I had to remove/repair my hood latch (cable broke) on my 2008. There is a 2-wire sensor or similar device mounted to the latch. what is its purpose? I broke the wires to it - yet see no evidence that any system ceased to work as a result. I want to make sure it isn't something critical.
View 7 RepliesSo i traded in my POS 2008 Jeep Liberty and decided to go the Toyota way based on family and friends saying its THE BEST maker and Consumer Reports seconding that. I've had it for just over a week and the rattling/buzzing noise from something being loose under the steering wheel is driving me nuts. In addition to the Pin from the fuel filler door wont extract and come back out so the fuel filler door is stuck slightly open. Besides these 2 small issues i love the car, just not the quality control i guess.

View 2 RepliesI recently acquired a 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS after my old car was totaled. I love the car but I've already had a problem trying to open the hood. The interior hood release lever does not pop the hood. I took it to Hyundai and they were able to pop it. They told me the bottom of the hood latch was broken! Needless to say I'd like to replace the part myself but I cant figure out how to move the hood latch from in front of the engine.
View 13 RepliesSo I have a broken seat latch on the right side. I can't get the seat to go down because the handle comes out as a whole. Also when I look deeper, the white plastic piece that appears to be associated with it is also broken. How can I unlatch the seats to fold them down?
View 4 RepliesI'm working on a friends 2003 Explorer. A couple of years ago I had to repair some broken wires in the driver door flex accordion. Now some different wires in that joint flexed and broke. My friend tried to order the whole door wiring harness and it doesn't seem available or is part of a much larger expensive harness. I looked in my Helm manual to find how this harness plugs in and it seems Helm eliminated showing all the plugs involved in a circuit.
My 1999 Helm manual shows a plug by the left kick panel for this harness. The Helm manual also doesn't include door replacement. I thought if it did include that info. it would tell me to either unplug the harness or remove the whole thing out of the door. No luck. Am I going to have to repair his old harness again? One would assume that since this is a chronic Ford failure that someone would make a better replacement solution. I had to do the same repair on another friends 2001 Ford Ranger .
Fixing top dash compartment latch on 2008 Elantra? Looks like the plastic piece that fits into top broke off.

View 6 RepliesMy '04 Camry console has two compartments. The lower compartment is large and the upper small. The small upper compartment serves as a lid for the lower compartment.
The upper console lid latch has a plastic tooth that latches into a hole in the lower compartment lid (which as I explained about is also the upper compartment itself). Yesterday that plastic tooth broke off so now the upper lid will not latch. Here are pictures of all this. Looks like the latch assembly would be easy to replace.
I called the dealer this morning to get a new latch. They don't sell the latch separately -- you must buy an entire lid. This lid looks more difficult to replace. I called a couple of salvage places and they didn't have any, but when they have them they only sell them as the entire console.

Last time I opened the hood I did not notice anything wrong with the hood or the hood release latch inside the cab. Now when I pulled the hood release latch inside the cab, nothing happens to the hood at all (the hood does not open at all). Is there a way I can open the hood or do I need to tow it to my mechanic?

View 24 RepliesMy Scangauge is mounted on the dash just above the steering wheel. My last car, a Subaru Impreza had lots of room on the steering column. On the 2010 Prius it's very difficult to see when mounted there.
Cold weather is setting in and the glue on the velcro is starting to give out and the Gauge will soon fall. Where are you mounting them? How are you getting them to stick?
Not long after I got the Prius, there's a rattle in the console mounted into the head liner. If I press on it, the rattle shifts. Sounds like the wire that feeds power to the lights is probably smacking against the roof of the car.

View 6 RepliesI just traded in my 2006 Prius with a 2013. I live in the country and always have to deal with mice. The 2013 has so many exposed wires whereas the old one did not. Is there any suggestion on sealing them and creating some barrier. I'll send a picture if needed but one circuit board has lots of tiny and tasty looking wires on top. It doesn't seem like much protection but also looks incredibly fragile.
