Can I read oil pressure on my scan gauge II ? If so, how do I do it?

View 4 RepliesI have a 2002 Ranger V6 3000 with 100K miles. Can I add a higher viscosity oil since my pressure gauge is acting up. I changed the sending switch twice but the gauge still acts up occasionally. I was thinking of adding 10/ 30 on my next oil change. I do live in the area where the air temp is quite high in the summer. The truck runs well except for the oil gauge, in my opinion, is giving false readings.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2001 Ranger 4.0, 4x4 that just hit 100k and the oil pressure gauge doesn't show a reading for about 1 minute after startup. Also, the check gauge light comes on. What do I replace to fix this and is it something I can do myself? I am mildly handy. Would you worry about fixing it or just let it go because it's obviously getting oil pressure.
View 2 RepliesThese are my gauge readings at 70 degrees Fahrenheit. According to an AC conversion for gauges calibrated in Pascals, 35-40F converts to 241-276 KPa, 140-160F converts to 1000-1103Kpa. The gauges are in Mpa which by conversion is 3 decimal points to the left so .241-.276 and 1-1.103 Mpa. Here are my gauge readings at 68 degrees ambient temp. Rear air is same as an ambient temp on max ac and the front is pictured. There seem to be virtually no pressure differences which I would interpret as a novice that there is ) freon flow.
There is freon in the system with the high pressure being approx correct but the low side is too high if I understand correctly. Basically when at highway speeds at 75 degrees yesterday the front AC was cold and the rear was outside vent temp only. There are slight leaks in the low and high-pressure valves. I have a Mastercool replacement tool but they did not send a fitting for the high-pressure valve. What these readings mean as far as what may be wrong?
I could have sworn that I read somewhere on here how you can use the Scan Gauge II to change the reverse beep, but like they always say I cant find it now.
View 12 RepliesI have been having an intermittent (2 times in the past 2000 miles) oil pressure gauge not reading. As I own a 6.0L I understand that this is just a pressure switch in reality and if the engine was starved of oil the HPOP system would kill the engine. The first time the oil gauge went out it was raining out. The second time was after going through a carwash and getting the underbody wash. At this time my battery light also came on for a few seconds.
Both problems seemed to go away after an engine restart. Today it is snowing lightly and my battery light came on again. I happened to be monitoring the battery voltage and FICM voltage via OBD II using Torque app. At no time while the battery light was on today did the battery voltage drop below 13.5V. The FICM was also stable at 48.5+/-.5V.
As the battery voltage read by the PCM is not actually dropping and the previous oil pressure gauge and the fact that my left blinker indicator is out I am thinking I may have electrical issues with the gauge cluster. I have never had these issues while driving in dry weather. Where do I start troubleshooting this? Also I am going out of town for the next two weeks and my girlfriend was going to use the vehicle. Is it OK for her to drive?
I am about 50 miles from El Paso and 350-400 from home, broken down on hwy right now, all the dash lights lit up and my scan gauge says p0a93 the inverter pump thing. Nothing has been worked on or messed with so i should have no air in the lines etc
Can I drive it like this to El Paso or home? Car seems to be running fine. Car is under toyota warranty so i don't want to screw anything else up.
I have 2012 Prius C, I want to monitor my transmission fluid temp with my scan gauge II. I watch the MG1 and MG2 temps, which can get very high, like 215 F. I hope this isn't the trans fluid temp as well.
View 5 RepliesJust changed the fuel filter in my '04 6.0, no issues worked just like normal, filter primed truck started, great. Well now my fuel pressure gauge is reading dead 0, I know that can't be right because the truck is running, but noticed my fuel mileage seems about 2 mpg lower all of a sudden. Had R&R Injectors installed about 40k ago, figure it's just a bad gauge but wanted to check and see before messing with the frickin wiring. Also, have had a lot of pressure buildup in the coolant tank, has had head gaskets and studs, anything else it could be besides head gaskets? Have had a lot of wiring issues with this truck from the previous owner....
View 14 RepliesPurchased a used 2005 Prius with 30,000 on the clock. Have put 5,000 miles on the car with no problems. Recently the check engine light came on and my Scan Gauge indicated a trouble code of "P0000". Cleared the code and four days and 500 miles later the check engine light returned with the same code. Car runs great even with the light on. Have check the fuel cap which was and is tight.
View 2 RepliesI've been letting my wife drive the 2007 Prius since I've been cycling in to work. I got in the car last night and thought "Wow, almost a full tank". I then realized that only 1 pip was missing for 208 miles! The MFD was reading average mpg around 43, so this was bizarre. Usually the first pip drops around 110-120 miles.
By the time we got back home, I was around 220+ and 2 pips were gone. This is usually when half the pips are gone. Is this something I should be concerned about? Should I reset the gauge?
Driving on my original tank from dealer today from Upstate NY to NYC. On the way my C had 4 bars to begin then went to 3, then 2 after about 90 miles of traveling at avg of about 55mph. I watched the cruising distance go down to 1 but I still had 2 bars on my fuel gauge (and my crusing distance was conservative compared to my mpg reading the whole trip, which was hovering around 58mpg).
The gauge went from 2 bars to one flashing bar in about 1 minute. I pulled into a gas station about 2 miles ahead and put in about 5 gallons... this put the fuel gauge up to 3/4s or about 3 bars above the halfway mark. What gives? I know there are fuel gauge issues but I thought with two bars I would have had plenty of time before I needed to fill up on these roads with these mpgs.
The gas gauge on my 2008 does not seem accurate. I had three bars left the other day and when I filled up it took 6.5 gallons. Normally with three bars it only takes 5.5 gallons. Also, it stays on "full" (all bars) a long time.
View 4 RepliesMy ScanGauge just went blank, which was nuisance because I like to monitor it in the mountain climbs. It felt like a 'naked' dash without it. My separate pyrometer was the only additional info I had. The ScanGauge only has a few thousand miles on it. Wondering how reliable these things are before considering getting another, or inquiring about a fix I know I will first have to double check that the OBII port is still OK, but I expect it is.
View 11 RepliesI have googled for this and searched the typical sites but cannot find the PID to monitor the MAF with my scan gauge II. Am I blind or does it even exist?
View 1 RepliesI have had my PIP for just about one month now and I have only filled up twice. This car is awesome! I noticed when I filled up the last few times that the last block on the fuel gauge started blinking and my miles to empty reading was pretty low. However, when I filled up the tank, it only took around 9,2 gallons. Doesn't this car have a 10.6 gallon tank?
View 19 RepliesI'm trying to chase down a couple of issues and I need to be able to monitor the coolant (and oil) temps. I've downloaded the manual and the specific 6.0 X Gauge commands but don't see the coolant temps listed.
View 8 Replies2005 f350 6.0, parked in my shop and the batteries were dead after 2 weeks on vacation, (I left a few items plugged into 12vdc ports charging) charged it up and started right up. Next day cruising down the road about 75 the wrench icon showed up, strange. I reviewed my scan gauge and only thing not correct was my boost, it was 20lbs plus, idles at 14lbs. dash gauge appears normal.
Next morning I turned on the key, turned on my scan gauge engine is not running and the reading show 14.4lbs on my scan gauge. so..... adding the 14.4 to the scan gauge reading thru the drive cycle. so my computer thinks it is seeing 20-30 boost during acceleration. A bad sensor......... but don't know which one.
I'm looking to buy a used 2005-2007 6.0L and bought a ScanGauge to take with me when I look at the next truck I'll be considering. I dont have a truck now and I see that the ScanGauge derives power from OBD port of the truck. Is there any other way to set it up in advance?
