I have a 2010 Prius and noticed that lately I sometimes have to press either lock or unlock several times before the little black and red switch moves to either lock or unlock.
View 2 RepliesIt wasn't something that happened all that frequently, but the door lock on the passenger side would occasionally get stuck when someone would try to open it at the same time I was unlocking the doors. And I understand that this is something that is common because I've experienced this same situation with other vehicles. But now when I unlock the doors be it by the door handle sensor, the remote key or when I'm inside the car it remains locked sometimes. The only way to unlock the passenger side door now is by repeatedly pressing the unlock button inside the cabin, remote key or manually unlocking the door from the inside.
View 5 RepliesThe passenger door key-lock on my Corolla is stuck, so the only way I can open that door is to unlock it from the inside. It had been sticking and hard to get it to work using the key in the lock for a while, but now it won't work at all. I opened the door panel and lubed everything that looked like it needs to be lubed, but that had no effect. The thing you pull to open/lock the door from the inside works a little smoother, and the inside handle that opens the door from the inside works smoother now so that's something at least. But opening a locked door from the outside with a key remains a no-go.
I tried spraying some WD 40 in there, and putting some WD 40 on the key and trying to unstick it that way, but the key-lock remains stuck in the upright position, won't budge at all by twisting/jiggling the key. Any luck unsticking a door key-lock ? Heat? Hammer? Ice? Different kind of lube? Cleanser? Swearing? Or is the only solution to replace the key-lock with a new one?
Recently, I've been having issues with my door locks. When exiting the car, and pressing the door lock on the outside handle, I would here the door lock solenoid fire once, then open, and the door would not lock. Same thing would happen when I used the FOB. The door would not lock. On occasion, I would get the door to lock, and stay locked by using the door lock inside the car when the door was open.
On the occasions when I did get the door locked, I then had issues unlocking. If I approached the drivers door to unlock the door, the car would just keep repeatedly beeping, and would not unlock the drivers door. But, the back door would unlock, so I could reach in, and open the drivers door from the back.
A thin blanket is caught in the lock of the rear hatch door. I have removed the cover on the utility box inside the car, and moved the lever but that did not work. I can hear the mechanism working when pressing the unlock but the door does not release. I tried pulling the blanket but it does not budge. I don't want to cut the blanket away because I could not reach what is stuck in the mechanism.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2006 Prius. Just after the Warranty expired which is 3 years in the UK, the passenger door lock would not open. Toyota replaced the lock and it was fine.
View 8 Replies2007 Prius here. A few months ago I had a similar problem. Basically when putting my hand on the door sensor, the doors would cycle through unlocking (noise, lights flash etc) without actually unlocking. If I keep pulling the handle after each attempt it seems to go forever.
The front passenger door also did not lock under any circumstance.
Took it into Toyota, they absolutely screwed me I now realize, $900 to replace a door actuator in that passenger door.
Worked fine for a few weeks. Then all of a sudden, problem started again. Just like last time, slowly slowly over the course of 2 months, it got worse and worse until today I could not open the driver side front or rear door at all.
I can't seem to lock my driver's side door via my key fob anymore. It locks all the other doors. When I press the lock button, I can hear the other doors lock and no beeping sound. There is a light blinking on my dash according to the manual the accessory mode light is blinking. I How do I shut it off? I've turned the car on by pressing the power button and pressing the brake then shut if off normally by pressing the power button.
View 6 RepliesI cannot lock my prius hatch door. It will shut but the lock does not engage. Apparently the lock is broken. Can I order the part and have a mechanic friend do it for me as Toyota want to charge $200 to install it. The part from Toyota is $210.

View 5 RepliesMy passsenger side rear wheel hub assembly needs replacing and I am having trouble removing it. I have removed the rotor, the 4 bolts holding the hub, applied generous amounts of pb blaster, and struck it vigorously with a 3 pound hammer. Also, how to release the abs connection.

Symptom: Only rear left electric window and electric lock are not working. They are not responding to driver side control or remote key control. Electronics on other 3 doors function normally.
Recently I have had a problem with the key fob unlocking the front passenger door. I was able to hit unlock once and the driver door would unlock and then if i hit the unlock again the front passenger door would unlock. Now if I hit the unlock button a second time, the car beeps about six times and the passenger door is still locked. My wife noticed the other day when I unlocked the hatch the passenger door did unlock. I have tried to change the fob from opening just the driver door to all doors but that didn't work. Is there something else I should try or is it a lock actuator problem?
View 7 RepliesThe lock on the rear driver side door doesn't work, it stuck on lock position and it won't open with the remote. You can't even turn the lock by hand from inside. It's like it's jammed or something. The rear passenger door lock was broken a while ago, it was making a nasty noise but still working so I had it changed but this one just stopped working.
How am I gonna fix that. I was thinking in order to fix the lock, they have to remove the door panel first, and to remove the door panel the door should be open to get to the screws. Is it gonna be stock for ever ?
I connected the driver's side LED door sill without a problem by following the video instructions. However, there were no instructions for the passenger side. So, I guessed that I would t-tap the two top wires. The LED's do not light up. Now on second view, the top cable that I t-tap'ed looks more black than blue. I should have done this in the light. So...
1) What are the correct wires to t-tap for the passenger side?
2) Did I damage anything if I t-tap'ed the wrong cable and I then remove the t-tap?
After traveling on the prehistoric roads (99% of the roads) in DC that have not been maintained since the Stone Age, the front passenger door is rattling (or something in it/within the vicinity) at only 3000miles. It looks like this happened after I started driving on the beltway. The beltway has less potholes than the prehistoric roads BUT on the beltway, you'd be hitting those potholes at 65mph.
View 7 RepliesSo last night I tried to lock my car door i put the key in and tried to turn it to lock it and it wouldn't move as if it were stuck or something so i had to lock it from the passenger side and this morning i went to go check it out and sprayed a little bit of WD-40 on the key and inside the part the key goes in since it wouldn't move and was stuck i thought that might have worked but instead all it did was make it worse now it just spins in circles freely without locking or unlocking my doors i have to do it from the passenger side ...
View 6 RepliesMy passenger rear lock is no longer lock/unlocking via power. I had an issue with the driver front, but it was replaced under warranty. Since it's a 2007, it's certainly no longer under warranty.
View 12 RepliesWhen the car runs at a certain RPM during idle, the door panel rattles/buzzes. This is usually when the car is first started. The idle speed changes at some point as it warms up and then it no longer rattles. Sometimes it also buzzes during acceleration when the engine hits a certain RPM or when driving on coarse spots in the road.
It has been very difficult to reproduce it at the dealership because there seems to be no way to control when the engine runs and to control the RPM. On top of that, it is affected by ambient temperature. If it is isn't cold enough, it doesn't happen. Is there any way to manually control starting and revving the engine? Is there any well-known issue that causes this or a known fix for the buzzing?
We just upgraded our Prius from Gen 3 to Gen 3....a 2012. Great ride, just drove it from SoCal on a Sierra Mtns road trip, a little hiking and snowboarding for our spring break. What we failed to notice upon purchase was a passenger door whose controls want work! The drivers door can lock the car and operate the passenger window and lock. However, the passenger door switch won't open or close the window, nor will it lock the door. All other doors and locks work normally.
