There's an annoying reflection in the windshield of the dashboard lights at night. What have any of you done to get rid of it?

View 15 RepliesThis last week, I bought a Prius C 4, love everything about it but... the front windshield reflection. The reflection of the dashboard during daytime makes the view somewhat cloudy, at night the reflection at night appears to be like a shroud over most of the windshield. So much so that the peripheral vision is almost nil. I think this can be dangerous as demonstrated by almost hitting 2 deer on my first drive home! I've ordered a dashmat cover and await its delivery. Hopefully this will alleviate the problem, if not my dealer will be getting the car back until this problem is resolved. Dimming the dashboard light has no effect.
View 6 RepliesWhen I am driving and the sun is hitting the top of the dashboard, I get a reflection of the dashboard in my windshield. I have the gray interior, so it isn't terribly distracting. However, it would be really nice to tone it down some. The interior of my new Sonata is nice and I don't want something tacky. I have done some looking at dash mats on the web but I don't know how well they fit, how well they work, and if they would pass my tackiness test.
View 36 RepliesWhen I drive in the morning , the sun throws a lot of dashboard glare on the windshield ...Its just annoying and bothers me when I see it right in the front of steering wheel on the lower side...Not sure if there is a way to avoid it or "fix" it.

View 5 RepliesI've got a UHaul dolly, on which the platform where the front tires are can slightly rotate when the towing vehicle turns. I've been towing my 2012 Prius C for about 1,000 miles, got another 1,500 to go. Everything was going well until tonight. To tow, after getting much advice, I put my Prius C on "Park", parking brake disengaged and engine turned off. I checked on it a few times. At first, nothing to declare. But now, a few lights are on when I turn the car on!!!! ABS/regenerative brake/parking brake/anti-slip. Did I damage anything? We did not turn much, just a few times on parking lots. I am thinking maybe the steering was locked in front but because the dolly makes the wheels turn slightly with turning, it messed things up?
What should I do? I am thinking I could continue on with keeping the car turned on ACCESSORY mode and keep it on neutral, but that will likely kill the 12V after a while? Or I could turn the car ON, keep it on READY and NEUTRAL, hoping that the car engine will turn on when the battery needs to be recharged.
I have a 2007 Prius with 145,000 miles.
We drove for an hour and a half. No problems on the way there. When we left there, there were no dashboard lights. The screen worked fine. So did the headlights and turn signals. But, no speedo or other dashboard lights. I wasn't worried. I figured we blew a fuse so I am going to check in a few minutes.
But when we got home, I couldn't turn the car off. I pressed the On/Off button many times and nothing. I tried putting the key fob in the socket, and hit the button and it shut off.
I have a 2005 Prius with 105K miles on it. It was working perfectly until one day, the dashboard lights didn't turn on. I messed with the switch to the left of the wheel just to make sure I hadn't touched it, and that didn't work to turn them on.... then I went to turn my car off and it just didn't turn off! I tried several different techniques, made sure it was in park and not in neutral, and it just wouldn't turn off.
View 12 RepliesI have a 2009 Prius with less than 10,000 miles. Lately I have run into car starting up problems. I have smart key, but what happens is that even after pressing the brakes all the way and pressing the ON button, it won't start, it would just go into the state where all the indication lights on the dashboard are on. But so far I have been able to start it after a few tries, like after giving it some time etc.
View 19 RepliesI'm having my 2008 Prius for around 16 months no. Yesterday, after work I got in the car to drive home as usual, I put the key, pressed the brake pedal and the Power button, noticed that the dashboard lights come ON, I opened the four windows as it was too hot inside the car, then I noticed that the radio doesn't work and the display screen as well. I thought I haven't pressed the brake pedal enough so I pressed the power button again, and the car stopped. I tried to restart it , but with no luck, now all the windows are open and I couldn't close them and couldn't get the car starting. I pressed the lock button on the key to lock them, but it didn't do anything.
I waited for around 1.5 hour till my brother and his friend came, and they said it might be the 12V battery, once they put the charging cables between the two cars, mine started to operate. This hadn't happen to me and it was really a not nice experience. They told me to try it today morning, if it doesn't work, then the battery might need a replacement.
Today morning it worked fine, but I noticed that the Auto feature of the driver's window is not working and that the speedometer is giving wrong value (approx. lower by 20 K/hr).
