On the drive home tonight, I noticed a clicking/ ticking sound coming from the car when accelerating from a complete stop. I would accelerate slowly enough to keep the vehicle in EV mode for the duration of the acceleration. Not sure if this is normal.
View 2 RepliesNow that the weather has warmed up, I'm using AC once in a while. Whenever it is running, when I come to a complete stop, I hear a groan that lasts for about 3 seconds. It vibrates through the brakes a bit. This is only once the car has stopped, and only when AC is on. It goes away after a couple seconds, and is guaranteed to come back on the next time I stop the car. Is this just the compressor cycling on and off?
View 15 RepliesJust bought a new 'C.' 35k, and now 271k. After I come to a complete stop it makes a creaking sound like bad bed springs during hard and light breaking. I've baby this car, I love it, and I just want it to last for as long as it can. It's really annoying to hear every time after I come to a stop. Not before, not during -- right after (just like when you make a complete stop at the stop sign or red light, or just stopping in general).
This is supposed to be a brand new car. There's something wrong and it's not a normal thing for Prius's after you've start using it daily. I've never heard it before until today.
I bought a 2012 Hyundai Accent GLS just two days ago. It has about 38,000 miles on it. It's an automatic as well. I drove it home on the highway and was averaging about 44 mpg the entire time. Even while driving in town, it's got pretty good fuel economy. Everything about the car is great.
However, last night, I was driving around. When I came to a stop at a stop sign/red light/etc. and then proceeded to accelerate, I would hear this weird squeaking / creaking sound. I've heard it multiple times now since then. It doesn't do it every single time I accelerate, but when it does, it lasts for about 3 seconds and then stops. I've also noticed it does it sometimes when I make a turn and then accelerate. It's just a squeaking sound.
Is this something I should be concerned about? It doesn't do it every single time I accelerate, but when it does, it will last for about 3 seconds. I should also note that the car made the noise the first night after I had been driving for a while, so the engine wasn't cold or anything.
My 2006 package 6 just developed a ticking sound. Audible at stop without the gas engine operating. All gear positions the same. Sounds almost like a slow, little plastic fan that one blade is hitting something. Sound system off, climate system off.

Iv got a '12 Golf R and lately when I come to a complete stop I hear 1 single popping sound right before I reach 0 mph. It doesn't happen at any other time that I have noticed. What that could be? Where I can get a replacement Battery Cover?
View 3 Repliesthe other day i was driving with no music on my GS and i noticed every time i came to a complete stop, the brakes would produce a weird loud knock sound. it was rainning so i thought it would be from that... but then after driving it roughly 5-7miles the sound stopped... then since i noticed it, i hoped on my corolla to see if it had the same thing but no... only on my GS.. is this normal?
View 5 RepliesI get a grinding type of sound when I am braking but only when I come to a complete stop and then again when I release the brake. It is only for a second but it is loud and doesn't sound good. What could be wrong. It also is much worse when it rains.
View 4 RepliesI hate trolling for a diagnosis, but my trip to the dealer left me frustrated. 2011 GTI with 33k miles and APR stage 1 flash. Just within the last 2 weeks my car has developed a faint ticking sound during light acceleration. The sound stops when I left off the gas and is not present at idle. If I accelerate normally the exhaust note and turbo drown out the noise. How faint the noise is, if the roads are wet the road noise will drown the clicking/ticking noise out above 20mph. The dealer stated they could not duplicate ( raining today) and that it is due to improper install of the waste gate actuator rod clip.
The sound associated with the actuator was only present when accelerating moderately to heavy and sounded like rocks in a can. Not sure if an improper install of the clip could occur as it is pretty straight forward. I did the install over a year ago and never heard what I am hearing now.
Okay new sounds suck. I just noticed a strange metal creaking and clicking both when I roll to a stop and afterwards when I take off from a light. The sound is like a suspension sound but I can't put my finger on it. I did install a Neuspeed engine control arm bushing 2 weeks ago ,can that be the weak link. I'm going to get under the car tomorrow and take a look.

It is not when i am making turns, just sitting idle with the wheels straight.
I have had this for a year now. When I first heard it, I thought someone threw something at my vehicle. I would stop then be at the light then about a few seconds to a minute it sounds like a solenoid kicks out or kicks in... its pretty loud, my passengers even question it. I have taken it to the dealership 7 times now and I am getting frustrated as they do not hear anything each time. As I drive with them it doesnt do it... it seems it does it sporatically... Sometimes it does it after I have exited the vehicle and walking off, it goes through its normal electrical noises then clunk clunk... Strange. I have recorded a sound clip but they said they still have to hear it themselves and they believe it has something to do with the elecrical breaking system but they dont want to swap it out as its an expensive part as they want to make sure of it first... I think I am going to take it to another dealer..
View 8 RepliesRecently bought a 2015 Golf Tsi. i have done around 4000 miles. there has been a ticking and a "coin rubbing together" sound when accelerating until about 2200 revs. dealer could not find the solution... the car has been very jolty, and at very low idle speeds, very rough and stuttery. The video shows the ticking. Could it be an exhaust/fuel injector problem? [URL] .....
View 3 RepliesI need to locate an unwanted sound from my engine compartment. I am driving a Ford Focus 1.6 petrol engine/zetec (2000), mileage:166 000 km. It's best described as a clicking or ticking sound which is quite distinct. The sound seems to follow the "speed" of the engine.
Most likely the sound is coming from the drivebelt, and maybe from one of the tensioners which the belt is running on.
It's a visible wobble on one of the wheels but I am not sure if this is the case. It does not seem like the sound is originating from the engine itself but I am not 100% sure.

I am 98% sure my 17" chrome clad wheels are making a clicking or ticking sound as I drive. I took off the plastic center cap and the noise changed.. it's less than constant now.
View 3 RepliesI notice the brakes are very grabby right before you come to a complete stop. This seems to occur more when this brakes are cold. Is this typical with the gen 2's? Mine in a 2005 if that makes a difference. So far with 2k miles on the car I'm not a big fan of the brakes, but everything else I love.
View 19 RepliesI have about 05 with 110000 miles on car and have started to notice that the motor sounds like it is revving up when I come to a complete stop or even hyper miling. I have plenty of juice in battery Not Green and Not Orange. While at a complete stop if I switch from Park/drive/Neutral some times it will then shut off.

When I hear ticking I think of valve issues, but is a ticking sound totally normal for that engine? Is it okay or should I be worried?
I've been noticing that when I brake more responsively, I feel a bump/notch right before a complete stop. It feels like something that has to do with the transmission.
View 6 RepliesMy husband's 04 F150 has an occasional ticking/clicking sound that comes from the right rear tire. It occurs in both drive and reverse, while braking or while driving and will stop with braking. We cannot establish a pattern. Brakes are good, we just checked them and they do not need to be replaced. We took it in to be evaluated, of course it did not make the clicking while they had it and they did not see anything to indicate an issue.
