Back door my 2007 prius Wont open I've opened it with the manual latch from the inside underneath in the luggage compartment and reset the power locks but it doesn't make any difference I still can't open the door from the outside.
View 4 RepliesA thin blanket is caught in the lock of the rear hatch door. I have removed the cover on the utility box inside the car, and moved the lever but that did not work. I can hear the mechanism working when pressing the unlock but the door does not release. I tried pulling the blanket but it does not budge. I don't want to cut the blanket away because I could not reach what is stuck in the mechanism.
View 3 RepliesIs there a way to open the back door while the car is in ready? I don't thing there's a trunk release or the equivalent & touching the handle on the back doesn't work until I turn the car off.
Obviously, this is a good safety feature, but I'm wondering if there's a way to open the trunk without turning the engine off since 6 months of the year I keep the heater running in the morning as we're getting ready to leave the house (-14C or 0F forecast tonight, or what we call "spring weather").
My passenger rear door latch will not open. (06 Sonata 4cyl) It has no give when you pull it so I have to roll down the window and reach out.
View 2 RepliesI have an '01 Focus Wagon. I've had this problem with the latching mechanism for a while, but it's gotten worse as time progresses. The latch catches and closes the door. The trunk isn't going to open, but it does not close fully. As a result, the door ajar light is always on my console. I used to fix it by manually closing the latch with by hand and then re-opening the latch. It closed almost every time after I did that. But now, even that is not working.
View 2 RepliesI rarely drive with anyone else in my 2004 Prius. This week we've had out-of-town guests, with two people in the back seat. When the doors are locked, the front seat passenger can pull on the handle to open the door, but the back seat passengers can't open their doors with the handle until someone in one of the front seats pushes the door unlock button. The child safety locks are not set. I keep getting out of my car and forgetting to push the button to let the back seat passengers open their doors. Is there anything I can do to change this rear door behavior?
View 2 RepliesI have a light flickering on and off that claims the door is open, after a few months and a lot of testing I have come to the assumption that the sensor in my trunk hatch is sending a relay to the computer as if the door is open.... I can't find a latch sensor or relay for this thing, just the striker plate and the wiring that unlocks the switch as well as the wiring for the rear wiper blade....
View 3 RepliesI am pretty satisfied with the performance of my 2009 Ford Escape. Two years 51,000 miles after I find that the rear door does not open. Following threads of earlier Escape models I find how to remove the inside panel and open it manually. After a thorough study all I need is a replacement latch motor. The plastic latch cover has the following number GA6 GF30.
View 14 Replies I have a nice 2000 Durango 4x4 SLT, automatic. I have some problems.
1) The drivers door outside latch will not open the door, the inside latch works fine.
2) The shifter on the transfer case is loose, it appears that the drive was left in 2wd since I have been able to use it. But it will not shift?
3) The steering wheel feels like it has a lot of play in it, also feels like a knuckle is in it when I turn it. It sometimes slips on turns at speed?
With the car off and me standing at rear hatch and it is raised I pushed the latch closed manually and I can't figure out how to release it back to the unlatched position. I tried the door locks to no avail.
As an aside I was doing this to troubleshoot why my alarm is going off alot. I have a relative new yellowtop battery installed and will replace the fob battery later.
My 2002 Santa Fe Back Hatch Door will not open. I have removed the inside panel & all the linkage seems to work OK. But the main latch will not let go & I cannot see where to trip it. How I can get it opened, just can't see where to trip it but believe it can be done from inside.
View 4 RepliesSo two or so months ago, I had the battery replaced in my 1999 Saturn SL2. About two weeks ago, something strange began happening, but only in the morning when I went to leave the house for work. I get in the car, turn the key in the ignition, and the car won't start--the clock and dash lights will come on for a split second, then go off. I'll try again, and this time the clock won't come on, the dome light won't come on--it's as if the battery is completely dead.
Here's the strange part: when I open and shut my car door, THEN the clock and dome light come back on. Same thing with my keyless entry: after I try to start the car and it won't start, keyless entry doesn't work. Then, I open and close the door and the keyless entry suddenly works again. So generally I have to go through this process of turning the key in the ignition and opening and closing the door for about 5 minutes. Then, the car will start as if nothing happened and it will be fine for the rest of the day.
No matter how many places I travel, how many times I stop somewhere and turn the car off, it always starts when I come back. It's only in the morning that it does this. Occasionally, I've been able to go 2 or 3 days without a problem (i.e., it WILL start in the morning). Today, though, it took a good 10 minutes to start, and I'm worried some day soon here it's just not going to start at all.
When you pull the handle on the door it doesn't latch on to anything to open the door, whats wrong?
View 6 RepliesI am trying to find out which fuse is linked to the back door motor because the window works but the back door does not click, move or open. There is a motor on it that usually pulls it fully closed and none of it is responding.

View 13 RepliesThe wife and I bought a 2014 Santa Fe 2.4 FWD back in August and so far we are pretty happy with it. A few issues have come up in the first couple months of ownership.
1) The dreaded squeak from the rear passenger side started a couple months ago. I’m going to try the easy fixes first (adjusting the tailgate stops, etc) then take it to the dealership if that doesn't work. I hope they don’t have to do the spot weld fix but if that’s what it is, oh well.
2) Another issue that just came up as of recently is that it’s leaking coolant out of some strange fitting on the front o
My driver side back suicide door won't open. It is the top latch that is not disengaging. I think I heard something loose in that door over the past month. Am I going to have to take off the inside panel to fix it?
View 14 RepliesMy passenger and back door windows won't open with the use of their switches. I can open all three with the master control. I thought the master switch was bad and replaced it. The problem persists. Are these individual switches for the passenger and back doors in series, where one goes out and none work ?