After my son drove our 2006 Prius at speeds up to 50mph for about 5 miles with the parking brake ON, the dashboard lights all come on and stay on. However, the car drives completely normal and does not seem to have suffered any damage. In fact, we drove it from Phoenix to Bremerton WA after this incident, and the lights stayed on the entire time. Unrelated is the fact that the car has 250,000 miles on it and seems like new. The main battery was replaced at 180,000 miles.
View 11 RepliesMy 2012 Prius v dashboard lights no longer are turning on. They light up at initial start-up, but then all but a few icons on the far left and far right of the screen go out. This happened right after I played with the heat / AC controls.
View 5 RepliesI saw two older posts regarding no dash board lights. It is super cold here as in minus 3 degrees. Somewhat unusual for Kansas. When I started my car I had no dash board instrument lights but the MPG monitor does work. Also when I tried to shut down the power button wouldnt turn the car off and consequently the key would not release. I took it to Toyota and he told my I had the dimmer turned down(I had already tried turning it several times) to the off position. He put a new battery in the key remote and things seemed to work fine. This morning it was another sub-zero day and the same problems happened all over again. This time they diagnosed a sealed junction box on the driver side that has poor connections that seem fail due to the cold weather that needs to be replaced. It will all start all over again when it sits over night in the cold.
View 1 RepliesI had a check engine light come on yesterday, so went to go check out the codes today with an OBD scanner. After I plugged in the device, the ABS, VSC, ((!)) and brake lights all came on like they do when the car is started - however, this time they did not turn off.
View 1 RepliesWhat to check and do on my 07 Gen 2 Prius odo 109450 miles
My dashboard lights have the red triangle master hybrid /vsc and brake all on and I can still drive the vehicle.
I have been rechecking my repair work however after replacing the following parts
12v battery
inverter pump
coolant
traction battery
I am unsure how to troubleshoot my issue.
I have a 2007 Prius with 92000 miles. All dashboard warning lights lit up the other day. Had it towed to the Toyota dealer and they first replaced the HV ECU. Now they are saying the traction battery needs to be replaced. They have had the car several days but they put me in a free rental.
View 3 RepliesI have had the Prius for a little over 2 years now. Bought used and currently close to 150K miles on it and have put on about 25K miles a year.
This evening on way back home, when I turned on the Prius, I got the Red Triangle along with a bunch of other lights ON the dashboard.
Pressing the power button and everything would take much longer than usual - the lights(on the clock) was dim, the windows moved up and down rather slowly.
Eventually, i had to jump start and carefully drive home. Afraid it would stop somewhere at stop signs or long red lights, i constantly kept pumping the accelerator(not sure if that was good). Seems like need to replace the 12V battery.
My 2008 Prius dashboard lights/indicator lights are not turning on.
View 8 RepliesI have 2006 prius with 96k miles on it and regularly serviced. Today morning while driving to work, there were multiple lights that came up on my dashboard. The emergency (triangle) indicator, VSC, Engine check came up. I checked the battery and it was green.I have given the car for service to the showroom,
View 5 RepliesI have done some maintenance on a recently purchased 2004 Prius. Namely, replaced the inverter cooling pump, the right front wheel bearing and rear brake pads.
At a certain point, the brake, (!), VSC and ABS lights came on on the dashboard.
My wife is driving this car so I did not get the exact moment when the lights came on after my repair jobs.
I then replaced the 12V battery with a new one and reset the lights with the PIN 4-13 jumper on the OBDII connector. I did retrieved the error codes of each light and I googled them without any result and I now lost the paper where I had then written on
I just drove my 2 year old prius during the snowstorm for the first time. While parked, I turned the car on, headlights on, and tried to move the car. The gas engine already shut down during warm-up. Car was stuck in snow. I had to move back and forth on electrical only a few times before getting out.
Here is the question. After a second or third try in reverse, dashboard lights suddenly went totally dark, and would not turn on until headlights were off. I could not drive like that at night, so I stopped and googled it on my cell. Turns out the dimmer was all the way off.
But how???? I did not touch it. The car started just fine, everything working. Only after a few attempts to get of of the snow the dash went out? Is there something wrong with the electrical circuit? I did try to move the car very gently, without flooring the pedal.
