My 2009 Prius was parked for two weeks. When I started yesterday the red triangular warning light, circular yellow light with exclamation symbol in center, and vsc warning lights did not go off. No previous problem with these. Top half of display screen blank. Vehicle started/ran normally. No change in handling or braking. On highway, cruise control would not activate.

View 1 RepliesIn the last 5,000 miles or so, my 2007 Prius has been really burning oil and intermittently the cruise control stops working. No warning lights. Car sounds and feels as usual. 235,000 miles on it. Water pump, thermostat and drive belt replaced 3/2013. Check engine light has been on since about then and diagnosed then as either catalytic converter and/or oxygen sensors and I chose not to fix those as was told not necessary until.
View 3 RepliesI had the cruise control set on the speed limit going up a hill. Half way up, the cruise control dropped as did my speed from 70 to 56. There were no warning lights but the battery meter was in the one bar pink range. I managed to continue up the hill at 56 mph by flooring the accelerator. When I got to the top and started to regenerate power to the battery, I regained power and speed. I am discussing a 2008 Prius with 89k miles. What the issue may be ( like battery pack declining efficiency)?
View 15 RepliesMy cruise light will activate but won't hold speed, it shuts off when I tap the brakes. I did the self test and it went through complete. All buttons worked. After the test it did not show any blinks which according to the chart shows speed control switch faulty, I replaced the switch and does the exact same thing. The recall was also done.
View 8 RepliesI just picked up a 2000 F350 V10 from a buddy of mine. While driving, I will turn my cruise control on but no light comes on. But it does come on when I hit the set/accel or coast button. But the cruise doesn't activate. I tried the self test and the Cruise light lights up after I hit all 4 buttons.
View 2 RepliesMy 07 Prius recently started to get a traction control warning and loss of power on smooth, dry roads at 65mph on an interstate highway..... There was enough space between us and the 80,000 lb truck behind us..... As we slowed the warning abated and power was restored. BUT, the car will not maintain 65 mph without this recurring. Toyota has not been useful. Nothing stored on the pcu indicates what may have occurred.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2006 Prius and was just on vacation for two weeks and my Prius was stored in my garage. My wife just drove the Prius about 6 miles and all the dash lights came on. The car still drives, but the cruise control won't engage. A few months back I replaced the aux 12 V battery as it somehow died, so I don't think that is the problem. When the car is off, the aux battery voltage is 12.5 volts. When it is running the voltage is 13.9 volts.
I disconnected the aux battery and then reconnected it and all the problems went away for a while. Cruise control worked again, too. I just drove it a few more miles and it happened again and just as I got home to go up my steep driveway it would only go about 3 mph. Is that the "limp mode" I have heard about? What this might be? All the dash light are lit - red triangle, check engine, VSC, Brake System, etc. I am a newbie to this site, but I did a search and didn't find much that sounded like this problem. All the lights came on previously when my aux battery died, but the car wouldn't start, so this is somewhat different.
I'm driving to work this morning and a bunch of warning lights came on. I was going uphill and the car wouldnt accelerate, the engine was revving up and my presses on the gas pedal didnt seem to be doing anything. I had to pull over a couple of times after shutting the car off and letting it cool down. Each time the car would eventually display the loss of power (would not accelerate, and engine seemed to be revving high with no input felt from gas pedal). Shutting off car and turning back on would cause this to go away.

View 18 RepliesMy 2010 Subaru Outback recently surprised the hell out of me by simultaneously turning on the brake warning light, the traction control light, the check engine light and (just for a bonus!) disabled my cruise control while flashing the cruise control light. I pulled over, quickly surmising that all of those systems could not have failed at 70 MPH without instantaneous death to either me or the vehicle. Both apparently still being alive, I tried turning the car on an off to reset the lights. No go. Subaru was not going to miss this chance to get me to the dealership! (who I had avoided to this point!) As I was far away from home and the car being very healthy, it seemed, I decided to drive on. I proceeded to put a couple of hundred more miles on the car before I got back to town.
