My headlights (mainly right, but sometimes left) would sometimes turn off by itself... if it turns off, I would then manually switch off the headlight and switch it back on (right away), and both headlights would come back on... I'm not sure what is causing this, and had thought it was a defective bulb. I went and bought new bulbs, but it doesn't seem like it's the bulbs that are causing it.

View 2 RepliesI own a 2008 Prius Touring and originally it was only the passenger headlight that would go out but since I've had it replaced not only is the driver's side going out and flickering but the passenger side still shuts off! If I get the driver's headlight (which is very old) replaced will it solve the problem? Is it a deeper problem? If so what is it and how do I fix it?

View 12 RepliesI woke up this morning to rain and a very sick Phaeton. The car is locked, however the headlights turned on automatically. The car has a smell of burning electrical components. The wireless unlock doesn't work, so I had to open the door with the key. This set off the alarm. I was unable to shut it off by putting the car key into the ignition. Now the key is stuck in the ignition. Various lights are flashing, but I cannot start the car. The batteries are less than 2 years old.

So VR6 owners know that our girl, though she's got a fat ass, will absolutely move. I've been opening her up in Sport mode on Interstate stretches and have noticed every time I click over 100 the DRL's disengage and headlights automatically come on. Even if I turn the headlamp button completely off, then back to Auto, low beam headlights still stay on. Only after the car has been off again does it reset.
First problem is, for the first 6 months or so I had my 08 460, the headlights would automatically turn off when I opened the door, now it doesn't. I have to manually click back the light switch inside. It's more annoying because I'm used to just leaving the car and they turn off when opening the door so I didn't notice they were on when I left the car during the day only to come back hours later to a dead car. Needed a jump. Not sure if there a way to change the settings for this that I might have changed?
Second issue is ever since I got my car every single time I start my car my mirrors are in a different position, they're almost always way too high so I can't see cars in the lanes and end up readjusting them while I'm driving which becomes annoying when you have to do that every day, I've set the mirror settings on my memory for all 3 settings, and if I hit memory before driving they'll go to that, so I don't know why they change. The mirrors function properly with the controls so they're not broken.
I'm trying to adjust the headlights on my Jetta wagon. I know the basic way to go about doing that theoretically, but how to actually adjust the headlights? Are there screws or something somewhere? I also thought I read somewhere that the car automatically adjusts the headlights slightly as your driving? How do I account for that?

View 2 RepliesI'm having trouble with the headlights on my 2003 Chevy Tracker. When it's light out, my headlights come on automatically when I release the parking brake, but turn off if I turn the switch that would normally turn them on. When it is dark out, or I drive under a bridge etc, they turn off and I can't manually turn them on. I can "flash" my headlights, but if I turn them on as if to leave them on, they don't turn on. This problem started about the same time that my AC blower stopped working, so I replaced the blower motor resistor and all fuses (I've heard that the blower motor resistor is also involved with the headlights). This fixed the AC, but had no effect on the headlights.
I can trick the lights into turning on at night only by shining a bright light directly on the sensor - they turn back off as soon as I remove the light. I took it to Pep Boys for a basic electrical diagnostic to see if I might be missing something silly, but once I described the problem they wouldn't even bother - told me to take it to the dealer and have the body regulator module reprogrammed.
F350 1999 7.3L. It seems this only happens after a rain but the headlights have been coming on mysteriously by them selves without any contact with the vehicle. I woke up this morning with my headlights on. This has happened a few times in the past and I turn the light switch on and off a few times and then they shut off. This morning I did that but after a few minutes they came back on again. Where do I need to look? Relay? Switch? Dimmer Switch? A mystery.

I get home and turn them and turn them back on and the headlight turns very dim for a couple of seconds, and then shuts off. What this could be? Ballast or Bulb. I have major modifications done to the wheels wells to fit the wheels, so i don't want to take it to the dealer.
View 3 RepliesI bought a 99 f350, that already had HID's in it, i found out i was running the wrong batters (weren't 800 cold crank) I just had to replace the alternator. Ever since the new alternator when i turn on my headlights my truck shuts off. IT fried my IDM and i just put a new IDM and 2 new batteries in it today. Thinking i had fixed the problem i drove around no issues, finally i was leaving someones house and turned on my lights, and truck shuts off!!! It restarts but now im trowing a code!!!! im guessing the HIDs are wired wrong and that's why its shutting down the truck but OEM IDM from ford is 1300$!!!!! brand new one installed today,
View 5 RepliesI just found out today!!! that if you leave it in the odo display, the car will automatically reset your gas mileage to zero every time you restart the car. That is so handy to improve my driving style , especially over the same route. Cannot believe I did not know that!!!!

Why my car starts up automatically with 99 MPG on the display? It doesn't do this all the time but when it does it seems as of my "average" mpg for the trip isn't accurate because as I drive it takes the average from 99 and not starting from 0.
View 2 RepliesWhen approaching the car from any direction, if I am within a couple of feet of a door, the door automatically unlocks. It's wicked cool and I love that it does this but....I don't think it's supposed to.
I only have the only FOB that works (I have another but either the battery is dead or the fob is dead) so I can't test to see if it does it with both.
,I looked through the owners manual, and searched Google but I don't see anything saying this is something that is supposed to happen. The doors don't lock automatically, and if I press the door button to lock the car it doesn't unlock again. It only seems to unlock if I walk up to it locked and stand there for a few seconds.
The Prius engine turns on/off automatically, so miles driven do not correlate to "Engine" miles. Thus, it makes sense to me that somewhere there should be access to "Engine hours". My diesel truck even offers this feature. Does this data is recorded and available??
View 6 RepliesI replaced the 12V battery yesterday with a new one, and the car (2010 Prius Model III w Navigation), will turn on and off, but the ICE is not turning on automatically upon start-up, as it usually does. I can get the ICE to start by stepping on the gas pedal while in park, although it seems to die within a few seconds if I remove my foot.
