For the past couple of days I have been hearing a window rattle. It is hard to figure out where the rattle is coming from, but my guess would be the hatchback door. It only occurs when I am driving on a rough terrain with a lot of bumps.
View 7 RepliesOK, I thought I saw where people were lubing certain areas for a clunk but it was a squeek.
Seems like over rougher terrain my 11 sunroof tends to clunk. However the painful part is I can't reproduce it on demand, clunk or a rattle. Its deeper in tone for sure and not a squeak.
I have less than 1000km on my new 2014 XTR SC. I had an AS 2.5/1.5" kit installed and a wheel alignment. There is a dull clunk in the rear when driving slowly over rough terrain(dirt roads n potholes). It happens occasionally when taking turns at lower speeds too. A friend who is a mechanic installed the kit and its the 4th kit he has installed for me. Never an issue.
The truck had to go to the dealer to have the remote start installed and they investigated the clunk and tightened up some nuts and bolts and its still there. They blamed the leveling kit and said its normal sometimes. This is definitely not normal! I've searched and can't find anything.
I have a new C, there's less than 1k miles on it, and I'm finding that when the driver's side window is down about 2 inches, it rattles quite a lot. Farther down (half way) it doesn't rattle.
Also something odd: when the window is all the way down, the door itself expands inward.
I have a 2012 Santa fe SE that with 22k miles on it. I have developed an annoying rattle in the back driver side door. I have gone around all of the doors with a screwdriver and tightened up everything but this rattle persists when driving on moderately rough roads. As odd as it seems I believe it also occurs more frequently on smooth roads when going around a left curve.
View 10 RepliesH2 weeks ago I bought a new Prius II and after giving my car a new wash this weekend I noticed small water marks on the bottom hatchback window. After trying to wipe them off with a microfiber cloth, they were still there. Then I tried Windex but they didn't go away. The only way I could get the water stains out was to scratch them off with my finger nail.
None of my other windows has this problem.
I've been recently very annoyed by a sound I can hear when driving between 5 and 40 mph. It sounds like the window or door seals/weatherstripping is repeatedly losing static friction to a shaking door or window. If I push forcefully outwards on the window the sound seems to be reduced.
I have about 22k miles on the card so far. I'm assuming I should go to a dealership, but I'm afraid some of them will dismiss the problem with some excuse or another.
My C4 currently has around 1500 miles on it and during a drive over the weekend of sustained driving over 65mph over hilly terrain I noticed my MG2 temps reaching 200F. Several times it exceeded 200F.
I'm using an iPhone app called Engine Link to pull the temp info. Noticed with a ScanGauge similar high MG2 temps during sustained speeds over 65mph?
From reading this board, my understanding is that ideally the temps should be ICE coolant > MG1 > MG2. But during sustained freeway driving mine actually is more like MG2 > MG1 > ICE.
I own my Prius for 3 weeks now and still could not figure out how to adjust the Hatchback door to be lower when open... My wife have a very hard time to reach and close it...
View 12 RepliesI bought carpet and loaded it into the PIP, needing to strap down the hatchback with the carpet sticking out.
As soon as I drove off both turn signals started flashing and a tone beeping.
The flashers stopped after a minute, but the beeping sounded all the way home.Very Annoying.
A while back I noticed the rear window washer wasn't spraying much water onto the window, then found water inside the boot (trunk) and saw there was water dripping onto the parcel shelf when I operated the rear washer and wiper.
As the car was only 6 months old at that time I didn't go fiddling around with things, thought I'd best wait until the 15,000 km service was due, which was today.
When I brought it in for the service I told the Man it was leaking. At pick up time he said they didn't find any leaks so I put the washer and wiper on and after a few seconds there was water dripping inside the rear window. So the car went back in to the mechanics who took out the plastic stoplight lens and after a few minutes the Man said that the plastic around where the water comes out was cracked.
OK, well fix it then I said. He felt it was unlikely that Hyundai would consider this a warranty issue. He agreed there was no other damage around the area and that I couldn't have caused this by backing into anything but I would need to buy a whole new lens.
Experience a rattle in the window up/down control area when any sort of bass lines come along in the song you're listening to? If I hold the left rear window switch in the up position, the rattle stops, but when I leave it alone, it comes right back! I'm the kind of person that goes nuts when something in the car rattles, so I gotta get it fixed!! A long shot, but is this something the warranty might cover?
View 3 RepliesI currently drive a 2011 Comfortline 6M. I notice that when i drive over rough terrain (roads, curbs, speedbumps) that i feel a weird vibration in the brake pedal and don't have any braking control. I have also noticed this in heavy rain conditions.
(Note: I have taken the vehicle to have the brakes checked at the dealer and they cannot find an issue. It also feels different than the ABS)
My rear window sunscreen appears to be the source of an annoying thud like sound most evident driving around town. Less so on the highway.

View 1 RepliesI'm having a problem with a rattle that's in the front end of the car. I only hear it when I'm driving over "off roads" (uneven terrain) and not streets. The sound is not entirely Metallic but sometimes I get to hear rubber against rubber. I already changed motor mounts and stuts mounts but the rattle is still there. Is there anything else I should look for? I've had this rattle for over 5 months now!
View 5 RepliesI have a 08 Accent Hatchback. The trunk door knob(the black plastic hinge thing which you pull to open the trunk, not sure if I call it right) does not reset. I mean after pulling it to open the trunk, it's stuck instead of going back. I need to press it to original position, so the trunk door can be locked. I can see a rusty spring behind the black piece of plastic. Not sure where is the problem(maybe the spring?). How can I fix it.
View 20 RepliesHave been to dealer multiple times with concerns about speaker vibration from rear passenger door and rattle when going over rough spots from same general area. They end up saying they have not heard anything and I end up feeling like I am losing my mind. Does seem to be worse some times than others. Last weekend I opened the door and tapped the area around the base speaker. Lo and behold, sounds like there is something loose in there. Seems like it is moving around freely at times and may be caught somewhere and thus quiet at other times. What might be in there? Any easy way of getting at it on my own?
View 24 RepliesA rattle has developed coming from the headliner behind the sunroof, I hear it when driving over rough roads. It seems most noticeable on the passenger side. I can replicate it if I thump on the headliner in the backseat behind the sunroof. I can make it stop if I push up against the headliner when sitting in the back seat. And I am pretty sure its not coming from the sunroof which has its own set of noises.
View 3 RepliesI got my all new Lexus but driver door has been rattle since 400 mile. It's like plastic vibrating and creaking.... I think it's the door panel is making the noise especially on rough road. When it rattles, I can place my hands on and share the vibration, then the noise would be somehow suppressed.
The problem is that I took it to dealer and they, as usual, cannot reproduce the problem! I took down the door panel myself, tightened all screws...and the noise...got worse....
My drivers door glass fell into the door while driving - took it to an auto glass store they want to charge me $200 to fix. I figured for that price I can buy parts needed and make the repair myself. what do I need to buy to get this working properly again?
