Prius (Gen 3) :: Random Single / Long Beep When Locking Via Handle

Recently, my Prius has been randomly giving me the single, long warning beep when I try to lock it by touching the handle. The car is definitely not still on, and the key is in my pocket when it happens. I've checked the doors, and none are ajar. It's not 100% consistent, but happens about 50-75% of the time. When it happens, I can lock the car with the key or keyfob - but touching the handle just gets me the long beep and no lock.

unlike a lot of my fellow prii folks, i love the beeps. My favorite one is the confirmation of locking the doors by touch of handle and also unlocking by touch. Believe it or not i even like the backup beep which is kind of like a nice confirmation of "yo, dude! we are going backwards" but the most important one for me is the long single loud beep. happened the other day when i got out of my car to get a coke and the car emitted a continuous loud shrill beep as i started to walk away. I was still in drive.

What a single beep followed by the word "Problem" across the top of the Touchscreen means? I can't find it in the manual.

For the last couple weeks, every time I shut down my car, it would beep. A single, two-second beep. It would beep after my morning commute and again after my evening commute. Every time, I would tell myself, "I should really look that up."
As is typical, I kept forgetting to search for it. I remembered seeing something like it and I was thinking that perhaps it was a low 12v battery warning but I just got a new 12v last fall. I put it off and put it off.

I am hearing a single BEEP, about every 4 minutes, when I am driving. What the heck is it? I can't figure it out, looked in the Manual.
I found the Internal Alarm on Page 432, don't think it is that. The key is in my pocket, the car is on, I am driving! I've also removed the key from my pocket and set it on the front passenger seat, darn BEEP continues.

It was such a nice day today that I popped the Sunroof open on my shinny new 2013 Prius which I haven't had a chance to do until today. When I parked the Prius and opened the door to get out, I heard a 'single beep' sound. Confused and not knowing exactly what that 'single beep' was intended for, I proceeded out of the Prius and touched the button to lock the doors. But due to my absentmindedness, I then noticed that I had left the Sunroof 'OPEN'.
However, I couldn't believe that the doors actually locked and the Prius didn't do any other kind of additional alarming with the Sunroof left open. So, I presume that this 'one single beep' I heard when I opened the door was intended to inform me that the Sunroof was left open. It's a good thing that I wasn't in a hurry today and noticed it because I didn't know what that single beep was meant for.

About 3 weeks ago our Gen III (Prius III with Nav and Solar) began generating a single standard duration (maybe 1 second, similar duration to reverse beep) beep each time the driver's door is opened. It only occurs with the driver's door and happens whether the car is locked, unlocked, started or not. We had our reverse beep-beep converted to a single beep about 2 months ago and now this single beep is annoying each time we open the driver's door whether we are inside our outside of the car. We could not find anything in the user manual that described why this beep would continue occurring.

I noticed twice on the commute this morning that my vehicle made a long beep sound after completing a left turn. There were no other warning lights/messages on the dash. The first time, I thought it was something coming through over the radio, so I turned it off, and the sound continued, probably for a total of 6-7 seconds at least. It's similar to the beep that comes on if you start moving and the passenger is not wearing his/her seatbelt. The radio was totally off the rest of the way and it happened at the next left turn I made (when I got off the highway). Although it was icy this morning, it was not particularly slippery at the intersections when I made the turn and I did not notice the TCS coming on, etc.

So i think I'm loosing my mind but i could swear that when i got my Pri V it beeped and locked doors once when i would touch the door handle or remote. For some reason now it locks the doors twice and no beep on locking. It also locks the doors twice whenever i put it in drive now also. Is this normal?

Occasionally my Prius will give me a quick what sounds like a warning beep after I turn on the car and after it has "booted up." It has only happened a handful of times over the last year or so. The only thing that seems to be in common is that it happens when my car is parked out in the hot sun for sometime. I especially notice it on long trips.
I recall it happening on a trip to Disney last year (really hot) and a trip to Niagra falls this year (fairly hot 90+ degrees). I don't notice any warning lights going on or, if they do, they are gone by the time I look at the dash. It may not be heat related, but what the beep may be?

I locked my 2013, and noticed there was a delay in the single beep when I locked it, Weird, went on with my day. I just tried to lock it again, and there was no beep or signal light flash. I tried my other FOB, same thing. Unlocking works just fine. I tried turning the car on and back off again, no dice.

I used to have other car that used to make a loud beep upon locking. My prius 2010 III is bit nimble and social. It blinks and makes a little chirp. I would rather need a loud beep so to locate and ensure my car is locked especially in noisy environments.

Is it possible for me to enable the beep when locking the car?
The manual says it should be there by default so I expect that it has been turned off. If it is a short beep, I would like to have it back.
Will I be able to do this once I get my SG2 working with my 2007 Prius (European) ?

For the past 2 days my car has started beeping when I open the door after I push the power button to turn it off. It flashed a red lock type symbol in the lower right side of the screen as well. What this is? I can't find out in the online dash indicators. The beep stops when I push the door lock down and shut the door.

I have a 2008 fully loaded Prius.
Keyless entry. it will not lock but pressing the black nubs or via either set keys. It some times beeps or does nothing.
I verified all doors are closed and there is no door open light on the dash. Every time I exit the car the car gives 3 beeps and the key light on the dash flashes.

There's no beep or flashing parking lights when I lock my doors on my 2011 Prius 2 when using the remote or the door handle sensor. I still get the 2 beeps/light flashes when I unlock. The lock beep was working fine and then just stopped. The doors still lock fine with the remote or handle sensor, just no beep/flash.

I started my 05 prius this morning, and it starts up and is running in normal time. But there's a constant long beep tone that doesn't shut off and after it starts it shoves the break pedal back out while my foot is still trying to keep it depressed. There's a brake light that is on after, but no error icon on the display. I didn't try driving it to see if it lets me, because of something possibly wrong with the brakes. What might cause this?

Our 2001 Prius has recently been having problems with the steering wheel locking (not in a position where this would be normal/expected, but in random positions--takes several minutes of wiggling and turning the car on and off to get it unlocked) and the key getting stuck in the ignition (just as if the car weren't in park, except that it is). They might be unrelated, but started occurring at the same time.

I just recently purchased a 2011 RX 350 AWD SFP w/ ebony interior for the wife. She loves the car and it drives like a dream.
However lately there's been a weird single beep that occurs every 15 minutes or so. I've tried replacing the key fob battery, making sure no interior/exterior lights are on, and making sure all doors/sunroof are closed. I tried locking the door to see if it works as well but no dice. It doesn't affect anything in anyway as everything is operating as it should.

I noticed yesterday that when I push the power tailgate button on the dash to open it, it made a single beep and didn't open. I could only get it to open the tailgate after I unlocked the doors. I also noticed that the key fob wouldn't open the tailgate from outside the vehicle while the doors were locked. I never noticed this before. Is this normal?

Last week I had to replace my tailgate handle while in the middle of moving. It was nice that it was easy, but it was a major hassle in the middle of a move! In light of having to do this, I was wondering if there are locking handles available, and if so what might you recommend?
