Prius (2004-09) :: Engine Sounding Louder Than Normal If Accelerating At Quick Speed
I took my car to the car wash and they seemed to take longer to vacuum/wash it and while driving it away, I noticed something was off. It seems like the engine is louder than normal. Before when starting the car, it would take 30 seconds to a minute before the battery/engine would come on. Then while accelerating to about 25-35 mph, then the engine would come into gear. When going on the freeway, if accelerating at a quick speed it would sound really loud. Now, it seems like instead of silent, quiet, a little louder, louder and loudest - it's moved to the next level. When starting the car, the engine starts right away and when driving away (at less than 25 mph), the engine sound like I am on the freeway and when I'm on the freeway it sound like I'm trying to gun the engine. I don't know what it could be.

I have a 2007 Explorer with around 79,000 miles on it and it has been in for assorted repairs over the last 6 months. Cooling issues, Losing all Coolant, Rough sounding engine, Stalling while driving, The mechanic has said they replaced much of everything each time I take it in. But now it was in for a fuel pump and while they were test driving it he said the Internal balance Shaft exploded and shrapnel is in the engine. His solution replace the engine with a 2008 has 38k on it for $2K. Does this sound right?
Do these Explorers have issues like this?

My Mazda 3i has been acting up a bit lately, where the engine has been getting louder (particularly in 4th gear, though it's a pretty quiet car so I might not be able to tell in lower gears). This morning, there also was a faint ticking, 1/second or so that went away once the car warmed up.
Recent work that has been done to it: Brakes replaced, Oil changed, fluids topped off.
Prius (Gen 2) :: Exhaust Louder - Water Drip Out From Engine Side Of Resonator
Noticed a louder sound to my exhaust. Cuts out when ice shuts off. Haven't got a good look at the whole exhaust system from underneath but did see water drip out from the engine side of the resonator when the car was warming up. The sound is coming from about midpoint between the taiI pipe and the engine. I suspect the weld at the resonator junction is breaking. Is this common? 2008, Canada, 130000 km.

I have a metal sounding rattle coming from the back of the vehicle. It sounds like it is coming from the hatch area. I removed all loose things (jack) and the noise is still there.
I checked the license plate and put foam behind it, I wrapped the latch with a layer of tape. The noise seems a bit better but still there when on rough roads.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Alarm Sounding When Replacing The Battery
I left the lights on last night in our Santa Fe, and drained the battery.
Took the battery out and up to O'Reilly and they recharged it for me on their charger. When re-installing the battery the car alarm goes off as soon as I attach both battery cables. Turning the key in the ignition doesn't kill the alarm.
How do I reset the alarm and shut it up?
Accent MC (2006-11) :: 2007 - Rough Sounding For A Minute Or Two Then Died
My daughters 07 Accent quit a few days back. She managed to get it home but it was making a noise on the left side of the block before it died again. I started it the next morning and it was rough sounding for a minute or two before it died. There has been a check engine light on for quite some time that I was unaware of. A friend had a brand new fuel pump he sold me (very cheaply) so I installed that yesterday but the starter just cranks with no combustion at all. I will check for spark this AM and if there is none I will likely replace the crank sensor.
I've checked any and all fuses under the hood and all seem fine (although I've never seen the type with the two little "balls" but they seem to by fine also) My question concerns the timing belt. If I have spark and fuel pressure, how do I check for a bad timing belt ? I looked in through the oil cap filler for cam lobes but can't see past what looks like an oil "spout" part at the filler. Also, if the belt is gone would it bend the valves on this motor ? If the belt has stripped teeth and screws the timing I should still get some sort of very rough firing in a cylinder or two, shouldn't I ?
Tiguan :: 2012 - Engine Is Loud And Rough Sounding
Ok, I am new to the Tiguan but not new to VW engines. For the last 11 years I am driving a 1.8T and I test drove the newer GTIs and Audis with the 2.0T. But with my 2012 Tiguan S manual I find the engine to be a little loud and rough sounding. Especially under heavy load it more reminds me of a diesel than a 4 banger turbo. Now, is this this normal or is it just my engine?

