While replacing my rear cargo light, I seemed to have tripped a fuse and suddenly, cargo light + 4 door lights + dome lights stopped working.
Looked at the label on the fuse box cover, it's not obvious which fuse governs these, so I ended up testing ALL of the fuses (PITA), which are all good (used voltmeter to do the job). Everything else on the car works, power windows/locks for each door..
2004 F-150. Today, I noticed the map/dome lights wouldn't turn off no matter what I did with the switch. Also noticed the cargo lights were on as well. Pulled fuse #24 (appears to be good) and that seemed to fix the problem: lights are now able to be controlled by the switch. When I reinstall fuse #24, same problem. Also, battery seemed to be drained and the radio pre-sets were gone. Am I right in suspecting the battery saver relay? If so, which relay is it and can I replace it myself or is it factory soldered?
View 1 RepliesI'm having a problem with my interior dome light and my door chime bell not working in my '01 F-250. I found that the bulb was blown,so I replaced it thinking it might fix the door chime bell also, thinking they were wired together from the factory.
The new bulb didn't fix the problem. I recall that when I noticed the door bell didn't ding-ding anymore was about the time(when it got dark), that I noticed the dome light was out also.
What I may check? The fuses all work, the interior dome relay switch works and I see nothing else in the owners manual to look for as far as dome lighting and door bell chime.
I can't find any where in the owners manual on how to get the lights to turn off after the doors shut with the engine off. They stay on for a good minute after I shut the doors.
View 14 RepliesI just bought a 2012 Ford 4x4 F250 6.2 gas, when I get out of the truck the dome light/cargo light stay on for 9 to 10 minutes before they go out, someone said to spray the door latches and this should clear up, I have tried that and the lights do still stay on, there is an error code of left rear door ajar, my guess is something/sensor or switch has to be replaced, wondering what it takes for replacement/repair of the switch
View 14 RepliesAnd now for something completely different....This just started, Close either door and the dome light and cargo light stay on much longer than they used to. Timed it and they do finally go off after about 1/2 an hour. Everything else seems to be functioning ok. I searched the forums and didn't come across anything the same, however I got the impression that there is some kind of solenoid/switch that controls this function. 2002 f250 XL 4x4 Regular cab.
View 3 RepliesOur 2015 Prius 4 with 8,900 miles just suddenly stopped chirping and turning the lights off upon locking. The courtesy lights also no longer work (the lights worked last night as I approached the car but not tonight. The locking chirp/beep worked 3 hours ago but not now. Also headlights no longer go out after double clicking lock on either of the 2 fob.)

