I have a Prius 2007 , my maintenance light turn on , and I changed my oil . After that I reset my mileage as it is written on the manual but still the light is on . Can it cause the dangerous problem to my engine.

View 3 RepliesI am just out of the dealer service period (2 years, 25000m). I took my Prius -v (3) 2012 to my mechanic. He did the oil and filter change, but could not reset the Maint Reqd light. It seems it is different from the regular Prius. I looked on the forum, and tried the suggestions, but none worked. It was supposed to be (with odometer showing).
Turn the “POWER” switch to ON mode. The multi-information displays initial screen will be displayed for a few seconds. While the initial screen is being displayed, press the “TRIP” steering switch (→P. 186) 3 times, pressing and holding the switch on the third time. I tried doing this both with my foot on the break and off, but all I got was a reset trip.
Got 14 Prius V back from first maintenance today and noticed the mechanic forgot to reset the light. So I called my advisor and she told me what to do. Here is process for others to share:
1. Set odo/trip to Trip A
2. Turn off vehicle
3. Hold down mi/hr-km/hr button on dash
4. While holding down button, turn on vehicle to ON state (Press Power button TWICE, but DO NOT press brake pedal - you don't want engine to start)
5. Wait while Maint Req light flashes, then goes off completely - about 4 seconds.
6. Turn off vehicle.
I changed the oil. Then I needed to reset the maintenance light. I followed the owners manual directions, which worked and I saw the 00000000 in the odometer. Now all the warning lights are on and the car won't start. I suspect it's related to the order or timing of pushing the start button but I'm afraid to try too many times. What this is?

View 8 RepliesRight now my car is approaching 4K miles.. but in a couple of weeks my wife will be taking a long trip that will easily put her over the 5K mile mark, and If I was told correctly, that means the "maintenance" light will come on.... is there a way I can reset that before she leaves, or at least a way I can tell her how to reset it when it comes on while she's out of town.. Kinda silly to have the maintenance light come on every 5K when they suggest 10K oil changes.

View 1 RepliesI have 2600 miles on my 2012 mdl II. A month old. I have been averaging 47.5mpg since day one based on miles driven and gas put back in tank at each fill up. I have used only Mobil bottom 87 oct gas.Last fill up got me 48.2, very nice, then I filled up with mid grade 89 oct as it was all I could get then. The next day I was in the dealer for my 1000 mile checkup. when I got out my battery was down to 25%, okay no biggie. Then from there on out I notice my mpg changed alot. The comps used to read 49.1-50.1. Now it reads 42.2-44.1. I drive the same way and my 85 mile round trip to work hasn't changed. My first fill up since the dealer, got me 45.0 mpg. wow a big drop off.

View 14 RepliesI just found out today!!! that if you leave it in the odo display, the car will automatically reset your gas mileage to zero every time you restart the car. That is so handy to improve my driving style , especially over the same route. Cannot believe I did not know that!!!!
View 2 RepliesI have a 2008 prius and had to change my drivers side airbag recently. Before it was changed, it started just fine, but now after it was changed and the airbag computer was reset the car doesn't start. It does shift from park to neutral, but not into drive, reverse or B position.
