Prius (Gen 2) :: Cleared The Codes But Lights Won't Off On Dash

Jan 4, 2012

I have a 2008 Prius. Today my wife said it started driving odd and all the lights on the dash came on. When I got home, I confirmed that all the lights are on, then drove it through the neighborhood. It seemed like it was being really sluggish and you would have to give it more gas than normal to get it going. Then I can hear the battery fan blowing at what seems like full speed through the vent next to the rear passenger door.

I put the car in diag mode by doing the headlight on/off trick 3 times.

When I did that, the following codes are showing in the LAN Monitor EMV screen.

Code Sub Code

01- DC 190- 17- 3

01- D8 190- 14- 1

01- D5 190- 27- 7

01- DB 190- 5C- F

I cleared the codes hoping the lights would go off on the dash, but no luck.

Prius (Gen 2) :: Cleared Codes - Dashboard Lights Not Turning Off

I had a check engine light come on yesterday, so went to go check out the codes today with an OBD scanner. After I plugged in the device, the ABS, VSC, ((!)) and brake lights all came on like they do when the car is started - however, this time they did not turn off.

Pontiac - Grandprix :: EVAP Codes Are Set Almost Instantly After Getting Cleared

I have the notorious EVAP codes that have been intermittent for years now. But a few months ago, the problem got much worse and now codes are set almost instantly after getting cleared. The "Check the Gas Cap" message comes up about once in ten trips.

The thing I noticed almost immediately once the problem became persistent, was the silence. Usually my air pump belts out a high-pitched scream when the car first starts. Now it doesn't seem to come on every start. But, it still comes on sometimes.

So, is the air pump the likely culprit or does the pump not come on under certain conditions (like a loss of vacuum, faulty solenoid, etc)? I know that an A/C compressor won't engage when there's not enough pressure in the system. Is this a similar situation?

Prius (Gen 3) :: Mildew Smell From Vents And Cleared After Few Seconds

Over the last few days, noticed immediately after starting car with AC on , slight mildew smell from the vents. Seems to last a few seconds then clears.

My Gen 3 is just over a year old with 10K miles. Most times my HVAC is set Auto/75/AC on, and use no special procedures to vent the evaporator with non/cooled air prior to shutting off the car.

Prius (2004-09) :: Dash Lights Blinked On / Off And Fob Was Locked In The Dash

My 2006 Prius wouldn't start yesterday. The dash lights blinked on & off and the fob was locked in the dash. About 5 mins. later it came out. I was able to jump start the car with no prob. I drove to the dlr. & they checked the bat. & charging system. They found no problems, but said I might want to R & R the bat. as it's 5 yrs. I want to stick with the stock bat. Aalso stated that the bat. was fully charged & when I went home I plugged in my battery tender. The car was wired for the tender already although I haven't had the need to use it until now.

Prius (2004-09) :: AC Stops Blowing Cool Air / Dash Lights Up With Numerous Warning Lights

I had just picked my kid up from school, as I turn out of the parking lot my A/C stops blowing cool air, I check the A/C screen and it still says it's set on High with temp at 68. However, it is blowing very low with warm air. Seconds later the dash lights up with numerous warning lights. I'm on the highway and I'm able to gather speed, but each time I do I hear the engine revving like crazy. We only live a few miles from the school so I am able to make it home. Once home, I turn off the car and turn it back on. The only warning lights displayed now are the red triangle and the yellow check engine light. I turn the car off, pop the hood, I check the belt and it was fine. I checked the oil and it seemed fine. I check the coolant overflow and it was empty.

Prius (Gen 2) :: Warning Lights With Codes Diagnosed

A few months back, my wife (2007 Prius) was telling me that she had some stuff going on with it. I found the diagnostic test for the 12 v battery and it failed. So I replaced the 12v and everything was fine until about two weeks ago. Two weeks ago, she got a check engine light. Then she stopped the car and when she fired back up again, the light was extinguished. So, I figured no big deal. Yesterday, she went to leave and the car was lit up like a Christmas tree. So she took my truck to work and left me a note about this. She figured I would drive my garage queen Vette... but I chose to drive the Prius to see if I could figure out some things, which I did.

Here is everything that I noticed thus far:

First, I will start with lights. Brake System Warning light is on, Check engine malfunction indicator is on, Red triangle with exclamation point Master warning light is on, VSC Vehicle stability control system warning light is on. Then on the tv screen panel, the Hybrid system warning light is on. I ran down to O'Reilly's to see what codes it pulled, and this is what I have: C0200 Right VSS, C0205 Left VSS, C1259 Regenerative Malfunction, C1310 Malfunction H/V System, P1121 Coolant flow control, X2 Valve Sensor Circuit stack, P0A80 Replace Hybrid Battery Pack, P3015 Battery Block 5 Becomes Weak, P3016 Battery Block 6 becomes weak, and then a few more repeats.

What I have looked at and what I have noticed/experienced thus far; At the beginning of the day yesterday, when stopped at a light, the engine would turn on and then shut off frequently (approx every 20 seconds). A lot more than normal. As of today, the engine just stays on constantly... even after the battery indicator shows full, it stays running. The battery cooling fan stays running. Sometimes the car lacks power at start out, When slowing down, I tried selecting the "B" as I know that it would normally work as a trans brake and regenerate power, it doesn't seem to be doing that and it seems as though the tranny doesn't know exactly what to do. I checked the 12v battery again through the diagnostic and it says it was at 12.2v so that should be good. I noticed that the battery indicator will show full and then just drop down to one bar and then go back up to full and stay at full for a while. Lastly, I saw the inverter check and I did that by turning the car on (ready on) and I can see the fluid moving around and I can feel it in the tube and the fluid level is good.

