I used my rear windshield wiper for the first time today. Noticed that the back windshield wiper doesn't clean off the back window close enough to the horizontal bar going across the Prius V hatch? I have about 2-3 inches of dew remaining above the back hatch bar, which 'happens' to be the exact height of my eyes (I'm 6').

View 14 RepliesMy car was at the shop today for tinting and clear bra installation. On my way home, however, the rear wiper randomly turned itself on while I was on the highway. No matter what I did (flipping the REAR switch from OFF to INT, to ON, and back to OFF again), it still kept wiping, wiping, and wiping some more.
I'm taking this car into the service dept tomorrow morning so hopefully they can figure out what the issue is. I had a hard time talking due to a majorly sore throat.. but here's a vid I took when I got home:
The other day, I had the wipers going, every time when they went back down to the "rest" position, they made this weird movement with loud noises, JUST want to make sure that it is normal, seeking some feedback before going to the dealer.

View 10 RepliesMK7 So it rained for the first time since I bought the car. when pressing downward on the wiper lever it, the wiper arms began to shutter/jump when going back down to the rest position. When pressing up on the lever to just let them go on while driving I didn't experience this. Is this normal? She's only a week old.
View 16 RepliesThe clips on the cover broke so I bought a new one. Since they redesigned the 04 base, I have to remove the base. I remove the nut on the outside and the 3 on the on the inside after removing the cover. However I can't figure out how to pull the wiper off and replace the base. There is something holding it together. There is a pin that is connected to the inside that has a round hole but it is not a torx, allen, or any type of other tool I tried.

Short of turning off the engine when the wiper is in the down position, how it supposed to be accesse?
The window rolls down, not slams down but does not go back up. now I looked up regulators, and there is with and without motor...... could it be a bad motor? or the regulator.... what exactly is that?
View 5 RepliesWeird issue on my MK4 GTI. So it started out just as the rear windshield sprayer would work intermittently. Then the same happened to the front one. Then sometimes the rear windshield wiper would just come on by itself when hitting bumps on the highway. Now sometimes the front windshield wipers won't work, the rear doesn't work at all, and neither sprayers work.
So, where's best to start? I figured maybe the toggle switch is worn out. I haven't looked to see how hard it is to get out/test. I assume there's some linkage or wires I can get to once I remove the trim under the steering wheel to do a simple continuity test and see if the switch is working. Or would relays cause this? I wouldn't think that many relays could fail this quickly while running at normal voltages...

View 2 RepliesDuring recent cold/ice spell, went to use my rear wiper and heard a pop (there was ice around the wiper base), then the wiper was flipping all over the place. Now I can hear the motor running but the wiper doesn't move. Plus, I can easily move it around by hand - no resistance. Do I have to replace the whole motor or is there possibly a gear or linkage between the motor and arm that stripped or popped away, so that can be fixed? 2002 Hyun Accent.

I can only assume they stopped at the same time as the truck doesn't belong to me, I was just asked to see what it would take to fix it. I've looked it over and see no fuse and don't really have a clue where to start looking for the culprit of the problem.
View 2 RepliesI finally had enough of the annoying squeak-squeak-squeak of my wiper blades every time I used them. Time for a fix!
First, I narrowed down the problem by making sure it was not the rubber wiper blade rubbing against the windshield. You can rule this out by simply lifting the wiper arms up to the locked position and turning them on. If they still squeak it’s not the rubber rubbing against the glass.
By carefully listening I narrowed down the squeak to be coming from under the large black plastic cover on the passenger side wiper. From what I have read other Gen II Prius owners have had this same problem. I discovered that you CANNOT remove that cover without removing the wiper arm assembly. But it’s not too hard.
What could the cause of the rear wiper on an '06 RX330 not gripping well to the window be? Could it need a new spring, or could the entire assembly need to be changed? What troubleshooting can be done in this situation?
View 3 RepliesThe Prius that I bought brand new last October has developed a crack just above the driver's side windshield wiper. I noticed it today while washing the car. At that time it was about eight or nine inches long, and relatively hard to see due to being so low on the windshield. I inspected the crack very carefully and could not see ANY type of impact damage. After driving it around for the day, the crack has now splintered off and is going in a few different directions now. In a couple of places along the crack a few small chips have also broken off.

I'm half-way mechanical... OK , maybe 1/4. It appears that the blades themselves are not replaceable; only the refill (squeegee) portion is. is this correct?
Front-drivers-side actually looks like the complete blade may come off, but it's not obvious how it releases.
The rear appears to have no way to easily remove the complete blade.
