I think one of my family members left our 2006 Prius on overnight. Now the doors won't open except with the key and the car won't start. Can the auxillary battery be charged with a battery charger like on a "normal" car?
View 3 RepliesPrius sat in my garage for about a month without moving went to start it up had 0 power, the unlock button on the keys wouldn't even open the doors. So I tried to jump start the car which would kind of work. The car would turn on for a few secs maybe 5 sec then turn right back off. So had the battery tested and came back as bad battery.
View 13 RepliesI've got a prius 2010, how do I lock the car with one of the doors (or hatchback) still open? The car just beeps at you until you close a door... And then it stops beeping, but doesn't lock. I find this to be exceedingly annoying, I'm surprised I couldn't find more than 1 other thread complaining about it. I find it annoying in two common situations:
a) I plan on locking the car with the fob, filling both of my hands full of things and pushing the door shut with my butt. I have no free hands left to find the fob in my pocket and lock the door, or walk around to the driver's side of the car to touch the lock sensor.
b) A passenger is dawdling getting all their stuff ready and plans to catch up with me in 30 seconds. I need the lock the car before I walk away.
Taking longer and longer for key fob to open doors, etc. Assume the battery needs to be changed. Have no problem with other fob. How do you change the battery in the key fob for this year model.

Purchased new fob, did the chicken dance, fob will now start car... but will not open/lock doors remotely. Took battery from working fob and put in new fob, no difference. New fob light blinks like the old working one when buttons are pressed. I do not have the "fob" button under the steering column, just a tire pressure set button there. In another thread someone wrote that with the new fob in the slot, start the car, and open and close the door, and function the locks to set new fob to be able to operated the locks... no luck.
View 4 RepliesI've got a cheap little ELM327 dongle that I was able to use to fix the dreaded backup beep on my 2013 Trim 2. What I'm looking for now are the codes to change the keyfob function so that the first press of the unlock button hits all the doors and the hatch - currently it just unlocks the driver door. (note: this is distinct from the number of doors that unlock when I touch the driver handle - I am aware of the "press both buttons" trick for that).
View 1 RepliesI have my doors set to unlock when I open the driver door. sometimes they do not unlock, there is no rhyme or reason for it, just it gets a wild hair and they don't unlock, drive to the next location and it works as advertised.
View 8 RepliesI rarely drive with anyone else in my 2004 Prius. This week we've had out-of-town guests, with two people in the back seat. When the doors are locked, the front seat passenger can pull on the handle to open the door, but the back seat passengers can't open their doors with the handle until someone in one of the front seats pushes the door unlock button. The child safety locks are not set. I keep getting out of my car and forgetting to push the button to let the back seat passengers open their doors. Is there anything I can do to change this rear door behavior?
View 2 RepliesThe little device that hold doors open (so they don’t swing freely) aren’t very effective on my ’09 model. Actually, it's only a problem on the front doors. The rear doors hold position quite well. The front doors have always been a problem and I wonder if is this typical. Is there a fix (other than replacement)?
View 6 RepliesAll of a sudden, my 2008 prius, basic package without the smart entry system, stopped locking or opening the doors when i pressed the button.
At first i thought it must be a dead battery, so i replaced it with a new one and got the exact same behavior. i checked the old battery and it was still giving off 3 volts as was the new one when i checked that with a volt meter. when i press any of the buttons on the key, a small led light goes on and on the dashboard a picture of a key lights up briefly. the owner's manual does not show the key as a warning light.
I haven't bought my "c-two" yet, but when I do, I'd like the ability to (in the morning) get in and just crack open the windows slightly (to reduce the interior heat build-up as it sits in the sun before I leave for work hours later). Can I do this without starting the gasoline engine? If so, what is the procedure?
View 9 RepliesThe noise seems routine. It happens when you get close to the car and open your door. I guess the car is anticipating that you will start the car soon and under the hood, some subtle mechanical noises occur. Just wondering what that noise is?

View 2 RepliesI'm having a little bit of a problem with my keyless entry. The rear doors are not opening when i touch the handle, but they do lock. My dealer says that this is "normal" though I'm pretty confident that I have used the keyless entry to open the rear doors in the past. I'm not knocking on my dealer, as they've really been good about warranty issues (no questions asked), but i think my SA is misinformed.

Kind of wondering how this could happen, but since I like it that way I don't really want to change it back. Is there a way to toggle this and can I change it so that rear doors and hatchback unlock also when I turn the car off?
