spare tire the same key or are they different?
Second question, is there any simple way to have new keys cut for these things?
Does the key fob have a battery inside? I noticed that within the last week, my smart key fob isn't working correctly, hit & miss. It's almost like the battery is dying. Does it in fact need a new battery?
View 4 RepliesI don't drive a lot so on my 2008 Prius I could turn the smart key on/off with a button below the steering column and it keeps the system from constantly searching for the signal. That stop some of the drain on the 12 volt battery. My new 2013 Prius 3 doesn't have that button. Is there a way to turn the smart key system on/off easily?

View 3 Repliesrecently the remote locking buttons have been acting weird. The locking system itself may be to blame but let me elaborate. Lately I've been trying to lock the car with the remote, but sometimes it will beep once, lock the car, then immediately unlock it. This will repeat if I try it over again. If the car is locked, the remote at times will not unlock the car and twice I've had to manually unlock it.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Prius 2, the key will not open the doors, so I went to the store replaced the remote battery but it is still not working. The light on the remote lights up as usual. I can get in using the small metal key, the car starts and everything seem to be working fine with the smart key plugged in. The 12v battery seems to be fine as all the lights work when the car is off. What this might be?

Is there a way to get all the doors to unlock when you pull the handle instead of just the drivers door unlock. I frequently travel with a passenger and it would be nice to not have to unlock my door first, and then bend over and click the unlock button inside.

View 19 RepliesThe last several times I've gone for gas, the car won't recognize the smart key after fill up, either in or out of the slot. It does not recognize either of my 2 smart keys. I have changed the batteries in both keys. I am able to lock/unlock doors, but not start the car. The red light on the dash indicates there is no key. Dealer cannot find the problem. Eventually the car does start after some time (5 to 20 minutes) and I have not been able to identify what changes to make it so.
View 8 RepliesMy 2007 Prius wont unlock with clicking the unlock on my keys, or manually unlocking (it turns but does not unlock). I just took it for service 2 weeks ago and its been fine. I drove it as recently as yesterday no problem. I have both sets of keys. it just seems completely unresponsive.

It won't unlock the doors or start the car (neither wirelessly nor when plugged in to the dash). The other fob works fine. Are there any scenarios where a Smart Key fob gets rejected from the system?

View 19 RepliesI have a Prius i-Tech 2007. I had gone overseas and came back after 2 weeks. On return, the smart key just didn't work. It didn't open the door...I took out the mechanical key and opened the door. Then I inserted the key in the key slot and tried to start the car but it just didn't react at all.
