Passenger window......When I try to close the window with drivers side switch, the windows hits the top then automatically reverses, and stops halfway. If I close it with the passenger switch, it remains closed.

View 5 RepliesYesterday morning, I woke up to find both windows were down on my Prius after having locked it with the windows closed. A few hours later, I parked the car and after 15 minutes, returned to find the passenger window down.
Why is this happening? I can't risk this occurring again in a rainstorm or in the city. I am sure when I show up at the Prius dealer, I will not be able to recreate the situation.
About a quarter inch before it gets all the way closed it reverses and opens back up. I can stop it with the switch anywhere in between while it is closing, but not while it is opening.
It is acting like the bounce-back feature (as described in the manual) is activating, but the bounce-back override feature (pull and hold the SLIDE switch within two seconds of a bounce-back event) does nothing.
There are no signs of restriction, as it opens and closes very smooth and quiet, but it did make a loud pop sound the last time I used it a couple month ago. I can count on one hand the number of times I've used it.
I drove and opened the windows. I came to a stop and tried to close the windows but passenger window wont go up. the lights radio speedometer and everything work but windows still wont go up. i tried the switch on the passenger door also. no luck.
I accidentally pressed the window lock.
recently my friends driver window in her 2002 passat has stopped working. her car has automatic windows and im hoping its something simple. she doesnt know much about cars, but she says that the window was making a weird noise and her friends dad thought maybe it came off of the track. the window was rolling down halfway than bumping its self back up. than one day it got stuck down at halfway so her friends dad pulled it shut. And now the window is completely stuck up. all of the other windows are working fine.

View 8 Replies2006 Sonata. I had to remount the drivers window glass which had slipped out of the clamps and fell inside the door.
Afterwards, if using the window auto-up feature, the window reaches the top and reverse back down to about the one-third closed point. Using the normal (non-auto up) it remains properly closed at the top.
My first thought was it needed to be reset by the well documented hold the switch up for at least .2 seconds method. I've done that and it hasn't solved the issue.
There doesn't appear to be any unusual resistance to movement which might activate any 'arm in the window' type safety feature. (if it even exists)
I would also expect that type of thing to work regardless if using auto-up or not anyways.
When I startup my Passat, sometimes the passenger front window will go down automatically, then neither driver/passenger window switch will bring it up. Only goes up if I lock car from outside with key. Tried to (temporarily) remove fuse for power windows so I can drive to work (it's cold), removed fuse, windows did not operate, but car would not start.
View 2 RepliesI recently bought a used 2010 Prius and I've noticed that the Windshield wiper position on the passenger side stops below the windshield. This causes a slight "thunking" sound when the wipers are going. I'm trying to see if this is something that is relatively easy to fix myself. Judging by the position if I move the passenger side up I'll also have to move the driver side.
View 7 RepliesI guess the roof needs adjustment since my driver side door won't close if the window is up all the way.
Checked the roof and found there is a larger gap on the passenger side than on the driver side. That causes the unevenness of the roof, I think.
Passenger side window not operable from drivers side anymore, with the respective button. However, the windows does work when I try from the passenger side.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2000 Chrysler 300M. Recently I got in the car and shut the door normally, not a hard slam or anything, and the driver side window just shattered to pieces. After having the glass replaced I had my mechanic check out the window regulator thinking that may have have been loose or in some way caused the glass to break. It checked out fine, no problem with the mechanism could be found. I've been using the window since then for about 3 months with no problems. What could have caused this window to crumble?
View 5 Replies2000 Camry XLE. Driver's el.window quits on way up, but will start again if I wait for one or more minutes before retrying. The longer I wait, the farther up it will go. Not fun at toll booths on rainy days. Started a few month ago when I forgot to close windows and the controls got rained on. Initially, a blast of WD40 seemed to cure the problem, but no longer. Took arm rest controls out, but couldn't see any obvious problems. Is this an aging motor problem? Do I have to get ripped off by dealership serv. dept., or can any reputable garage do it? I'm worried about taking the whole panel off myself. Don't have the tools to do so, and don't want to rip "leather."

Problem: Today, i pressed Auto down for window to get some fresh air. When I pressed all windows to go up, pass went up 1/4 way and goes down automatically.
So i try again.. same.. goes up 1/4 way then goes down. I tried with pass side button. Same.
I'm trying to take a roadtrip in my parents Prius tomorrow, but when I got in it tonight to take it for a test drive the passenger side window refuses to go up.

View 1 RepliesI've always done everything brake wise on my vehicles but this is one I have never seen in all my years. I replace all rear pads about 2 months ago and yesterday i heard a horrible sound. Took the passenger side tire off and the pads are completely gone and it's into the metal. Both are worn evenly but both are gone. A quick check of the driver side rear revealed what looked like complete new pads and both of those pads are also worn evenly. My first thought was that the passenger side caliper was closing but not releasing. But I took it off and used the clamp to return the fluid to the reservoir. I fully expected it to be rough to get the piston to go in....unfortunately it went back in easily. For the hell of it I performed the same test on the drivers side and it retracted just as easily. I'm at a loss. I have a passenger caliper and pads ordered but id hate to spend $80 on a caliper if its not needed. Oh...the pins that the caliper screws to are also moving easily on both sides.
