I just got my prius a few weeks ago and I am curious as to what the little button on the driver door handle does? I can't find anything in the manually unless I just skipped over it.
View 7 RepliesI had my '09 F-150 Super Crew lock punched out on driver side door. To prevent this from happening again, I am replacing that handle with a handle for the rear door that has NO lock. I will no longer have key access to the truck. I am also ordering a spare remote. Is there anything I should consider before following through with this decision? Why I shouldn't do this? Is this a common thing to do?

Is this a function available on the Passat? I tried it with no success.
Today I took the car in for the 15k service, I asked them to reprogram the car so that when I touch the driver door handle it would unlock all 4 doors. I went to my car this afternoon and this did not happened as I wanted.
View 19 RepliesI just purchased a 2012 Prius. I tried to program the all doors are unlocked when the driver's door is opened within 10 seconds after turning the Power switch off. On page 89 of the user manual, it explained how to do it but me and my dealer could get it to work.

View 2 RepliesAfter the car is parked for a while, when you open the driver side door or just touch the door handle an electric motor starts running. After several seconds it stops. Sounds as though it is running a pump and building pressure or vacuum. Just wondering exactly what it is?
View 19 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius Touring HB. A few months ago, I left the car on Acc mode by mistake and drained the 12V battery. Had to use the manual key to get in the vehicle and jump start the vehicle. Since then I have not been able to open the drivers side door with the SKS and touch sensor. I can lock the door by pressing the black button the handle. Battery in teh FOB appears to be functioning well. Doors unlock when I touch the passenger side handle or the latch on the rear hatch. Key button is up (SKS is operational).
I am not sure if I may have done something when jump starting that turned off the sensor feature of the driver side handle.
06 limited. I lost the Toyota book that has the procedure in it to change the smartkey system's door handle button to unlock all of the doors instead of just the drivers door.
View 5 RepliesParked my car in freezing temperatures overnight and noticed the door handle's unlock button is frozen and does not work. Was still frozen after my 45 minute drive to work. Try spraying it overnight with windshield washer to prevent freezing and ice damage?
View 9 RepliesLast week out of the blue, the lock/unlock button the driver's side door stopped working altogether. It's not stuck, as I can definitely feel it click when pressed. Also, the passenger side button works just fine. This is very annoying after spending a year without ever having to use the actual key fob.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 4 door Sonata, and the Driver door power door lock does not always function. It make a noise like it is working, but most of the time it does not lock or unlock the door. The other doors work fine, and I need to manually lock and unlock the driver door with the key. I'm told that the problem is probably the door lock motor. Looking for some detailed instructions on how to remove and replace this motor?
View 4 RepliesWeird thing happened this evening. About sunset I went out to the front porch and pressed the door lock button on the fob to lock the doors. It honked at me. Never done that before.
Then it started making a loud clicking noise, like a relay, from under the hood. I went around to the drivers door and pressed the unlock button but the doors did not unlock. Pulled the emergency key out of the fob and opened to door.
I was thinking maybe it just wanted me to start it up and recharge for a minute. Haven't driven it since last Thursday before a spell of freezing weather on Friday & Saturday.
Inserted key fob in dash socket & tried to start it - nothing happened except some warning lights on the dash started blinking in time with the relay clicking sound. Turned it off & back on and door locks started clicking like it was trying to lock & unlock.
Kept turning it off and on, tried to manually unlock or lock the doors. Left the door open and went inside & put a new battery in the key fob, went out to try again. Tried to start it but it would not. Eventually, everything stopped except the "Check Engine" light came on. Car still won't start. Now I can't lock the drivers door.
On my 2007 Prius the exterior lock button on the driver door works maybe 1 time out of 10. After shutting all the doors I press it and usually nothing happens (when it works, it locks all the doors and makes the beep sound as expected).
View 6 RepliesWent to get into my B7 this AM and the outside door handle won't open the car. You pull on the handle, and nothing. It pulls out like normal, but acts as though it's not connected to anything. After getting in the passengers door and crawling over the console , the inside door handle moves maybe an inch, and then stops, feeling like something is jammed. Just made an appointment with the dealer, and he said they've had a few problems with the cables inside the door that controls the handles and latch.

View 1 RepliesSo the driver door handle on the inside is no longer solid... it pulls out about 1/4 inch and pulls everything with it. Is this going to be a major adventure to fix (ie ripping the door apart?) or is it something pretty straight forward?
View 2 RepliesI have the car door apart, how to remove the panel on my camry. I got all the way to where I have to remove the outside handle to completely take out the part that has the actuator built in. Everything is all good until I got to this part. How to finish getting the handle off so the part that goes into the electrical mechanism where the actuator can be removed is done. I got the mechanism basically hanging there. I got the two bolts to what I thought was holding the outside handle on. One bolt is on the side of the door covered by a rubber grommit and the there inside the door in the middle of the handle.

It will not unlock the driver side door with either from the handle (while key in your pockets) or with the key fob (when pressing the button). If i go to the passenger side and place my hand on the handle it will unlock the doors except the driver. Is there any remedy to this? Does it have to do with the Actuator?