I have ES 350 with 118000 miles. And for the last 6 months I've noticed my car become louder and louder. And now it's beginning to shake and vibrate a little. The Check engine light and check VSC light came on then it went off. I can also tell it doesn't have the same pick up when I hit the gas. So is it time to for new plugs and coils?

My issue is my camry has gotten considerably louder. I know its currently winter but even with good weather and its idle still gets noticeably loud. has like a low grumbling, grinding noise. The car has about 72k miles on it i do my oil change roughly every 5k miles. i put full synthetic 0w-20 into the engine. As of late have been working a lot about 2 weeks ago i checked the oil levels and it didn't register on the dip stick. went to my friends house the next day and did an oil change. added 0w-20. fwe also replaced the valve cover gasket this past sunday as well as the spark plugs. I'm not sure if the lack of oil might've caused this issue or if it has to do with my exhaust system. Sounds more like its coming from the exhaust manifold or somewhere in-between. When we were changing my oil my friend did indicate that my car did touch bottom. I'm not sure the best way to approach this. Should i just take it to the dealer and have them look into why it has become much louder?

I have been told it may be glow plugs or an idle actuator thingy, how do i check which one it is. How can you tell if a glow plug is working or not. I own a 2007 Honda Civic. For the last several months, the car starts making a strange mechanical whining sound when turned on. The sound grows louder when accelerating or going in higher rpms. It also seems to get a little quieter when I turn on the air conditioning. But the soubd never goes away. Car otherwise runs perfectly fine and never fails to start. Took it to two different honda dealerships to have it looked at. One said it had something to do with the a/c, the other said the alternator might be the alternator. I tested the alternator with a voltmeter and it seems to be working just fine. However, when you open the hood, the sound seems to be coming from the alternator area.

Took my car to a shop today after I'd been experiencing a "tinny clunking" sounding rattle. I was worried it might be my catalytic converter and after couple of bumps on the exhaust system while on the lift, the tech thought this was indeed the case. Replacing the catalytic converter could be a $1500+ job from what I hear if replaced by toyota.

I have a 2008 LS. The buzzer for my front parking assist sensors is significantly louder than when the buzzer sounds for the rear sensors. I have adjusted the buzzer volume to the loudest position (#5), but the volume of the buzzer when the rear sensors activate is still much lower than for the front sensors.
The indicators on the nav screen for all the sensors are working properly. Do you find the volume is different between the front and rear sensors or do I have a problem?
I am asking because I inadvertently backed out of a driveway into a car that was parked directly across the street. I do not recall hearing the sensor sound before I hit the other car. At the time, my sensor volume was set on #3. When I checked, I could barely hear the buzzer from the rear sensors, but could clearly hear the buzzer from the front sensors. Resetting the buzzer volume to #5 has worked a bit, but I still wish the buzzer for the rear was louder.
Passat (B6) :: Turned On Car Without Oil / Engine Seems A Little Louder Than Before
So today my brother was changing oil and he turned on the car after the pan and filter were drained and the car was on for good 15-20 seconds before it was turned off. It was driven a few miles after I put in the oil.The car is running but the engine seems a little louder than before. Just wanted to know how significant of damage has been caused and what to expect in the next few days, months, years!!?? If it ever gets to see them.

So last night I noticed that my radiator was really loud. It sounds like it's working really hard. Also, when I turn off the car the radiator still runs for a few seconds. Heck, it may not even be the radiator as I'm not 100% positive.
Here's a video of it. In the video you can see that the noise is louder than the engine. Around the 24 second mark I turn the engine off but the noise still persists for a few more seconds.
I didn't rev the engine as the sound doesn't get louder or quieter based on my RPMs. Brought it to the dealership today. Service writer tells me it's because I did the flapper mod.
Lexus GS 2006-11 :: Engine Ticking Gets Louder When It Warms Up
Engine ticking not there when its cold but when it warms up, it gets louder.
I took a 3 hour drive to Memphis, TN and when I got there, the ticking was gone. it sounded like it brand new with 0 miles. I opened up the hood to see maybe it just quieted down but no, it was gone. if you put your ear to the engine cover you can hear the direct injection but faintly.
