Prius (Gen 2) :: Can HV Battery Individual Modules Be Scanned For Fault Indication
Jun 29, 2013
I have 05 Prius, 97,000 miles. Noticed the HV battery charge level indicator moves up and down rather quickly and often. It rarely shows full charge and this condition seems to be worsening. This is with mostly city driving.
I'm concerned that the HV battery won't last much longer. To make matters worse I had recently moved to AZ heat, though my Prius is garaged, the heat can't be good for it.

I'm hoping I can get some diagnostic insight into a problem I just started seeing on my 2007 Prius. I have had the Prius for a little over 4 years. Currently around 123K miles.
Starting two days ago I noticed when I started driving that the engine was constantly running and when pulling out from a stop sign just up the road from my house the acceleration was sluggish. I look at the MFD and see the hybrid battery is nearly drained. Unusual because it was blue or green when I parked the night before. Driving for a few minutes, the battery fills back up and driving is normal. The only warning light is for a tire pressure sensor which just started to come on that day. Over the last two days I get the same thing at start up. Hybrid battery is drained. Lights aren't left on over night. Tire sensor light is constantly on but I checked the tires and pressure is good all around. Nothing plugged in anywhere to drain battery. The 12V battery was replaced maybe a year or so ago with an Optima yellow top, so not likely the issue. I checked diagnostic codes in the MFD and came up with a lot of codes:
LAN Monitor EMV:
01-DB 190- 40- 5
01-DE 178- FA-1
01-DB1F1- E5- 4
01-DB 110- 8A- 7
01-DB 178- 46- 3
LAN Monitor NAVI:
01-E3 - 00- F

I have 2005 Prius with 300k miles. I started throwing P0A80 code. I removed the battery and checked all the modules and found 2 of low voltage, ordered them from Ebay and replaced them. I placed the battery back in the car and started the car but got P0A80 code again. I purchased the grid charger from Hybrid Automotive and connected it according to their instructions for 24 hours. I drove a car but got the red triangle again and P0A80 code again. I removed the battery again and tested the voltage of all the modules and these are the readings:

I have a 2005 Prius Gen II with 114,000 miles on it. I was driving last week when it suddenly displayed a Christmas tree of lights that included VSC and the triangle of death....and of course the battery fan kicked into high gear.
Hooked it into a OBD II scanner:
P0A80 "Hybrid battery pack over temperature"
P3019 "battery block 7 becomes weak"
P3000 "DSL solenoid circut low"
P0300 "random misfire detected"
P000A "engine position system performance- bank 1"
Also C1241, C1242, c1249, c1259, c1310, c1357
I went ahead and cleared the codes. The angry lights went away but came back within minutes of driving. The car went into limp mode but I was able to make it home.

Didn't even know it existed until it started blinking, but my key fob has a tiny little red LED that just started blinking today. I am guessing it means the battery is dying.

When I start engine usually your dashboard light turn on, eng, seatbelts, etc. but that doesn't happens, but engines starts for awhile and than you see the volt indicator drawing negative. And after few minutes of running it dies and will not start, battery is dead, I believe there is a short circuit or a relay problem....

I've had my Prius v about a month. I uploaded my phone address book but there are many numbers I don't want to have on the car address book. Is there a way to delete individual entries in the address book?

I have been posting about P3125 fault which is inhibiting ICE from starting. During this time I have been charging and also testing the traction battery so that I could continue to investigate the P3125 problem.

I have a 2003 Prius with a hard falt code of P3000 main battery bad! But there is not anything wrong with the batt or how it runs. I cleared the code and in 10 miles or so it comes right back? I was thinking of a reflash on the computer, what to do?

