My 2007 Prius suddenly lost power and all lights on the dash board light up. I had a "problem" error as well. Eventually a message came up stating there was a transmission P lock mechanism problem.
Long story short, realized the 12volt was dead and replaced it. However, the car is still not running after replacing the battery. It went once around the block fine, and then the same thing happened with all the lights (check engine, VSC, brake system, and !) and P lock mechanism warning. Disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and tried again. No luck.

I have an 07 Prius with 90Kmi (bought new) which now loses power while climbing sections of mtn passes. Battery meter shows 1 purple bar and cannot go faster than 50mph. No warning lights or fault codes. Never an issue before & intermittently happens around town. 4 dealer visits and extended tests with TMC field techs have allowed them to duplicate the problem at least twice. Interestingly Toyota doesn't know what or how to fix this.

Was sitting in my car on my lunch break playing the radio and had my seat heater on, and all of a sudden my radio kinda went staticy and died and my car completely died. Had to power it back down then back up to get it running, battery didn't show very low, but when I went into start mode (non accessory) it immediatly started the ICE and charged.

My 2007 Prius has 120,000 miles. I live in a mountainous area. I need to climb 3 miles at 6% grade to get out of my neighborhood. Lately I've been noticing the traction battery loses charge fairly quickly and I've been thinking about replacing the battery. Much of my driving is in steep hills and I run a full charge cycle many times a day, so I guess I should expect some loss of life.

What the problem is with my 94 Saturn Sl2? It seems to loose power going up hill. Also I have put in a new alternator and battery, because the battery would go dead after driving for a while. ABS light remains on as well. Also have pinging noise coming from below the emergency brake area, after I have driven it for a little while. Even if it sits idling at times, it will drag down the battery or something, because it will kill and go dead. Could there be a short somewhere?

What is "reasonable" for the loss of capacity of the Prius Plug in battery? Ours started out with a max at 11.7 miles when fully charged. After 6,000 miles and 7 months it is down to 10.0 miles. This seems like an excessive loss to me. I have read the tips for maintaining capacity and we don't do all the them. e.g. we charge out battery asap so it will be ready for the next trip. Our schedule is not fixed enough to determine when the car will be needed next.

When I accelerate to merge onto the highway or pass my battery light blinks as well as my headlight flickering and a slight loss in power. My car has 140k miles on it, original battery which seems to test fine on my charger. I just change the spark plugs.

I tried to turn on my car this morning, but the "Ready" sign didn't go on. The whole display is black. "Check Engine" sign blinked briefly. Battery display shows the battery is "green". Everything else works - cd/radio/bluetooth, etc. As I tried to start it, the screen showed that the engine briefly charged the Prius battery, then it was all quite. I tried to wait and restart a few times, but still the display was all black and no "ready" sign. I WAS able to still move the car, but I didn't chance to drive it out of the garage. I just had it serviced (oil/fluid change). Small battery was replaced in July.

If my traction battery has plenty of 'juice' in it, and my 12v battery is dead....is there any way to 'jump' the 12 volt battery with the traction battery to get the car started?

My 2012 Prius v has a traction battery gauge beside the fuel gauge. The gauge has never shown that the battery is full. It appears as if the indicator is 2 bars below full at all times. Is this by design or should the gauge look full with bars to the very top after charging on a long trip?

Is there any way to just use just the battery to move my Prius? Every time I want to move my car the engine starts, even when the meter is all green.

I see my trip info between Power ON to Power OFF when I turn off the engine. But then during my next trip it recycles all the reading..I want the Prius to remember my past trip so that way over a total 300 or 400 miles I can see the average MPG I got.How can I set that?

I had my car battery replaced about three months ago and when it was replaced they put those little anti-corrosion felt pads at the base of the terminals as well as anti-corrosion grease. My positive terminal would never maintain a secure connection so I removed the felt pad and replaced the terminal connection. Now my only problem is whenever it is very cold outside and I try to start the car, I lose power instantly as soon as the starter is about to engage. I always have to twist the positive terminal back and forth a couple times, listening to the crunching sound of the anti-corrosion grease, and power is restored.
Is there any brand of grease I can use that won't cause this issue? Yes, I have removed the terminal, cleaned out the old grease and replaced with another pouch of the cheap stuff at the autozone counter and that didn't work. There is no corrosion buildup on the terminals but I've consistently had the problem for the past few months.
I know Honda had a recall on ignition switched a while ago, and they replaced mine, but I'm not sure if there is any direct connection since my daily fix involves me manipulating the battery terminal to get the car started. 2003 Accord EX ...

I had to drop off someone, wait 2 hours on the spot, and pick up. I powered off the car after the drop off. Turn it back on right away without stepping on the brake - to bring up accessory mode so I could listen to FM radio. Exactly 60 minutes later, all inside courtesy lights lit up for 15 sec, radio powered off, and the dash displayed "auto power off - to save battery". very cool.

When the shaded area is in the battery half of the ECO bar I would expect to have the mpg be 100. It sometimes shows only 25 mpg. Just purchased a 2010 and learning how to get the best mileage possible.

Where I live we don't need or use AC very much but in the winter my wife likes to set the interior temp up to 72 degrees and we often need the defroster, especially on the windshield. I've wondered which uses more electric power from the battery to operate, AC or the heater/defroster? Also, does the AC come on automatically with the defroster, thus giving a double whammy to power use

So, I got stuck in standstill traffic for about an hour due to bad weather and wreck up ahead, and barely inching along the highway, I was surprised how fast the battery was dropping and having to turn on the engine to recharge it, killing the MPG; normal drive home I get around 50 MPG, it dropped to 38 due to all the idling. In such situations, just place the Prius in "Park" in order to shut down the electric motor (I'm assuming that's what park does) so it doesn't idle to conserve power? Would probably be an annoying way to drive regularly, but if you know you're gonna get stuck for awhile, I may try it next time...

I replaced the battery because I was getting the red triangle with no screen powerup. This is a slight improvement but I'm stuck as to what the "Problem" indicator on the MFD is about.
I've checked the battery in maintenance mode, reading 12.6V.