My car had 39,000 miles on it, 3,000 miles beyond the warranty end. I learned that I have an error code of P0171, "Fuel Trim Malfunction (Air/Fuel too lean)". So I guess I'm wondering about a few things...why would this sensor set off every light on my dashboard and disable my cruise control? Seems a bit overblown for running a bit lean. My gut tells me Subaru has a sensor/software problem they are not owning up to. I'm a big fan of conspiracy theories and this really smells like one...
Second, jeez, I'm only 3K miles over warranty, don't you think they'd cut me some slack. I mean I love my Subaru, or did anyway, until this happened. Now it's just another POS car that breaks for no apparent reason...
I'm at my wit's end trying to install cruise control in my 2009 Corolla. I thought it was a relatively easy install, but then after putting the airbag in place, I find that the horn no longer works. I test out the cruise control, and the green "Cruise" lights up on the dashboard..but it doesn't actually work.
View 9 RepliesWhen I first got this car about 2 months ago, my current speed would be displayed in the MFD when the cruise control was set to on (not activated and in use). For some reason now that no longer happens and it just shows dashes. The only time the speed is displayed now is when I am actually using the cruise control. Is there a way to get that thing back to showing my present speed like it did before?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2011 GTI, has about 4000 miles on it. Sunday went for a quick ride down some FM's and on the hi-way. Got up to about 85mpg for about 10 miles, hit the exit back to the house which is only about a mile away. On that mile ride home I took it real easy maybe 35-45 mph decided to have a little AC also (outside temp 90F degrees).
I pulled into the garage sat and idled for about 30 seconds, on the MF display up pops the Cruise Control Malfunction icon ( amber on the MFI,But the owners manual says it's RED. it's a cruise symbol with a giant exclamation ) then it goes away. I looked at my cruise stalk, cruise was Off. I turned it on and up Pops the Malfunction Icon again then goes Off. Took the GTI back out and No Cruise malfunctions. Also, when I did finally park the Car both cooling fans were on for at least 4-5 mins after I had shut everything down.
Did I run my little GTI too hard? Is the Cruise control Malfunction icon like a nuisance message that doesn't really mean anything or, is it a sign CC it's already toast, or getting ready to go.
Earlier this evening on the highway while in cruise control I had a strange issue. Going up a slight incline all of the sudden I lost power, my ESP and EPC lights came on, and the engine was running very strange.
It wasn't stuttering but was louder and vibrating a whole lot more than normal. I pulled over and shut the car off for a couple mins, started it up, everything was normal and continued. About an hour later the same thing happened and when I started up the car again the check engine light was on.
I had my room mate scan it when I got back and it came up with ECM and PCM processor errors. Not sure what kind of problems this would be. All the searches on cruise control didn't turn up anything like this. What the problem would be? The cars a turbo'd r32.
My college son's 2014 Charger V6 has developed three issues since he purchased it used in late May. The cruise control has stopped working and the anti lock brake and traction control lights are constantly on. Any possible cause?
View 15 RepliesStarted my 2010 Prius the other day and the traction control, brake light, abs light and a yellow Astrix light came on and wouldn't go off. The car drives and handles just fine, brakes feel normal. I have tried resetting the lights with a trick with a paper clip someone else posted, but it didn't work for me.
View 7 RepliesEPC light coming on intermittently on the morning causing loss of traction control and cruise control, occurred 4 times in 6 months. No fault code logged in, no CEL in dashboard. The dealer checked for logged codes, none. Also had one time the low coolant level display in dash all during one ride to work (30 km) the coolant tank was full and even if I was cycling the ignition switch it was still displaying it. Back from work it was disappeared and never came back on. all EPC light coming on at morning, and ok when coming back from work 9 hours later. Any clue on this?
Car is 2007 Passat Wagon with 2.0T FSI 6 spd manual
When I turn the cruise control on, a green "cruise" lights up in the center display. When I "set" the cruise so it actually holds my speed; no additional lights come on to indicate the cruise is set. I was wondering if this is normal or should there be one light to indicate the cruise system is on and another when the cruise is set. My Phaeton has the standard cruise and does not adjust for distance.
