Have an '06 Prius, 154,000+ on it... A set of controls on the right hand side of the steering wheel have just quit functioning... controls the windshield defrost, the rear window & mirror defrosters and the inside/outside air circulation.
View 14 RepliesMy friend has a 06 Prius with about 85,000 miles.
Ever since he purchased the car (used) at about 67,000 miles, I've noticed that the steering wheel is slow to return to center and the steering lacks the "springy feel" of the low-mileage Priuses that I have driven. I noticed abnormal tire wear on the car so I suggested 4 new tires and an alignment-- which was done without any improvement. The front toe was set to 0, and the rear toe is minimal (0.05 and 0.1 on the LR and RR, respectively). However, I did not have a zero-point calibration performed at the time of the alignment.
There is no obvious damage or wear to the suspension, as far as I know. Recently though, the steering wheel has decided to clock itself to the right so I know it needs another alignment. It has only been 17k since the last one. Are there any parts that I should consider replacing before doing this alignment?
Looking for the wiring diagram for the circuits on the steering wheel? For some reason, when I hit my cruise control on button, the horn honks...
View 6 RepliesMy steering wheel lights r out and need to know which wire runs power to those. also the led in my headlight switch is very dim.I checked the wiring and all the wires check out with high 11's and high 12 volts.i checked the volts at the led in the switch and it read 2.18 v.i have another light switch from the salvage yard and the same thing. which wire powers that light. also, the light only comes on when the key is in the on position or back for accessory. if i just turn the lights on it wont lite, only with key in ignition in those positions. truck is a 2000 f350 xlt dually.....
View 14 RepliesI have a 2008 F250 5.4 4x4 supercab long box (68,000 miles) that has a little bit of movement in the front wheel bearing and hub assemblies. Made it through inspection OK but it will need to be changed soon. Just asking for everyone's thoughts on brands they prefer. I have had great luck with Moog brand products in the past. I put SKF hubs on my wife's 2010 Explorer and they I would say are top quality also. Not interested in a conversion kit or cheap junk. I want a good quality unit. What brand has everyone had good results with? Are Moog or SKF the way to go?
View 8 RepliesI am needing to replace the front hub wheel bearing assemblies on my 03 F250 4x4. I know Ford changed the studs from coarse thread to fine thread in between the 02 and 03 model years. Mine has a build date of 08/02 and I haven't been able to find the exact date they switched over. I'm ordering the parts online and want to get it right the first time.

View 1 RepliesLooking for the wiring diagram for the steering wheel controls for the head unit, mainly which wire is volume. I bought a new head unit for my 04 f150 truck and cant find the wiring diagram online to figure it out. I know there are 3 separate connections.
1 main one for power, gnd, ant, speakers, etc..
1 for the subwoofer if your truck came with it which mine did.
1 for the steering wheel controls if your truck came with it which mine did.
I want to know what the different color wires are connected to on the steering wheel control connection. i have had no luck searching online for about an hour. I know I could buy an adapter but really only want the volume to work and figured if I could just tap into that one wire and connect it to my new head unit.
Is it possible to replace my stock Prius 4 halogen headlight assemblies with the Prius package 5 stock LED headlight assemblies? Is the wiring the same or totally different? More trouble than it's worth perhaps?
View 19 RepliesMy husband is rebuilding our 07 Prius that has HID Headlights that were both broken and does not want to go back with HID due to cost. He wants to install complete Halogen Headlight assemblies from our parts car. He has rebuilt several Prius' for friends and family but has not done a change like this so he understands the basic differences but is stuck on the Wiring change to handle the low and high beam differences. Wiring is not his strong point!

View 5 RepliesI have a 2013 III with 8k on the clock and discovered a few hours after washing it there was moisture in both of the tail light assemblies. It evaporated several hours later, which made me wonder if the assemblies were vented instead of sealed. Do they are sealed or vented?
View 4 RepliesI recently had new rims and winter tires installed on my 2007 Hyundai Sonata 4Cyl from Walmart. When I left I noticed I had a vibration in the steering wheel at around 50-70 km/h so I took it back the next day and got them rebalanced. After the rebalancing I asked the tech. if it was off and he did say they were just a little bit off.
I took it out for a drive and the vibration is gone from 50-70km/h, now it is vibrating from 70-120km/h. I was about to take it back for another balancing, but as I was driving home today and had the car on cruise control and cruising at about 110-120km/h I noticed the vibration would go away sometimes to virtually nothing, then come back with very noticeable vibration.
So now I am beginning to think it has nothing to do with the balancing of the wheels but maybe something in my suspension. I am getting some clunking sounds when I hit bumps and you can feel it through the drivers floor, pedals and steering wheel. I had friends tell me that it may be a tie rod end or strut mounts.
I don't have remote start and I don't like the idea of my car being able to drive away without me in the driver seat.
So.... any mod I can do so my steering wheel won't be freezing cold?
I've looked into steering wheel cover but they are so ugly.
I tried to use my horn on my 2006 Camry LE this morning and nothing happened, so I tried a few more times then noticed smoke coming from the steering wheel.
View 1 RepliesI've got a 2006 Camry (4cyl) with 136K miles. Yesterday, I noticed a mild shimmy in the steering wheel around 35 mph. If I take my hands off the wheel it shimmies back and forth about 1/4 inch or so. I pulled over and checked my tires, but didn't find any obvious defects. The shimmy goes away at higher speeds, and drives fine at freeway speed.
I am somewhat certain that I need new struts pretty soon because there is some slight inside cupping on the front tires.
Is there any way to unlock the steering wheel if the car has no power? It is a 2007 GS350. I need to move the car but have no power to use the key.
View 3 RepliesI think the yellow colored thing is a clip but it isn't latching onto anything and I try to force it up but it just moves back. Here's a pic. It's right below the ignition start button and is below the steering wheel column.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2006 Camry 4 cylinder that I turned the rotors on all four wheels and replaced all the brake pads on all four wheels with ceramic pads. I did this a year or two ago.
Now this doesn't happen every time you brake but sometimes you will get a vibration in the steering wheel when braking.
When I had the rotors turned at O'Reillys they said they were too thin. So I had them bring out a new one and that one was too thin as well according to whatever specs they were using. So they turned my old ones.
And the car doesn't pull to either side when braking. There are not grooves in the rotors and it doesn't make any screeching when braking. I did notice that there is a ridge on the edge of the rotor when you run your finger across it from the inside to the outside of the rim of it. My guess the rotors are warped.
And if the rotors need to be replaced is this rotor better than the stock ones and thicker? [URL] ....
My 2008 GS 460 with 53k steering wheel makes a squeaky noise when I turn the car on and it moves to it's memory position, but only during the heat.
View 4 RepliesMy Elantra has been making a click noise every time I turn the steering wheel. The noise comes from somewhere in the area behind the wheel, not from the engine apartment.
If I turn the steering without turning on engine, the noise could still be heard. So I am quite sure its' not a power steering problem.
So far there is no effect on driving, I could turn normally and the power steering works well.
Doesn't seem to be a problem with the indicator light switch as they still work as normal.
