Sep 14, 2013
I have a small area in the hood (2008) with paint bubbled up.

View 8 RepliesI was washing my car yesterday and I was on the driver side washing by the headlamp. I noticed that their was no gap between the headlamp and the bumper where they meet. I further noticed that the bumper didn't match up right in the wheel well. Also the paint is bubbled up under the headlamp. I proceeded to the other side of the car and everything is normal.
I am slightly ticked off about this. I don't know what to think about this. The strange thing is that there are no scratches or dents or anything of that nature on the messed up side. Could this be something messed up from the factory since there are no scratches or dents? I don't really want to take this to the dealer.
Problem with the paint chipping/flaking on the hood of a 2010 LE? I have three spots, about 1/16"-1/8" on my hood that have chipped/flaked and you can see the primer. I don't think that I have been hit by flying debris but that's not to say that it couldn't be the case. I'm thinking of mentioning it to the dealer when I go in for my 20K service just so it is on record should there be some future TSB/recall for a paint problem. Car has been on the road for 18 months.
View 14 RepliesOver the past few months I have noticed a line running across the front of my hood where the paint is starting to come off. The rest of the hood is starting to look like the clear coat is coming off too. I wax it every few months. This is the only part of the car that is doing this.
I have looked around to see if there is a corrosion warranty or something and cant find anything. Is there anything I can do about it. 2003 VW Passat...
I have an 2007 ES350, midnight blue in color. Paint peeling off the hood and trunk area?
View 1 RepliesJust bought a 2011 Black Prius IV. Curious if use wax to protect the paint job from fading?
View 16 RepliesThe top of my cars paint is chipping off. Is there a way to stop the process from getting worse?
View 3 RepliesI went to an outdoor auto show the other day. When I got home I saw some white paint looking dots on my car. The dots are the size of salt, peppered on top of my car. I can only see it up close. I started using my nails to get them off, they started to break down and some of them started to have fiberglass looking "tails",after some effort I was able to remove a few. I can't see myself doing that on the whole car. Not sure if I should use the clay bar on it, I don't want to scratch the paint.
I'm going to try some of these tips tomorrow, but mine doesn't look like spray paint. It's like some kind of alien paint/fiberglass mix.
This is minor but the paint on all four of the door handles on my 2007 silver Prius is cracking. The rest of the car looks great! What is the best way to touch them up?
View 1 RepliesI used self fusing silicone tape as paint protector on door handle and door sill. I am not sure how it will hold up, but it's supposed to be very durable.
Unless you take the picture with flash light, it's not really noticeable...
Each roll is about 10'.
My BP Prius is under 3500 miles for two months. I don't realize until this morning that paint is scratched like "cat nail whew". I'm the only driver with no long nails and never had that problem with other cars it at less 10 years older car.
View 17 RepliesI was the victim of someone scratching the rear door on the left side. I can feel with it with my fingernail. Is it best to have a pro fix it come Spring time.. I have a '15 Pearl White Persona.
View 18 RepliesMy 2013 Red Prius C started to chip on the door edges around 6 months after purchase. My guess is it has something to do with the extremely thin/light metal used to make the car and the quality of the paint. I've owned the car for 2 1/2 years now and the problem is only getting worse. The dealership says I'm the only person to ever have this issue and blamed me.
View 6 RepliesI have a 1997 Ford Econoline conversion campervan that I don't use very often. I need to open the hood to jump start the battery. Last time I opened the hood I did not notice anything wrong with the hood or the hood release latch inside the cab. Now when I pulled the hood release latch inside the cab, nothing happens to the hood at all (the hood does not open at all).
Is there a way I can open the hood or do I need to tow it to my mechanic?
The latch thing that you pull on to pop the hood has broken, any other way to open the hood up?
View 24 RepliesMy hood does not want to open. The hood will not pop up enough to allow me to unlatch it and open it. Currently, the workaround is to insert a very thin screwdriver into the weatherstriping between the hood and the bumper and gently "nudge" the hood open.
View 19 RepliesI have a used 2010. Came home to my car rifled through (I left it unlocked) door not completely closed, 12v battery dead because of interior lights. Jumped it. Got it into ready mode. Thought I left it on enough to charge the battery. Locked it. Unlocked and locked it with the fob... no problem.
Came back later in the day, now dead and locked. Car didn't come with manual key. Very expensive to replace so i skipped it. Is that now my only solution without damaging the car? How to open the hood so I can jump it?
I loved my 2009 Prius until this weekend. I just turned over 31,000 miles and now a loud humming noise has developed under the hood while driving. It has not been cold here and this doesn't start until I reach around 24 mph. It remains while the gas engine is running or I'm coasting with the engine off. The humming is there in D or in N and there no sound while turning. When I am under 24 mph the noise is gone. I have set up an appointment with my Toyota dealer for this week, but wanted to know ahead of time if any other Prius owners have had this issue.
View 5 RepliesI am noticing a sort of clunk or knocking noise from under the hood when I hit the brakes. I thought it might be the pads, but it comes from under the hood .It only makes the sound on the first touch of the brake, once you have your foot on the pedal it stops the noise. It does this every time on the first application of the pedal. Is this sound normal? I don't recall hearing it when I test drove the car, maybe it's been there all along and I am just now making note of it.
View 5 RepliesI'm experiencing vibration somewhere under the hood during start. I recently replaced the serp. belt and think it could be over-tensioned.
Possible?
Dangerous?
Or just the new belt needs to stretch?
I have a P2 and after oil change, I noticed a bit strange engine sound while the engine hood was open. Is that sound normal? Usually I do not notice much of engine sitting as driver inside the car.
