Prius (Gen 2) :: Right Side Windshield Wiper Blade Motor Replacement
Dec 31, 2012
Is this easy to do? I can get the part fairly cheaply, but if I can save on the labor I would like to. I bought my prius new in 2005, and I still have it, even though I also have a tacoma. Because the Prius is my "second vehicle" now, I am trying to save on repairs.

I have replaced the wiper motor and the wiper blades stop vertical on the wind shield. Readjusting the position of the wipers does not work. The wipers wipe the hood when that is done. I have done something wrong.

My passanger side blade has been hitting the side of my windshield randomly since the car was new. Wasn't able to replicate the issue at the dealer so I was pulling the blade off last night to investigate and broke the small square retaining clip (Red arrow). Do the clip assembly (Blue arrow) can be purchased separately or if I have to buy a whole new wiper.

2002 Nissan Maxima w/ 134,000 mi. Driver side wiper blade squeaks mercilessly when windshield wet. I've: changed blades twice; cleaned blades & windshield thoroughly with alcohol; w/ ammonia; with vinegar, for each using paper towels and also tried with newspaper; cleaned windshield dry with baking soda. Baking soda seemed to work at first but soon returned to previous squeakiness. It's driving me nuts and the wet weather is around the corner!

I recently purchased a '09 LS460 SWB. I noticed the driver side windshield wiper arm sitting up high enough to be in my field of vision.
I'm aware that there is a "winter mode" that allows you to raise the arm up a few inches, but from everything I've read....usually the driver and passenger side arm raise together.
In my case, my passenger side arm sits nice and low near the hood, while the dirver is sitting an inch or two higher.
I tried pushing the driver arm down (with success), but after cycling the windshield wipers once, the driver side arm goes back to the higher position.

Not real happy with stock blades. Leaves streaks. Bought right size Goodyear hybrid at Costco. But it seems the push button adapter will not work. Toyota has always used J hook before. So now they switch to push button but apparently some non standard version. Checked Rain-x, Bosch, Goodyear sites. Nobody lists 2016 Prius.

I bought replacement blades for Drivers side and rear window.
I'm half-way mechanical... OK , maybe 1/4. It appears that the blades themselves are not replaceable; only the refill (squeegee) portion is. is this correct?
Front-drivers-side actually looks like the complete blade may come off, but it's not obvious how it releases.
The rear appears to have no way to easily remove the complete blade.

Looking for a video or directions as to how I replace a windshield wiper motor on a 2006 SD?

I'm setting up a 9v 20mA 5mm LED array for some DRLs, but I'm worrying a little too much about my power supply. I remember reading about a year ago to tap into the windshield wiper motor for a 12V source. I know I'll need to get some resistors for that.

Passenger side wiper blade extending over the glass? Asking the dealer to see if this needs adjustment.

I figured out how to remove the front wiper blades you lift the clip then slide them off but the rear wiper blade I cannot figure out how to remove from the arm.

The Prius that I bought brand new last October has developed a crack just above the driver's side windshield wiper. I noticed it today while washing the car. At that time it was about eight or nine inches long, and relatively hard to see due to being so low on the windshield. I inspected the crack very carefully and could not see ANY type of impact damage. After driving it around for the day, the crack has now splintered off and is going in a few different directions now. In a couple of places along the crack a few small chips have also broken off.

The far end of my passenger side wiper has been leaving about a 2 inch wide arcing streak lately. I figured I needed new inserts, so I replaced them yesterday. The passenger side wiper is still streaking in the exact same place. I know I put the new inserts in correctly, including installing the little metal clip at the end of the insert. What could be the problem? Could I need a new wiper blade? Do those things go bad?

I recently bought a used 2010 Prius and I've noticed that the Windshield wiper position on the passenger side stops below the windshield. This causes a slight "thunking" sound when the wipers are going. I'm trying to see if this is something that is relatively easy to fix myself. Judging by the position if I move the passenger side up I'll also have to move the driver side.

