I've noticed a slight distortion on my driver's side mirror. If I move my head left to right and back, I can see some 'wobble' across the face. I wonder if the cold has anything to do with it?
View 9 RepliesCame out from work today to find the driver side mirror hanging down. It is broken at the plastic swivel hinge where it swings in and out from the driver side door (should have swung it in!).
Currently I have it taped. It still works except that the whole mirror doesn't swing in and out. Dealer wants an arm and a leg to fix. Any tips on how to get in fixed a little more reasonably.
2010 Prius: During my first visit to dealership at 5000 mile service I told them to see what's wrong with my driver side rear view mirror why it is shaky. (It only shakes / vibrates left right NOT up down, and depending on the wind, road bumps have no affect) Obviously they could not duplicate it.
I called Toyota and Dealer wanted me to test-drive with a technician and show him the problem, which I did and technician agreed that there is a lot of wind induced shaking at the same time passenger side mirror is rock solid. They replaced the mirror with another mirror.
Now here is the problem, new one is also shaking. I am from SF Bay Area driving on 80, 780 and 680 near Fairfield (mostly windy)...
Well, as the cold weather has approached, a minor issue has surfaced.
It appears my driver-side mirror heater is not working. Both mirrors still move as they should, and the rear defroster and passenger side mirror both heat as the should with the defrost button, but the driver side does not, as it is cold to the touch and naturally did not melt the frost yesterday.
I looked at the fuses hoping it would be something as simple as that, but it does not appear there are separate fuses for each mirror; the naming is a bit cryptic, but it looks like there may be one for both mirrors, which logically would not explain the situation.
Seems to me the heater itself is defective, and I am not exactly looking forward to opening up the mirror and/or spending money to fix this...
The Prius is a 2006, and I am up to 256K KM (~160K miles) to date.
So I noticed a while back when I bought this car that my driver's side side-view mirror was a little loose. I didn't think anything of it back then b/c it still worked fine. Then just a couple of weeks ago the driver's side side-view mirror fell & hung by the wires connected to it. I can put it back to how's is supposed to be but it's really loose now. So I looked at the plastic pieces that hold this thing in place and I saw this:
If I put it back where it's supposed to be it stays up there but is very loose!
I was driving down the street when another car side swiped mine. There wasn't any noticeable damage, but the side mirror on my driver side popped out.
It doesn't look like anything is actually broken. The mirror just popped out. Can I pop it back in or will I need to get it looked at?
The reason I ask is I didn't notice any other parts of the mirror on the street, but can't seem to get it to pop back in.
I've just finished installing Driver Side Puddle Lights just under the mirror. I still haven't coded it yet.

As I want to use the electrical mirrors to adjust my driver side mirror, passenger side mirror moves too. Is it possible that these faults caused by not coded ECU?
I connected ground wire of my LED to blue and black cable connected to the mirror and ran another wire from unit 10 in 16 pin door connector to live wire from my LED.
I am just curious about my passat side mirrors ... the passenger mirror is smaller then the driver side?

View 12 RepliesThe other day I was sitting in my car and noticed my mirror on my driver side looked off, it was out of line, I went to go touch it and poof the mirror falls into my hand so i do have the mirror (not broken), how do I install the mirror back ?? I'm guessing it uses a glue but then how would that work with the heated mirror component? tried looking for a DIY and can't find anything.

Is there someone out there that can refer me to a parts diagram or simple instructions that I can follow to fix it?

View 4 RepliesWell I took the GX into a rough part of town in and literally left the car parked for 30 minutes, and I come back to find the drivers side mirror missing. Good news is, the thieves unplugged it, dare I say professionally and I have no ripped or spliced wires, everything is in tact. I found a mint condition mirror on ebay and bought it for a fraction of the cost the stealership would charge, however as simple as it looks, it is a bit difficult to snap the mirror onto the white plastic piece. I do not want to apply too much pressure and crack the mirror from the front. Any hacks on an easier way to put it in?

My micro fiber towel must have had some forein material in it. if I can order and just replace the mirror part? or do I have to order the complete assembly? It's a 2014 Avalon XLE with the heated mirror option. At certain agles I see swearl scratches right in the middle of the mirror.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2007 2.0T, and the signal light on the driver's side mirror flashes instead of blinking. I have looked around and not been able to find any loose wires or ones that look damaged. I also noticed yesterday that the left rear signal has led's missing, and it looks like it shorted out. I am thinking the 2 are more than likely related.
View 2 RepliesI'm the original owner of a 2000 passat v6 4motion wagon. For the past couple of years its been my wife's daily driver. Today I got in to drive her to work and at freeway speeds the driver side mirror wobbles to the point that its useless...she said its been that way for a while. Haven't looked into it at all as far as opening it up.
View 7 RepliesI've had this issue for quite a while. on and off for the beginning of me owning the car and now pretty much all the time. The driver side mirror will not tilt down or up. Only side to side. The passenger side works fine and even tilts down when i reverse.

View 4 RepliesIt seems that someone hit my drivers side mirror on my 2004 gx and cracked the shell. The mirror works fine its just the outer plastic part is cracked. My question is i see on ebay some for sale but im not sure if they are glued together or clipped in. How to take off the cover and if so is it easy or not.
View 3 RepliesI broke the mirror glass on the drivers side mirror. New glass was ordered and I connected all the parts back together. I believe I have everything in the correct place inside and the mirror snapped back into place, but the tension is not there. The mirror is very loose, and I cannot get it to tighten up.
The white bracket that connect to the new glass and snaps into the white motor is the part that I cannot get to tighten up. Do I need to add glue to this portion of the mirror?
