I bought the prius fog lights from and installed them per the instruction guide.
The lights work great but one BIG issue.
I cannot lock my car because after 3 seconds my alarm starts going off. Also whenever I start my car it chirps at me regardless if the alarm has gone off yet.
My car is currently on the road unlocked.
New sfs 2.0t with tech pkg. There's one spot In my town when I drove through, just a normal empty street, and the radio dies and a loud 4 tone alarm starts for about 5 seconds. Same road, does it about 25 ℅ of the time, real stumper. No indications on dash or radio.
View 2 RepliesI just bought a 2005 Prius in great condition. However, the alarm is making me crazy. It sounds whenever I unlock the car, whether by remote or keyless entry. I turned off the keyless entry function, but it still sounds when I press the unlock button on the remote. I have to press it again to get it to stop. It is very shocking, especially when using keyless entry. I walk up, stand for a moment to assure my key fob has communicated with the car, touch the door handle and it goes off! Then the car unlocks, I pull open the door and it stops. One day I was just walking by the car with my key in my purse and the alarm went off! I had to find the key in my purse and press the unlock button to turn it off. So strange!

When I shut the hood, the car decided to simultaneously lock, and now the horn/alarm is going off and the key fob won't unlock the car or disable the alarm. And the keys don't work in the door/trunk so I can't get inside. What I should do?
View 5 RepliesMy 2005 Prius is 6 and a half years old and I have encountered a problem with an outside alarm that is one beep about 2 seconds long. I have checked my manual and I have found two possibilities, but, they don't seem to apply. Last week was the first time I had to go in and reset my maintenance needed reminder because my service station forgot to reset it after the last oil change. I am afraid in the severel attempts to do this I might have reset something else as well!
The outside 2 second beep occurs when the car is in my garage and the car is NOT locked. It also only occurs if I am outside of the car and have the key fob with me. It happens with either key fob near the car. If I lock the car I don't have a problem. It is as if everytime I come near the car with my key fob that it is reminding me that the car is unlocked.
When I unlock my car using the fob key, it automatically locks again after around 30 seconds. Is this a common thing and can it be changed?
View 4 RepliesI bought a used 05 prius about 3,4 years ago. It came with only one key, but everything was fine, except for few minor things. I have changed 12v battery within a month of purchasing this car, to optima yellow top as many priuschat users suggested.
I bought another black logo fob (non-SKS) on ebay, and get a spare key, but no luck. I was trying to do as fast as I can, but the anti theft light never came and stayed on (entering programming mode).
All of sudden, I noticed the fob doesn't lock/unlock the vehicle, but still starts the car. Since then, i unlock with metal key, then start with key fob. Manual door lock/unlock button works fine at driver side. However, when i try to lock the door from passenger side manually, it unlocks the door right away.
Thinking about getting a mini vci cable with techstream to setup a key fob after checking the 12v battery. but it only have been 3,4 years, seems it is too early to replace 12v battery.
Prius owner, Just bought it 3 days ago! 2007 no nav system, but the key fob is the silver logo and has the key button on the lower dash...so I assume it is a smart key system. However, the key fob will not unlock or lock the car, the panic button doesn't work either. The car will only start with the fob in the slot.
Why will it start the car only in the slot? I changed the battery out in the fob and it still didn't lock/unlock. I didn't try the smart key start with the new battery...I don't even know if I have a smart start. Why does it not open/lock the car?
2006 ... HV battery changed over 4 months ago and car ran fine until last week when the car just stopped and won't get ready. Before that incident, the vehicle was running fine all day, while he was returning from the days chores in the evening, it just stopped, dashboard all lit up. After a while, the car started again, and he was able to move it away to the side of the road...just about 2 meters and it stopped again.

View 9 RepliesWhenever it is really cold, o degrees or colder and i use my remote starter, my 2011 Prius starts for about 1-2 seconds and then shuts down. If go into the car and manually start it stays running with no problems. yesterday i tried remote starting it after about 5 hours sitting in -15 degree temperatures and it worked fine but that was after i already manually started it in the morning cause the remote starter didn't work. Why this is happening? it goes against the whole purpose of having a remote starter.
View 19 RepliesCar starts runs rough for a few seconds then shuts off (spark plugs and 2 coils were replaced a few months ago). Coolant reservoir level was way low so I filled to the full line, kept the cap off to cycle. During the time the car starts, the coolant from the reservoir violently "boils" over (out of the reservoir). Huge amount of white smoke from the rear exhaust and a burning smell.
Used Techstream and got the following codes:
Engine and ECT: P0117, P0302, P3190, P3191
Hybrid Control: P0A0F
Intermittently get misfile codes but this time around they did not return.
My 2001 Prius (230,000 miles) is unusable. I can clear the codes. The engine will start up fine. After a few seconds it starts bucking and jerking as if the engine is trying to engage something that won't turn and finally stalls. It is similar to a manual transmission car's action if you fail to push the clutch in when you stop the car. What the engine is trying to engage? I don't have any scanner to read the codes.

View 8 RepliesI just purchased a 2014 Prius C and am having a problem with the Hill Start Assist/Control.
At every single stop, no matter how lightly I press the brake, when I release the brake the car stays in place for two seconds (no gas), and then starts moving.
I am assuming this is the HSC and not a normal function on the car.
If I depress the brake all the way no lights come on, no buzzer sounds, but the above described behavior still happens. I've tried the light stops on up hills, down hills, and flat ground, it all is the same.
I have found a new issue with my trunk. When I hit the release button the latch unlocks but when I set my alarm and then attempt to open the trunk it is still unlocked even after the alarm has been set!! The worst part is the alarm doesn't ever go off after I open it..

For my '13 GLS, I leave my fob in the center dash box compartment, and lock the doors using the button on the door. Sometimes when I unlock the door w/my key, the alarm goes off. Why is that, and how can I prevent that w/out having to carry around my fob?
View 2 RepliesSo my remote and main key got into a washing machine...Put new batteries in it but no go. Car does not start with either main key or valet. When I unlock the driver side door with either key, engine does not start and alarm goes off immediately. From searching the forums I assume I have 15 seconds from opening door and I am well within 15 seconds. Remote should not be necessary as transponder used to validating key is a passive RFID in the key part.
Dealership so far has been unuseful. I told them I can't start the car and they said yeah come in and we'll program you a new remote. When I got there (by motorcycle) they told me they need the car. It's a 2000 Passat GLX V6.
I've had a 2003 Rav4 for 10 years. Only recently did I discover that there is an alarm system in it. Occasionally, if you try to unlock the door with the key and turn it to the left, the alarm will sound. It goes off once you turn the key to the right to unlock the door. Thus far, it has never beeped when we lock the door.
This morning, for the first time ever the car began sounding 2 beeps when we manually unlocked the door and 1 beep when we lock it. (We don't have a fob) The alarm sounds if we open an unlocked door without first disabling it with the key. It is basically going off every time we try to get into the car. It is incredibly annoying.
What happened? What triggered the system to come out of hibernation? And how do we send it back to sleep?
I came out to get into my car today and pressed the keyfob to unlock and nothing. Went inside, same deal with my backup and valet key. I tried to scan with vag com with the alarm going off and I could link up, but not to the immobilizer or lock system. I did get both key 1 and key 2 adaptation surpassed codes. Even when I manually unlock the drivers door the alarm does not go off and I cannot roll up my windows with the key or unlock any other doors with the key. Things have been strange lately too, every time I lock the car and set the alarm the doors themselves locks don't sink down but the alarm is activated allowing anyone to get into the car but alarm goes off.