It sounds to me as if the ECM/ECU may be bad. Or maybe the HV battery. I was leaning towards the ECM/ECU just because of all of the different fluctuations, but with electrical stuff, it could very well be the battery.

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2008 Warning Lights With Codes Came On After Oil Change

2008 Prius with @ 70K. Never any problems.

My wife goes and has the oil changed at one the 'stay in your car' 10 minutes changes. They change the oil and replace a couple burnt out bulbs. Goes back to the oil place, they throw it on the computer and read a PO101 and PO171 code. "has to do with with the fuel mixture". She goes to work 11 miles and back. This a.m.

1. Check Engine with !

2. VSC

3. another light with !

Prius (2001-03) :: Spongy Brakes - No Lights Or Codes

So I've got spongy brakes on my 2003 Prius. I've flushed the whole system twice. Replaced the hoses, pads, rotors, shoes, and drums. Still spongy. I'm not sure what to check next. No lights or codes. I'm leaning toward the master cylinder. You can pump the brakes up when they become spongy and they hold solid. If you practically stand on the brake pedal it will slowly bleed down. This tells me the fluid pressure must be escaping somewhere. I don't want to just blindly replace parts.

Prius (2001-03) :: Check Engine And Red Exclamation Lights On With Codes

My daughter 03 Prius died on her, the codes it threw are listed as P3108, P3191,P3101. We cleaned MAF and throttle and this did not solve the problem. We replaced the MAF with a remanufactured unit from O'Reilly's and now the car drives normally, but the check engine and red exclamation light are still on.

Prius (2001-03) :: Codes P3130 And P0303 - Warning Lights Going On And Off

I've been having issues with my beloved 2003 with a little over 130k with warning lights going on and off. I went to O'Reilly's they gave me the codes P3130 and P0303. One of codes states "misfiring on all cylinders," they didn't have a description for the other one.

Dealership won't tell me anything about what the codes mean. The warning lights are an exclamation point inside a triangle, check engine, and what looks like a thermometer in red.

Just got the oil changed a little over a week ago, dealership said they didn't notice any problems. Warning lights came back on last Thursday and just disappeared about an hour ago.

Prius (Gen 2) :: All Dash Lights Come On - Car Stuck

Well, started up my car from a neighbor's home this morning. All fine. About 30 seconds later, more or less and the red triangle and all the dash lights come on (check engine, brake light, tire light, etc.) The display screen that shows consumption, etc. was a bit dim, and at the top was a faint small triangle with a ! mark in it also.

I had just started up my quarter mile long single-track driveway, which is quite steep. Was panicked, but knew I could not stop there. Kept going.

The battery kept going down.

I made it to a turn out just as the battery bar turned from blue to purple (two bars left).

Stopped car.

Opened hood. Saw nothing.

Opened hatch. did not know what to do, but checked the ground from the 12-volt to the car. Good and solid.

Prius (Gen 1) :: Codes P3006, C1213, C1259 With Warning Lights Diagnosed

Here is my situation- back in 2014 I had a local mechanic replace my HV battery and 12V battery after the Red Triangle of Death. Well yesterday that triangle reared its ugly head again! (and cruise control stopped working) Since this mechanic has 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty on all parts and labor, I figured this should be covered. I drove my wife's car to work today, then after work drove the Prius over there to find them closed until Friday!

So I had the guys at Advanced Auto read the codes for me and got P3006, C1213, and C1259. I have done extensive reading and researching, much of it on this site on these codes, but my main question is this:

I commute about 20 miles one way, and on certain days my wife commutes 10 to 22 miles the opposite direction. There are 3 days we go opposite ways this week, and at least one that is completely unmanageable without 2 cars.

Prius (2004-09) :: Lost Acceleration - Warning Lights And Fault (DTC) Codes

2008 Prius recently lost acceleration (would only creep along) and soon stopped. Warning lights - red triangle with !, red split car on mid, check engine - came on. About 10 minutes later the car started and allowed my daughter to creep the last 1/4 mile home. DTC's - P0A3F and P2196. Was recently gassed up, so checked gas cap, thinking it may have set the oxygen sensor code. It was loose, tightened it. Pulled the EFI fuse for a couple minutes to reset the codes (not sure it did). Put the smart key back in and warning lights came on again. May have to take to dealer, but would like to have some notion as to what's causing this. Possibly related -- a couple weeks ago the 12V battery got drained overnight. Pulled it and recharged and everything seemed to be running fine.

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2005 - Many Dash Lights When Powered Up

Just bought a 2005. My wife had turned the car on and had the heater on while I was loading groceries. Then I got in, hit the power button, and the console turned on (though I don't think 'ready' came up), and several of the dash lights came up as amber. ABS, VSC, and 3-4 others. I couldn't shift. After 20 seconds or so of confusion, I turned it back off, sat for a second, and turned it back on again - worked fine.

Prius (2001-03) :: Dash Lights Burned Out

I am having a problem that has been cropping up the last two weeks or so. Steadily, several bulbs on my dash have been popping, but it is very strange as the pictures will attest. Does these are hard wired bulbs or can they be replaced? Right now, I don't want to pull apart the dash unless I know for sure they are replaceable. You would figure the number of times I have taken it apart I would have noticed.