If you open the door, no lights. If the key is in the ignition and you open the door it buzzes. If you have the light on, the light around the door locks and window controls stay on after you turn off the truck until you open the door. The dome light never comes on unless you use the switch on the light. What's up with the darkness! This truck is like a cave! No under dash lights, no door lights no dome light! As for those red lenses on the door, no wiring, no lights no nada! Do the lights com on when you open the door? Any light?
I have a 2008 F350 Super Duty Regular cab long bed 4X4 I have no cargo light and no third Brake light, checked and even replaced bulbs. Still have no lights up top, what to check or how to fix this? Can I tie the cargo light into the dome light inside without screwing something up? I can't understand why they stopped hooking the cargo light to the dome light but this one seems to be wired separate. Would love to get these lights working again. When I bough t the truck the cargo light didn't work and I thought maybe the bulbs were burnt out, I never checked the brake light I tried to get the cargo light working and that's when I found out the brake light didn't work either.
View 3 RepliesOk so my v no longer beeps or flashes the lights when i lock it using the sks touch sensors or key fob. I just loaded up my prius v at my storage unit full of stuff to bring back to the house. It is packed to the ceiling. I had a small camping cooler at about ceiling height right behind the drivers seat on top of some other stuff. I thought if I drove gently it would be ok, well i stopped a little too fast and the camping cooler launched itself into the dash/center console, bounced off it and landed on the passenger seat.
I didn't see exactly where it impacted on the dash but there appears to be no marks or damage on the climate control or display audio. So the problem is now, maybe this just a coincidence, but when i lock the car from the outside using the FOB or the touch sensor on the door handle I just hear a faint click of the doors locking,(they doors still lock like normal) but no beep or flashing lights like before. I still get the flashing lights and beep sound when unlocking the doors. What I could have done?
I have a 1996 Toyota corolla base model,my dome light stopped working a bout a year ago,I clean the contacts and bulb with sand paper,light would then work for about 2 weeks now When I clean contacts light will only work for a few hours. Have tryed new bulbs many times does not make any difference, don't know what to do.
View 1 RepliesI had a problem with my door ajar light always being on, I was able to find out that it was in the sensor for the back glass and was able to fix it. But now when I cut the explorer off and remove the keys the dome light comes on instantly even if no doors are opened and the lock/unlock button on the driver door won't work. However if I manually turn off the dome light my lock/unlock button starts working properly. Also if I do not manually turn the light of with the roll switch the light will stay on until the computer kills the power to it about 10 mins later. What could cause this??
View 6 RepliesI have a 99 ext cab with a 7.3. My dome and cargo lights only come on when I use the key fob to unlock the doors or when I first shut the truck off. They do not work with the dash switch or when a door opens while the truck is on. Also the doors will lock automatically when I turn the key on even when open, which it has not done before. I don't think the door switches are bad because the door ajar light only comes on when one of the doors are open and it goes off when the doors close. Here is what I have done so far. Sprayed doors with wd-40, Checked all fuses including #14. put a new relay in spot #1 in the fuse box. I am thinking either the gem or the vsm, but I'm not sure how to check either one of those or which one would be controlling that particular function.
View 1 RepliesKeyless entry stopped working on driver's door, but still works on passenger door and hatch. Pushing the buttons still works. I already changed the battery in the fob, so it's obviously a problem with the sensor in the door handle.
View 5 RepliesI recently got a used 2007 prius as my first car; Unfortunately today the drivers side lock has stopped working. when trying to use the smart unlock, the Prius would beep many times, and the drivers door would not unlock (or lock for that matter). After getting into the car (with the mini key) I noticed that the inner lock button does not lock or unlock that door either.
All other doors function normally. The lock can be manually operated, so it's probably not mechanical.
I replaced all the interior halogen lights, parking lights and license plate lights with cool white LEDs. They look good and all was fine until the last step while installing the license plate lights. I plugged one side then turn the light switch on to verify the polarity to see if bulb would come on which it did. Same process for the second license plate light but this time around after turning on the light switch to see if it was plugged in right, I noticed the brake lights didn't come on. So I flipped the switch around a few times and nothing. Now the DRLs do not come on either as well as the parking lights. The only lights that work now are the head lights and interior lights. What happened how do I fix???

The dome lights doesn't work with any door. Can be the relay?
2005 Nissan Quest with 80k. No interior dome/map or door lights work. The instrument cluster and center column lights all work. Basically all the bright lights are gone but you can see speed, radio, etc. Have changed every fuse inside the van with no luck. Inspected the fuses in the engine compartment and none seem to be bad. This all happened after i some IKEA boxs, wonder if something got knocked loose that i cant find.

View 4 RepliesWhile trying to connect my dome light to my map lights I touched the power wire to the dome light to metal, which blew my fuse. After replacing the fuse none of these lights work, nor does the light around where I put my key in the ignition, a voltmeter test of the dome light power wire shows no power to the dome light. I've read that I may have fried my integration relay, but the dealer doesn't know what this is, and I've also read that it may be behind the fuse box.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 Santa Fe and the front map light fixture was where my issue started. I believe from what I read that the diode had gone bad because the map lights would work if the light button was pressed, but not if the door button was pressed. At that point, the only issue I had was the light now working when the door opened. So, I ordered a replacement part and tried to install it today. It was harder to get the old one out than last time, but it came out no worse for wear and I unplugged the old map light fixture. I plugged in the new one and it did not work at all. I checked the wire and it looked fine, the prongs and they were fine and tried it again... nothing.
Now, the back seat dome light and trunk dome light don't work either. (with the new map light plugged in or not) Old one back in and still nothing. Checked the manual for the fuse that is supposed to control those lights and it is fine. I got frustrated because it made no sense and gave up for the night. (no light is even plugged in where the map light goes for now) I come in the house and now every hour or two (when I lock the car) the alarm sounds for no reason. The alarm button won't shut it off either, I have to hit unlock and it stops. (3 times in the last 5 hours now) So, I have decided to leave it unlocked for now. So far, so good. BUT, I need to lock my car when I am out without the alarm sounding and I need my dome lights working. Everything else with / in the car seems to be normal.