My daughter recently bought a 2006 Prius with 170K, Car was running great at purchase time with no issues but unfortunately the honeymoon was short lived. Less than 50 miles, she got the check engine light and red triangle. Car seems to still to drive fine. Had a dealer near Knoxville TN pull the codes and the only code was a P0A9C - Hybrid Battery Temperature (Sensor A) Range / Performance. Was informed also as they checked history on the car that another dealer had recommended a new hybrid battery and inverter. Dropped by the other dealer today to get the codes that they had seen. The codes they had pulled at 169K on the vehicle were:
P0A80 - HV Battery Cell Delta State of Charge Fault.
P3016 - either a bad cell, or a shorted cell in the hybrid battery
P0A08 - dc/dc converter status circuit.

I have a 2009 Prius with less than 10,000 miles. Lately I have run into car starting up problems. I have smart key, but what happens is that even after pressing the brakes all the way and pressing the ON button, it won't start, it would just go into the state where all the indication lights on the dashboard are on. But so far I have been able to start it after a few tries, like after giving it some time etc.

Why, when braking in reverse, there seems to be no "charge" indication on the HSI...for example, backing down a long driveway, etc.

I have a 2001 Passat 1.8 Turbo engine trim is AUG. My car is acting funny since yesterday. When i start my car it idles rough and CEL start flashing but as soon as i drive at like 10-15 MPH speed it becomes smooth and CEL stops blinking. I took my car to autozone and have it scanned got P0340 P0300 P0301 and P0302. It means random misfire and misfire in cylinder 1 and 2. I am not getting the misfire code for cylinder 3AND 4.
I swap coil boot 1,2 with 3 and 4. But misfire didn't move with cylinder. So i waited whole night reset CEL and swap coil 1 with 4 and 2 with 3. Have i scanned again not i am getting P0300 = random misfire and P0302 = misfire in cylinder 2. I didn't get P0301 this time.

Having issues with the instrument cluster and lost communication trouble codes. My truck has been having issues and it loses comm with all the modules. All the warming lights the truck has come up on the LED screen in the dash and if I turn it off it will not start. Most recently my traction control light stays on and my tranny is locked into 5th gear. I have park, reverse & 5th gear. Most recent DTC's are lost come with TCM & ABS control module. It seems to be getting more consistent but was very intermittent. Spent a week at ford with no progress. Truck wont start for a full day and then will start the next morning? When its bugging out it wont even prime the fuel system of turn over. Cab was off last fall to install SPE diesel STG 2 short block, Industrial compound turbo kit & water/meth kit. truck has been amazing and insane power until recent electrical/computer issues. When truck is bugging out tuner will not communicate with the truck and cannot read codes or remove programmer.

I am used to hitting my lock button on my key fob and hearing the horn honk to confirm it is locked. Is there a way to have the horn blow as well as see the lights bling to indicate the doors are locked?

This doesn't really have any bearing on my decision, it's just something I've noticed. My parents have a 2011 Camry and it does not have the individual "hash marks" on the gauges (or at least I didn't notice them during my test drive). In looking at photos of various Camrys online I see a mixture. I'm only looking at I4 XLE models so that should remove the variables out. I've seen both on 2010 and 2011, so it doesn't appear to be a model year deal.
With Hash Marks (this one is a 2010):
(This one is a 2011)
Non-Hash Marked (this one is a 2011)
What is the deciding factor in which cluster goes where?

Took my battery out to install my boost gauge today... After putting it all back together; when I start the motor, the steering wheel type light and the stabilization control light stay on. Also on the MFD, it says "Fault: Stabilization Control".
As a side note, I can no longer re-set the tire pressure light as well... My dash is lit up like a friggin christmas tree.

Like the title says, I was driving into work today and it came on three times. It went off for a little each time and then came back on.

The gate to the right of the PRNDL gate of the automatic transmission in my 2003 1.8T with the "+" and "-" stopped working. What may be wrong? The transmission works fine and shifts normally. I did replace the fluid recently but did nothing except remove the fluid and refill.

Removed the battery to install a boost gauge and came back to a christmas tree cluster. Not just the usual steering/EPC either. I can post the expanded scan but you can see a lot of things are affected, still drives fine however. Airbag fault and parking brake fault appear on MFD as well.
