Prius (Gen 3) :: Does OBD2 Scanner Consume The Power When Car Turns Off
Jun 24, 2016
I bought a KitBest mini Bluetooth OBD scanner on Amazon last week since my car’s engine light is away on when drives. This tool pairs with my samsung galaxy s6 perfectly, now I can get tons of information of my car. But I am not sure whether need to plug it out from obd port when the car turns off

Today I bought an OBD2 scanner and was trying it on my 2001 accent but the app on the cellphone ( torque ) said : " couldn't connect ECU " . I think there is no ECU in my car, any example about trying the OBD on a 01 accent ?
Link to OBD2 : .........

I've found lots of good resources here about disabling the backup beep with a bluetooth OBDII device, but I don't have access to an android phone. I have a windows 7 laptop.

I purchased a Gen I prius (non running) two years ago for a very low price and kept it in dry storage. At the time it threw a P3125 code on the ECROS scanner and would not start.
I finally have the non-running one in my own garage and am trying to get it running. The HV battery has been charged to 285 volts by a DC/DC converter I built. Last year the car would power up the ECROS OBD scanner and throw a P3125 code and I could hear the main HV Battery relay connect then disconnect. Now when trying to start it the 12 volt systems work, the OBD scanner from ECROS will not run, it has power, but no data - no OBD signal I guess, and no HV contactor noise either. I took the Vehicle ECU out from under the passenger carpet and replaced it with a good one from one of our daily drivers and still no OBD signal. I have checked all the fuses and no blown ones in any of the three fuse boxes. With the used Prius ECU in the daily driver, the OBD does work, the daily driver does not start, but no error codes.
Why does the OBD II not fire up the ECROS scanner in the broken Prius?

I hookup an OBD2 tester on my Prius 2014 Plugin and saw the OBD2 P0300 - Random Misfire. I did a reset and the error still came on. I also tested my friend Prius 2014 Plugin which is factory stock and had the same error. Wonder if that is by design or not. Going to take my ride into the dealer on Friday for my 25K maintenance and have them look into that error. P0300 can be anything. Hopefully doesn't cause more problems down the run..

Looking for the wiring diagram with colors for which port should be what wire for the obd2 connector for my early 99 f-250. I actually think it is obd 1 on our trucks but you get the idea. My truck doesn't have power to the plug I guess. I have a guy plug in a scanner to take a look at everything but he said the plug wouldn't power up his scanner. Just trying to get this fixed. Another question, if I buy a AE does that require the truck to power up the software or does it get powered my the laptop?

An OBD tester is reporting error code P1100. Checking online I have discovered that it is in reference to a Barometric sensor that is reading out of range. However, I cannot find any identification of the Toyota part number, its location, and whether or not it is a DIY replacement

Scanner found u0293,,,recommended reseal power inverter. what I have read for two days says its Power source ECU.. What happened,,,kids was driving car, had 3 phones plugged in, ac, lights, and when she tried to set cruise, car went into limp mode, gear lights flashing,,,went into neutral,,,stop beside highway,,had to be towed.
12 volt battery charged and tested ok. no blown fuses. I reset ECU by jumping pins 14 and 4. no change, tried master reset by holding brake and power button down, no change..removed ecu fuse to reset, no change.

Is there a way to check to see battery health with Dashboss? I know I can check charging system, but is there a way to monitor if the batteries themselves are going south on me?

I had a bad Glow Plug on my 2004 F350 6.0L Diesel causing the check engine light to go on. I replaced the Glow Plug and cleared the OBD2 error. The check engine light is off now, but I can't pass the smog check because EGR Monitor "Not Ready"
I put 100+ miles city/freeway miles on the truck, but I still get EGR Monitor "Not Ready" Even tried "Drive Cycle" with no luck...

I've been searching a way to read my check engine code WITHOUT a scanner (scan gauge etc...). I have a 2008 Prius and given that there is a lot of things that we CAN program just by presets, it would be surprising if there wasn't a way to read the error codes by some keypresses. Heck, in reality there should be a page on the MFD that just shows the error in english.

I am trying to run some diagnostics and get codes for my truck. Problem is the scanner won't communicate with the trucks computer. It's the usb elm 327connector and Iam using the forscan program.
Changed to ciggar lighter fuse. still not working. I think the previous owner had a edge program in it idk if that might of fried the pcm or is causing it not to read right? Do I need a better connector or are the pins inside the trucks communicater bad ?

Ok I've got an 01 7.3 and the scanner I'm using won't connect to the pcm. I had it remanned and put it back on still nothing. Took the idm out and swapped it for a buddies. Still nothing. All fuses are good. Scanner communicates with every other module EXCEPT the pcm. It was shutting down on my way to my mechanics place but starting right back up. Flashing wait to start and water in fuel lights. Also would shut my overdrive off.

I purchased a Bluetooth ODB II scanner off of Amazon which had all positive reviews, plugged it into my 2013 Prius this AM and the car immediately started beeping with the "Check Hybrid System Stop The Vehicle In A Safe Place" error. The car is functioning just fine but I'm concerned.. Is this normal? Should I have not plugged it in while the engine was on? I want to see if I can clear the error but I'm afraid to plug the module in again...

The Prius has 115ooo miles. It is a 2005. Just recently it started showing the red triangle of death, check engine light, and the brake light. When I check for codes using a scanner it comes with the following:
P0A80
C1310
C1259
P3015

My Prius has started throwing the code P0A80, it all happened after I went away for work and left the car in storage for 15 days, during that time I left the OBD scanner plugged in and it drained the 12v battery, a quick jump start and it was back up and running.
While I was backing it out of the driveway the warning triangle came on and the MFD said "problem" the scanner showed the P0A80 code. I thought that was odd, but maybe related to the flat 12v battery and self discharge of the traction battery so I reset the code, it drove normally to the shops. When I restarted it and started to drive it threw the same code again.
I then installed techstream on my laptop to try and get some more in depth answers but was having trouble getting that running on Windows 8. So overnight I disconnected the 12v battery and would try again in the morning.
I got techstream working and connected it up to the car, connected the 12v and started it. While I was configuring techstream to graph the pack voltages I noticed something odd, the engine was being loaded and unloaded in 2 second cycles, and at the same time the inverter was whining as it does this. I was thinking maybe it's doing some sort of charge and measure cycle since the ECU's have lost any pack data due to the power loss of the 12v battery?
It ran like this for 20 mins or so and the engine stopped, techstream showed pretty normal cell voltages, I couldn't see any wild differences between the cells.

My 1999 super duty v10 has thrown a code but my scanner and a mechanics scanner won't power up and read the code, I also noticed that the cigarette lighter is dead. Which fuse controls both the plug and the lighter?

I put the key in. I hit the Power Button. The light in Power Button turns orange. The car doesn't start. The key can't be removed from recepticle. The following message comes on the screen: "Caution: The transmission lock mechanism is abnormal. Park your car at a flat place and apply the parking brake completely." (Except it is already parked in a flat place with the parking brake completely on).

Where is the OBD2 port?
View 1 Replies
I bought myself an 06 MK4 GTI and loving it!!!!!! But, now to the problem. OBD2 port is not in its designated spot. I believe the previous owner had an aftermarket radio in the vehicle and put the stock one back in before selling it. Is it possible they could have pushed on the wires and pulled the port out of its little cubby hole? If I remove the radio should I have access to the obd2 wires/port? IF so is there a trick for removing the stock headunit or do I really need the special tab tools?

My Toyota Tacoma is reporting (via an affordable OBD-II scanner) the same P0420 code: First as a regular code, then as a pending code. What could that mean?
