View 7 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius. The black square key is stuck in the ignition and won't come out. I can hear clicking sound under the hood -- perhaps the battery. But the car won't start; the clock is off and the doors don't lock, except manually.
View 17 Replies01 Passat ... The small black square plastic piece that connects to the bulb of my headlight has melted and wanted to replace it. I just don't know what the part is called.
View 1 RepliesI had my headlights on last night and while I was driving through a few small tunnels my dashboard and Navigation lights went so dim....basically black.....I could barely see anything on them. What is this and how can I fix it?
View 11 RepliesThis is 2008 Prius. I'm curious on how much gas is left with 1 blinking square left on fuel guage. I've driven 50 more miles since it started blinking. The car runs at ~ 47MPG on commutes everyday. The last time I had it blinking on highway, I filled up the gas in the next exit. My estimate was there were still 2.5 Gallons left when it started blinking. I have a gas tank with a few gallons of gas so I'm not concerned that I may be stranded on road.
View 19 RepliesI just got my prius a few weeks ago and I am curious as to what the little button on the driver door handle does? I can't find anything in the manually unless I just skipped over it.
View 7 RepliesDeliver mail so make many starts and stops throughout the day. I drive a 1988 Mazda 323 manual transmission. Recently, it has had trouble starting in the rain (like it isn't turning over). When it isn't going to start, the red lights come on the dash and then fade out to black.
The first time I noticed it, I was running the lights, windshield wipers, radio, rear window defogger and the a/c on and off to clear up the front window. It eventually started. The mechanic replaced the battery.
The next time it wouldn't start, I had accidentally killed it and was running the lights and windshield wipers and radio. It eventually started. The mechanic replaced the alternator.
The next time it wouldn't start, I only had the the lights and windshield wiper on. It eventually started. The mechanic replaced the distributor cap and wires.
Now today, it wouldn't start again but eventually did. I had the lights and windshield wipers and radio on. I turned off the radio before trying to start it the second time and it started.
I have a 2002 Accent. The blue back lighting on the dash are out. The mileage lights are on. The back lighting will come on for a bit and then off again.
View 3 RepliesLast night battery light came on. Drove 40 miles home with lights on. Today, it started so I headed out. About 10 miles of battery light on, gauge fluctuating mildly either side of middle, gauge suddenly drops dramatically. I turn around and head back. After a mile or so there's a terrible growling under the hood, sounded like it could be an alternator bearing. Just as I pull over, the noise stops but entire dash goes black. Popped hood, alternator spinning quietly and not hot. I drove back and it started stumbling and surging as the battery died and it finally quit almost all the way back.
I have battery on charger now. I assume the BCM is the regulator by feeding current back to the field? If so could the growling be the BCM feeding back a huge field and the rectifier bridge growing? And the BCM fuse blew because too much current to alternator field coils? Will it start with a charged battery with the BCM dead? I need it to run to get to the parts place. Which fuses do I need to check? Then, how do I check the alternator, wiring, BCM regulator to find original problem?
So I just purchased a 2011 F350 6.7 this week...I've had absolutely no problems until I drove it to the dealer just to get it detailed...I give the salesman my key and he comes back and says it won't start...we tried numerous time to start it...put jump boxes on both batteries and nothing...had full power to all accessories but when attempting to crank it would black out on the dash screen and give me a "stop vehicle" warning....does this deal with security?....also after hassling to get rental for a hour or so,we tried agian and it fired right up?!?...also it started double honking when locking. ..is that due to the hood being up?
View 3 RepliesI've been told by friends driving behind me that every time I accelerate I emit a plume of black smoke followed by a stream of black colored "water". I checked today by having the wife rev the engine to 4.5k...sure enough, black water shoots out of my exhaust, probably 3 oz. I also see a black puff of smoke which I assume is more normal than the water. Is this commonplace ?
View 2 RepliesHeard a 'what was that ' noise as I was backing out of the garage this morning. Can't see any cause, but when I looked at the gear selector image on the dash, the letter 'R' had a square around it and the square is flashing . No other letters have a square .
View 4 RepliesThe Square digital area in cluster where it tells the miles MPG and etc is solid red. why?
View 3 RepliesWhat the square piece on the passenger side of the front bumper, in line with the GTI emblem is? The other day I noticed that it appeared to have popped out slightly. I push it back into place, (it snaps into place) but i again noticed today after my commute home it had slightly popped out again. What does this cover and has any experience of it popping out?
View 14 RepliesYesterday as I started my V-6 a yellow symbol came on in the top of my center multifunction display. It was a yellow circle with a small square on top of it. There was no script, no symptoms, and when I restarted, has gone away ever since. I looked in the manual but could find no information on this symbol.
View 4 Replies2007 5.4 F150. Is the radiator drain the square yellow nylon (?) fitting at the bottom right of the radiator? Does it screw out and the coolant come out the little spigot ? Would like to make sure before I get in there and destroy things....
View 5 RepliesI am wanting to swap out my mirrors from the adjustable "egg-shaped" superduty on my 2004 to the newer style square type mirrors. I like the newer style mirrors, because i drive an F-550 at work and it has those mirrors on it and it makes towing and seeing in general a heck of a lot better and easier. The question is, Is this conversion possible? Will the newer style mirrors fit on an older truck like mine?
View 14 RepliesMy 2007 Prius MFD is black 98% of the time. Every once in a while the screen will come on and function properly for a short period of time then go out again. It appears to be a bad connection.
View 8 RepliesIf I lift the carpeting on the left side of the trunk and lift the panel, there is a black box with a threaded stud sticking up. There is no fastener on this stud. This may be the mount for the flux capacitor, an option I chose not to get.
View 5 RepliesRecently the keyless entry buttons (lock, unlock, panic) buttons stopped working. The red light still came on (strong), but car wouldn't unlock. The key still works for starting the car, but having to use the manual key to enter.
What I have tried:
Ensured this is Option Package 1 car, no push button to disable the SKS from under the dash Tried the reprogramming steps here in this post (though I would say they are not 100% clear) Read the owner manual pages 20-40 Gave up and spent $5 on another CR2032 battery (did not work).
During a recent vacation, while driving at night, the MPH display went black. I completed the drive to the hotel, resolving to change the fuse in the morning. When I started the car in the morning, the display was still black. I checked the fuse I thought should be involved (#22), but it was good. The MPG / MPG screen was still bad. Not wanting to drive an additional 400 miles back home without a speedometer, I called the closest dealership to get an appointment. The 2010 has 33K miles on it .
When we packed up and started the car for the trip to the dealer, everything was working. One week later and all is good. I plan on getting this anomaly recorded with Toyota just in case it happens again after the warrantee runs out.
