Prius (Gen 3) :: Navigator Don't Shut While Driver On Call
Mar 7, 2013
I got a 2013 Prius Three . My navigator talks when I am on a call. I thought the default would be for the navigator to shut up when I'm on a call. Any way to set this?

I have a 2003 Lincoln Navigator with 156K miles. The engine shut down without warning. Towed it to the nearest Ford dealership. They could not find any codes from the computer, but note that compression was lost in the left cylinder bank. The mechanics said the likely cause is a cracked cylinder head and this known to occur in my model year.

The nav screen on my 2010 prius has recently stopped responding to touch inputs. All the function buttons seem to work, that is, the map displays and follows the car, the AM, FM, CD, setup, info-phone, dest, etc displays all show when called up but none of them can be changed or adjusted via the touch screen. Any way to reactivate it without pulling the whole unit, maybe resetting or rebooting?

I recently started noticing that when I make a call with my phone connected via bluetooth, the phone number and/or name of person calling no longer shows up on the infotainment screen.. now it just shows as "private call" ... Why this is happening all of a sudden? It was working fine until recently.. how do I fix it?

I've noticed that when the Prius is shut off a few minutes later you hear a clicking noise from under the drivers seat. Sounds almost like a solenoid. It only happens when the car is shut down.

Still haven't hit 1000 miles on this Prius v and continue to have issues. Tonight, when I shut the doors, especially the drivers side, there is a rapid vibration under the drivers seat, but outside under the car. Any door does it, but especially the drivers door. If I shut the door very softly, no vibration. It's loud and lasts maybe a second, vibrating the entire time. I drove down the road and back. Same problem. It has never done this. I see nothing loose underneath.

Trying to connect a Garmin GPS with the car audio in Prius? It seems they could never connect. I have a Prius 2012 model.

I cancelled out my bluetooth because of a buzzing noise heard through the speaker when talking to people. A person on here had said they disconnected theirs and then set it up again and buzzing disappeared. I managed to disconnect it and followed the owner's manual to reconnect it but it keeps saying no device found.

When receiving or calling someone via bluetooth, they sound choppy on my end but they say I sound fine on their end. The music plays fine over bluetooth also. Have used 2 different phones and both do the same thing.

I have a Sprint HTC Hero. It worked fine on my Prius. I upgraded the phone from Android 1.5 to 2.1. I thought all was OK because the phone would connect to the car. The problem is that when I make a call or someone calls me everything looks OK until someone talks. Nothing. No voices. I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me.

I have a 2013 model 4 with the solar sunroof pkg, which included the upgraded audio, center console display. Just recently the Voice CALL command stopped working. My phone was recently re-paired with the car's Bluetooth and does work. After pressing the voice button on the steering wheel, I am prompted for a command. I say CALL "<first name> <last name>" and the response is "Pardon". On the voice command screen on the center console display, only the CALL command is greyed out. The DIAL command as well as the other common commands are highlighted.

I recently bought a 2014 Prius v, and I love most things about it, but so far I absolutely despise the way the audio system interacts with my iPhone 4S.
-If I plug the phone into the USB to charge it, the phone speakers will get silenced, and all audio will get sent to the car speakers. This happens even if the car speakers are off, and in that case the phone just goes totally silent. This would not be such a big deal except...
-The car often decides that I am on a call, when I am not on a call, and I am depending on the phone for Google Maps turn by turn voice directions. The screen on the car shows me as being in a call and silences the phone's audio. Occasionally it will play a brief bit of audio that sounds like it was recorded from within the car. If I push the button to hang up on the call nothing happens, and I just have to find my way to my destination without any directions. Or if I have enough battery I can disconnect the USB cable and get there using voice directions played on the phone speaker.
-The same issue sometimes interrupts audio playback when streaming audio from the phone.
-If I answer a call while I have audio playing, the audio keeps playing, and there's no apparent way to turn it off using the car controls. The car's next song and previous song buttons quit working too, so I'm at the mercy of whatever was on the playlist.
-I have to turn the volume up incredibly high to hear people who call me. When I end the call, the car suddenly starts playing a song from my iTunes music at deafening volume, even if I was not playing music before the call started.