We took my 08 Touring down to Florida for our vacation, and while she performed great- {average 28-32mpg @ 70ish mph} -she fell shy of expectations when we hit a few light rains. At speeds above 70 the drivers wiper blade would clear on the up stroke but not on the down stroke....yes, 1st thoughts are go slower, but that isn't a real answer for me.
Before leaving I installed new brakes {rotors/pads/hardware} all around, new Michelin tires {all 5} and "new wiper blades" {rain-X}. The new brakes were very useful going thru the stop and go traffic in Atlanta, the new tires were very useful in the twisties of Tennesee's hills...but the wipers had me getting lapped often on the way back home due to the lifting issue above 70, so I kept to 65-70mph.
The way I see it, it's either the wiper blades not having enough "ramp" on the blade for the wind to push it down at speed, or the wiper arm tension spring is going soft.
My car is an '08 with 154k...{no leaks/motor still has great power/went 3400 miles and she didn't burn a drop of oil!}.

My 5 month old 2011 Prius Two ran out of windshield wiper fluid yesterday. This was somewhat surprising, since I haven't used the cleaner that much - and I would assume that the dealer filled it up when I bought the car. So I added some more (even used the "windshield wiper dipstick" to make sure that I didn't overfill). I also used a funnel, so no fluid spilled anywhere. I then turned the car on, and made sure that the front and rear wiper/cleaners worked - everything was fine.
But when I got out of the car, I noticed a small amount of liquid on the ground, near the front passenger wheel. I saw small amounts of liquid dripping off the car. So I called my dealer, said I thought the plastic wiper cleaner container had a leak, and they said bring the car in. When I got to the dealer, the attendant said: "Is it the front right of the car?" (i.e. where the liquid was coming out, I hadn't even mentioned where I had seen the leak). I said yes.
He then asked me to run my front wipers with the cleaner coming out for about 15 seconds (longer than one would usually do that). I then got out the car, and he showed me lots of liquid that "appeared" to be leaking out the container; however, the attendant said that was just runoff of the excess cleaner. He said if there is extra cleaner it gets diverted mostly to the front right, and a little to the front left. He said he had a 2010 Pruis, and it does the same thing. He said if you're driving on the highway, you'd obviously never noticed it. So you only see it when you use the wiper/cleaners when parked (not usually the case). I mentioned that I had never noticed this in my previous cars (all Saturns). He said he thought the Saturn might have diverted the fluid more towards the middle underneath. But since the Saturn actually required a key to turn on, I don't recall ever testing the wiper/cleaners, after refilling with more fluid (it's just that it's so easy to turn on a Prius...

The windshield wipers aren't working properly. I can hear the motor trying to work, and either blade will try to work but get stuck against each other. I checked the fuses and nothing is burned out. I'm not sure if it is related to the problem but yesterday my husband was washing the car and I noticed that he had pulled the wiper blades away from the windshield so they were sticking up in the air. We filled the wiper fluid. I'm wondering if something got broken when he opened the hood without putting the blades down? They seem out of sync. He also did an oil change. Could he have done something to cause this problem while doing the oil change?
I want to open up and take a look at the motor functions, but I'm not sure where it's located and how to get to it.

I've 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, around a month ago the front Windshield Wipers started to start on their own, when I got the car checked the technician told me that I've to replace the Windshield Wiper Motor, I wonder if this is correct? and what would make the motor to starts on its own?

I just replaced my Wiper motor last week and noticed something strange. For the last year or so when I turn on the key to start the truck, once in a while my radio, gauges, and other electricals such as windows wouldn't work for a bit, anywhere from a couple seconds to maybe as much as a couple minutes. Since my wiper motor was on the fritz, I pulled the fuse and the radio, gauges, ect. wouldn't work until the WTS light went out, then everything worked just fine, even after I started the truck and the glow plugs come back on.Since I replaced the motor everything works as soon as i turn the key. Coincidence? Or could one of the internal relays on the motor being stuck cause that?

06 GS300 Drove all day in freezing rain, but when I went to leave the store, the drivers side windshield wiper decided to stop working. I was able to make it back to the parking lot. The passenger side is working fine, but that was not working for me at the time. What could have caused this issue?
