Prius (Gen 3) :: Capless Hubcaps Improve Gas Mileage?

Jul 20, 2012

Since finding 2 hubcaps "missing", I am wondering if I have options as to the styles of hubcaps? Does a particular style affect fuel efficiency? Will going "capless" improve gas mileage?

Phaeton :: Nitrogen In Tires To Improve Mileage?

I have heard that many people are switching to the nitrogen in tires as it is to improve gas mileage. I know they offered it at the Lexus dealership, but I never took advantage of it.

Of course, the phaeton is not going to get the mpg as an echo or aveo even with the tires, but I am just curious...

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2005 - How To Improve Mileage

I have an '05 F350 single rear-axle w/109k miles. I only recently bought the truck for towing, and haven't had much time to play with it.

It seems that I get about 10-11 mpg on average - I was thinking this was a bit low - anything I can check?

I am normally a pretty quick driver, but, have been taking it easy to get a good read on the mileage, so, the right foot has been "very light".

The truck has a "tick", and I intend on following some of the guides for that, but how to improve the mileage

Prius (2004-09) :: 2007 - Hubcaps Keep Breaking

I just had the 3rd hubcap break on my '07 touring with 80K miles. They run $70+ each at the dealer. The aftermarket units the dealer sells don't fit the 16" wheels on the Touring model. Just curious if others have the same problem.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2003 F250 - Front Hubcaps Backing Off Slightly

I've been noticing that one of my front hubcaps has been backing off slightly. I tap it back on and it's good for a while. But lately I'm noticing that I have to tap it back on more often. I took it off today, thinking that I might need a new one. The part number on the inside is IC34-IA096-AB. It's on my 2003 Ford F250 4x4.

I pulled the opposite cover and tried it on the side I'm having trouble with and noticed the same thing. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the chrome plated trim piece that covers the steel rim has tabs that should be flat to the rim. I'm referring to the area where the trim piece ends, near the lug nuts. On the one that I'm not having trouble with, it's flush/flat all around. But on the one I'm having trouble with, some of the ends are not flush to the rim. That is why the hubcap is not seating in those areas. I can see the gap and I can also push down on that section. It's almost as if that trim piece is separating from the rim? I tried using a punch and giving it a couple of whacks with a hammer, but it doesn't press it back to being flush with the rim.

Why would the end of that trim piece that covers the whole wheel lift up on the ends? Is there a way to get it to sit flat?

Camry :: How To Improve Stability At High Speeds

I have an 09 Se with the V6. About 50k miles. When I bought the car at 40k miles, I installed H&R springs and new KYB struts. Also installed the US rear sway bar. Recently put on 18"TRD wheels with brand new Continental extreme grip tires.

At high speeds, 90 - 100+ mph, the car feels a bit soft, and almost a bit squirrelly when maneuvering. What could I do to further stiffen the car?

Scion - Xb :: 5 Speed - Gas Mileage Varied And Fuel Mileage Increased

I've had my XB 5-speed for nearly a year and 10000 miles. It as been dead on reliable and fun to drive. My gas mileage has varied from 26 to 31 in mixed driving and from 32 to 35 on the highway. I use premium fuel only because I can get it without ethanol. My fuel mileage also increased a couple of mpg due to getting the power robbing ethanol out. True it is probably not enough to offset the extra expense but I like not having the stuff in my car. My only dissatisfactions has been with the transmission gear ratios. They are way to low. This torquy engine could easily do with a ratio that would drop about 500 rpm for more relaxed highway cruising.

As it is, though, my XB will go up any hill or long grade without breathing hard! Another is the instrumentation. I don't mind the center mounted set-up but speedometer and trip meter for mpg ratings are both inaccurate. My speedo reads about 2.5 mph high and the fuel mileage read out has about the same error, also on the high side. I have the stock 16" tires. The clutch has a narrow engagement band and can be difficult to be smooth on. The car is fairly quiet, is comfortable and this years hot, humid summer has shown it has one of the best air conditioners I have ever experienced in a car. I thought it might be an electric unit rather than a belt driven compressor because there is absolutely no perceived drag when the compressor kicks on.

Toyota - Venza :: 2010 - Rough Ride - How To Improve

I recently purchased a 2010 Toyota Venza. I unfortunately did not test drive it enough to realize how rough a ride it has. Thinking that something was wrong I brought it back and was told that it is normal and the Venza has a very hard ride. After more research I found out that it is a common complaint. The mechanic said that its large 20" tires, long wheel base and tight suspension all add up to a very hard ride. I saw previous discussions regarding this but no real or recent answers. Can anything be done to improve the ride? I was told that the 2013 model has a better ride so they must have changed something. Would something as simple as replacing the shocks with a different type? I love the car but hate the thought of driving it for the next 5 years the way it is. I would have purchased a Ford Edge or similar car if I realized how hard the ride is.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Improve HP And MPG?

I plan to keep my truck til I die... and want to dial it in. It's getting poor mileage (especially while towing) It make almost no power when cold and I've noticed an overall loss in power. There is no check engine light on and no code but I'm guessing I have injector issues and who knows what else.

I'd like to put a DP Tuner on it but I want to get it running perfect first. Where should I start? What should I service and or replace? Injectors? HPOP? Exhaust back-pressure sensor?

Recently returned from trip from Austin Tx to Monroe LA. Gas mileage decreased from about 43.3 MPG to 38.5 MPG. A little annoyed by this but I guess I can attribute this to the increased weight in the vehicle. Still taking care in for other thing. Prius (Gen 3) Fuel :: Mileage Has Dropped To 35 MPG

2011 Prius for wife. Mileage has always been upper 40s to low 50s until the last week or so, now she is seeing 35 mpg displayed.

I have asked for a check at fill up. I just pulled the car out to wash it and noticed the engine came on right away, same when I put it back into the garage. In the past we would get part way down the driveway before the engine came on. Also did a code check and no codes found

What are the approximate outside air temps? 40s am 70s pm.

Prius V :: Mileage Appears To Be Dropped Without Any Cause

We recently got back from a 2800 mile trip. Our v now has 10,600 miles on it. We have been averaging 41 mpg until the last two tank fuls. For some strange reason we got 34.5 displayed on our last tank, 32 actual, and right now after 90 miles we are showing 30.5 displayed. My wife drives the car 98% of the time, but even when I use hypermiling techniques the car is not yielding the past displayed results. We are about to take it in for the 10,000 oil change.

Prius C Fuel :: Mileage Dropped From 45 To 40 Mpg

I've had my car going at 45 mpg the past 2 years. I just hit my 45k mileage mark. I drive mostly on the highway to work so getting 45 mpg is pretty good for me. This last few fill ups, I noticed my gas mileage has gone down to 40 mpg. I thought it was a mistake if it was just once but the last 7 fill ups has been that way. It just went down all of a sudden and has stayed that way.