I have a Prius Gen III model 4 and was wondering how I can clear the call history on the radio screen. I'm one of those people who regularly clears the call history on the phone, but there seems to be no option to do it on my Prius screen. I'm just using a Motorola flip phone that connects via blu-tooth and not a smart phone. I've read online that there is a delete call history area, but so far I haven't been able to locate that. Could be the system in my car doesn't have that?

My T-Mobile MyTouch with Android 1.6 OS paired fine as a phone and mp3 player. The mp3 player is less than perfect however.
1) When playing a track, the sound will stop for 1/2 a second at seemingly random intervals. It seems that it's more like the stream is being paused than the audio is just dropping out. I turned off all the auto-update features in the phone in case it was because the phone was checking for email or something. It still happens.
2) When I take a call, the music stops, the call happens, and when I hang up the music plays out of the phone. I can re-connect the Bluetooth audio manually on the Nav screen Audio option and it's back to the car again.

If I have my phone (iphone 5) paired up through bluetooth in my prius c and I am NOT playing any sort of music. Then I get or send out a call to someone, as soon as I hang up the bluetooth will start playing music through my phone. I looks like it is just opening my iphone's "music" app and playing the first song I have in there alphabetically. I looked around for any place to adjust settings but I can't seem to turn this auto play off.

All of a sudden, when I answer a bluetooth phone call, the phone call screen comes up but
1) Whatever was playing on my stereo doesn't stop and
2) Neither I nor the person calling can hear each other and the phone call ends.
What to do? I tried unpairing and re-pairing my phone and that did not work.

Brief as possible. Key stuck in ignition. Will come out when battery disconnected. Lift gate stopped working at same time. Believe that car does not sense it is in park. Acts like if the car is in neutral or in gear, in that if you turn the car off in neutral or in gear, the key wont come out of the ignition and the liftgate wont open either. The shifter is not stuck, rear hatch window opens and the car drives normally. Not sure if it is a switch or a sensor.

Here is what happened. I bought the truck used a few years back. The A/C clutch always made a clunking noise when it engaged first thing in the morning but then when restarting later in the day no noise. No noise either once it started up, the compressor ran quietly.
Then I recently went camping, it was just this past weekend and we had a bunch of rain. So I had on the front defrost mode on the heater for the windshield. I let the truck idle for about 15 minutes. The wife noticed that the truck was overheating (I have a Taurus fan installed and the fuse blew on the controller thats another story for another time, I got that fixed. I think it was because the clutch was trying to engage but couldnt and it made the fan controller overheat and the fuse blew) So I popped the hood and it was smoking under the hood. So I turned off the defroster and hear some noise under the hood. The AC clutch was not engaging when on the defroster mode and is making a clunking/grinding noises all the time now.
When I returned home I checked the fuse for the AC clutch and it was blown. So I replaced the fuse and it engaged the clutch by turning on the A/C, the clutch engaged and the compressor sounded fine and the clunking noise went away, it also blew cold air all the time the A/C was on, with this it looks like the compressor is fine.
Then I tried the defroster setting again to simulate what had happened at the campground and the clutch was engaging at first then started to slip and I could smell it burning. So I shut it off. The A/C clutch is still making a clunking /grinding noise noise and wont engage at all now even when turning on the AC.
So for a second opinion from all of you, does it look like I can get away with just replacing the clutch assembly? Also does the clutch assembly come with the new magnet, bearing, and plate?

I have a 2013 GS 350 and I think the display is kind of wasted space most of the time. The default view is to show the map which is in terrible resolution and the navigation is too cumbersome to be useful. When I need navigation I use google maps which obeys voice commands, is always up to date and has traffic flow information.
Is there a way to hack the nav screen to be more useful? Perhaps display items from the phone? Maybe some other use while driving?

My car's driver's side door is stuck shut. It won't open from the outside or inside. The lock still works (from the outside and inside). Sometimes the window will go all the way down and sometimes it won't. It usually sounds like it's running into something. We've tried using a flat hook through the window but can't figure it out.

How do you stop the seat from going all the way back on its own when you turn the engine off?
We have two kids in car seats in the back and it gives them no room to get out.
