My car sat for three days in a parking lot while I was away. When came back I noticed a flashing blue light coming from just below the steering wheel and above the brake pedal at the edge of the under part of the dash. When I entered the car, and started it, it went away.

View 2 RepliesIn my 2006 Prius, I just started noticing this recently, but whenever I turn my steering wheel, it makes a weird noise and I can feel something going on through the steering wheel. It doesn't impede my steering, the car steers just fine... It's just an add sound, I don't want to say a cracking sound... but it kind of is? I don't know. I'll have to put a video of it up. & it doesn't matter which way I turn it, it still makes the weird sound and the intermittent vibration... I know it has E-steering and occasionally you can here the motor whirring when you turn it but this is different, it's a loud... popping noise is the word for it! Popping, and I can feel it when it pops through the steering wheel. Again, it doesn't impede the steering ability at all, but something isn't right I'm sure... Or maybe it's normal.

View 3 RepliesI recently had to put a clock spring inside the steering wheel. I aligned it and calibrated it, however, after this change, the VSC light keeps coming on. I have disconnected the battery, I have used the paperclip on the obd connector and calibrated, but it keeps coming back on after driving a few miles. The car runs great. Along with the VSC light, the vehicle warning light comes on also.

View 2 RepliesNew/used Prius owner here with a million questions. Only 1 today. When I first start the car a light pops up that looks like a blue thermometer. Does this mean coolant is low? Also, is there some grand legend somewhere that I can look at to see what everything means. Just ordered the manual but it'll be a few days until I get it.
View 10 Replies My R32 which has around 45k was running fine until I went to leave work. As soon as I got in and went to back up I noticed, I had a red steering wheel warning light lit and I had no power steering. It ran fine at lunch and had been sitting for several hours at this point.
I only have two other known issues with my car. One the starter motor is squealing and has been for a while. When the dealer looked at it, he said it would probably fail one day, but it wasn't something I needed to take care of now. I have yet to have a single issue actually starting the car. I figured I would hold off until I found a local mechanic I liked since it was out of warranty. The other issue is during two especially hot days my fuel gauge fluctuated and I would get the low fuel warning even though I had more than half a tank. They also looked at that and said it was just the sending unit which failed to respond several times during their tests. It hasn't happened since but it was on the to do list.
Is it common for the power steering to just fail like that? I have read that a low or dying battery will give off weird electrical errors so I am hoping it might be something simple like that or possibly a fuse which I couldn't check tonight.
If it is not something simple like that, what I might be looking at as far as fixing it goes? Of course it had to happen on a Thursday night so I don't even know if I will be able to find somewhere to look at it and I don't have a scanner. Also without power steering I don't really trust trying to drive it anywhere.
2004 F-250 6.0 Turbo Diesel W/ Torque Shift Transmission. Im having a problem with my Check Gauge light coming on and Tow Haul light flashing on my 04 F-250. I got a Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor from my local Ford Dealership. They also said i needed to replace the Transmission harness for this application because of an open circuit.
My questions are, Is Mercon SP the only ATF that can be used on the Torque shift transmission and do i really need to replace the harness or just the sensor? I have read up a little on this and so far everything say's drain the fluid, drop the trans pan, swap out the sensor, replace the trans pan (torque setting is 11flbs I believe, correct me if I am wrong, replace with Mercon SP ATF and your good to go.
To make things short.. took the car in last month for the recalls and now the steering column lock just came up with the steering light flashing. Never happened.. ever until I did the dam recall. Taking it back to the the dealer to see what it is. Maybe a loss connection.

View 1 RepliesToday a creaking noise suddenly developed coming from the steering wheel when turning left at slow speeds. I only have 600 miles on the Tiguan, so was a little surprised to hear this so soon. I have found many others with similar problems on VWs through Google... the problem seems to range from coil springs to tie rod ends. I am hoping that this is just a freak occurrence, but am taking it in tomorrow.
It sounds like "creaking" as if you were shutting a door that needs WD40. That's the best way to explain it.
Hit a MASSIVE pothole this PM at about 80mph... Car felt 'different' almost immediately. A subtle vibration coming from the steering wheel... which could also be felt on the dash, but ever so slightly. As if something was 'out of round'- OR is I had a bad bearing.
Pulled over at a gas station, but I saw nothing wrong with the tire or wheel. Was very surprised by this as I thought for sure I had a bet wheel or a bubbled tire. Only thing loose was the center cap.
Making an appointment this week at a dealer to check things out. Hoping it is just the bent wheel, busted tire, or wheel alignment issue... but thinking its more than that possibly.
What should I be asking the dealer to check for me? Control arm, drive shaft, strut, bearings... anything else?? I would hate to get the car back with the same vibration, and have them tell me 'all is Ok, we see nothing wrong'.
Just had the 1st chance to put car in 4x4 and noticed that the 4x4 light on the dash just flashes. I do hear a noise from under the car like it is engaging something but the light flashes.What could this be? The lever will go into 4 wheel low and appears to be OK.
When I activate the button on the dash I can hear something happening under the truck,and I am able to put the truck in 4wheel low. But I am still not getting the front to engage.
My friends 02 Camry A/C light is flashing. A/C compressor is not coming on. About a month ago I replaced the MG A/C relay with a Napa relay and cleaned out the cabin filter to fix same concern.
It appears the relay is bad again. Are the OEM relays recommended over the aftermarkets relays for this concern or am I overlooking something else.
See photo. My 2007 ES350 has a plastic coating over the radio controls that is peeling off. Looks ghetto. Is there a product I could use to replace this or at least make it look less ghetto?

View 8 RepliesI've got a 2009 Corolla LE. Everything is factory, no remote start, alarm or rust module.. It is equipped with smart start and has about 73000km on the vehicle.
The beep is rather loud, louder than seatbelt and seems to be coming from dash near the steering wheel. I have disconnected the battery hoping to reset something but the darn thing keeps beeping every 30 seconds even while it's disconnected!
Strangely enough I haven't found much on this it must be a very uncommon problem.
there's a noise that sounds like a seagull coming from under the hood near the steering wheel. Turns out it's the vacuum brake accumulator & there was a recall on this. Unfortunately I had the part replaced back in 02, so Montero won't fix it a second time. I only use the vehicle on the weekends & didn't see any reduction in the brake performance so I put the repair off. That was over a year ago. How important is it to fix this? Other than the really odd noise there doesn't seem to be an issue.... I'm just trying to decide the future of my truck since the transfer case is gone & I can't use 4wd or AWD and more. That's been broken & flashing about a year too.. On top of that the AC is broken & now there's a light tapping noise whenever the car is in gear, but not in park.. I really love my truck but am losing hope. Everyone says it's not worth fixing. 140,000 miles.
