I was told the Led went out and I would have to buy a complete assembly Part 8155147100. Is this correct? Is there anyway to just replace the led?
I looked at after mark replacements, but after reading some of the reviews, I think I should buy a genuine Toyota replacement.

I have worked on brake pads once. I just haven't had the guts to try it on my Hybrid yet.
Passenger side rear brake light works when lights are off, but does not when lights are on. In looking at both lights while on, the passenger side seems to burn much dimmer than the driver side.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to replace the rear light bulb (top of two) on the passenger side. It doesn't illuminate when I press the brake. What kind of light bulb does it take?? There is a removable compartment but I am having a hard time removing the harness where the bulbs are located . I see two clips but I still can not pull it out to access the defective bulb.
View 1 RepliesI have a 99 F150 4x4 (5.4) 173k miles. I bought the truck from family about 6 months ago and from time to time if you stepped on the brake pedal to hard (not locking up, but pretty hard) it would feel like the passenger rear tire would lock up. He said that there was an issue with the automatic adjuster on that side. Here lately the ABS light on the dash has been coming on every couple of days, of course on the next restart it's off. Could these two issues be related?
View 3 RepliesSo I have the dim brake light problem on the passenger side only. I took the whole assembly out to check it out. I removed the circuit board at the bottom and checked all of the components on it with a multimeter. Everything checked out perfectly with the components on the circuit board.
It's just a bunch of resistors connected in series and a diode. All are ok. I put everything back together and the brake LED's are still dim. Of course nothing changed. All of the LED's are lighting up. They are all just dim. The circuit board is being fed with 12 volts.
Both brake lights on my KIA Sportage 2006 function normally when the car lights (headlights etc) are switched off.
When the car's lights are switched on, the right brake light completely stops working, whilst the left one behaves normally and becomes brighter.
I have changed the brake light in the rear deck 3 times in the last 2 months. Why they keep burning out?
View 7 RepliesMy passenger side brake light has developed a fault over the past couple of months. The brake light will work, for example, when I turn the car on both lights will come on, however if I then take my foot off the brake and re-apply it, it will not work. However later when I am driving I will notice (via reflections) that it is working again!
I am aware that the bulbs cannot be replace and that I would need to replace the whole unit (after market versions available for £75 ish). I have attempted to check the cabling and everything appears OK but I am not an expert. I just removed the rear paneling and made sure nothing was loosely connected.
Yesterday i noticed that the right rear brake light and high mounted brake light does not work when i press brake only the left one work, although the right tail light work well when parking light is turned on. Is it a matter of fuse or wiring cut.
View 6 RepliesWell, I took the rear brakes apart without paying close enough attention. My problem began when I noticed the rear brake self adjusters' forks were not symmetrical. Although both have a deep slot and a shallower 'shoulder' between the 2 tines of the fork, they are different depths and the 'tines' are different lengths, so there are four ways to reassemble them: both deep slots positioned toward the dust shield, both deep slots positioned away from the dust shield, deep slot on the starwheel end positioned toward the dust shield with the deep slot on the other end positioned away from the dust shield, or deep slot on the starwheel end positioned away from the dust shield with the deep slot on the other end positioned toward the dust shield. I've seen photos with the adjusters in place, but the slot positions are not clear. I've seen photos of the adjusters off, but no indications of how they fit on the shoes. Can't find a diagram or instructions anywhere.
View 1 RepliesWe recently purchased a used 2006 Prius. The vehicle has approximately 74K on it now. Well the other day my wife went to leave work and pressed the power button while pressing the brake pedal, and the Master Warning Light and brake warning light both came on. The car would not allow her to shift the car so she tried to turn it off and it wouldn't do that either. After about 5 minutes she finally got the car to turn off, and when she restarted the sequence everything went back to normal and she drove home fine.
We called 2 dealers and they both seem to be confused by the symptoms, but one thought that maybe the battery was old on the transmitter. So thinking that might make sense I replaced the battery with a new one.
We have had a 2006 Prius for almost 2 years now. In the past few months the passenger airbag seemed to become intermittent where the light would say "Off" even with a passenger. More recently it stays that way all the time. Also, the seatbelt warning light does not come on with a passenger when this light says "Off." In my early searches, I found some references to problems with the wiring harness, so I fiddled under the seat.
On two separate occasions I have unplugged and plugged in one of the connections and the airbag works. The first time, it only worked once. The second time, it worked for about a day. The first time, the car was off when I unplugged it. The second time, I foolishly did it while we were going down the interstate. When I plugged it back in, the red malfunction light came on. We turned the car off next time traffic stopped and it worked as it should when we turned it back on. I don't know if it might be the pin connectors, loose wires, or something else completely.
I am going to install a center brake light flasher in the rear hatch. I see the panel that appears to cover the area I need on the inside of the hatch between the 2 windows. What is the best way to remove it? Am I on the right track?
View 3 RepliesI own a 04 Grand Cherokee and have recently had problems with my passenger side brake light. Now the light itself does work under normal running light conditions, but when I go to press the brake pedal it doesn't engage the bright brake light. Drivers side works fine and so do all my other lights, I replaced the bulb to no avail, and am now currently looking into replacing the bulb socket.
View 1 RepliesToday I took my 2006 Toyota Prius with 167,000 miles out to drive my dog to the vet. I turned the car on and deactivated the parking break and noticed the light stayed on, then I noticed the VSC and ABS lights stayed on as well.
My car was parked backwards on a driveway incline for about 14 hours. My 12v battery is old, not sure what shape it is in. The hybrid battery was replaced 2 years ago. I have been reading up and i guess it could be a sensor, skid sensor, 12v battery, or some sort of pump. Also, my parking break has felt a little weak as of late.
The car still drives, not sure if it drives funny or psychologically I think it does.
2004 Prius. When the brakes are applied, the passenger side brake light (LEDs) is dim compared to the driver side. Are the LEDs just dying a slow death? I always thought LEDs either work or don't.
View 3 RepliesI just purchased this vehicle from a private owner, and the first day everything seemed fine. After a few days I get all these warning lights - Master Warning (Red Triangle !), VSC, and the Brake Light, plus the NAV screen shows the red car with ! in it. The car seems to run just fine though. I don't notice any performance issues. One thing I did notice when I purchased the vehicle, the previous owner had a batter charger in the trunk before he took it out.
Now I've check the batter using the LAN Monitor and it shows like 12.1 volts when I turned the car on (not started). I decided to give the batter a deep charge overnight (2 amp charge) after disconnecting NEG terminal from car. It cleared the codes for a little while, but then they came back. My ODB II tester shows no codes, only codes I found on the LAN Monitor was for NAVI - 01-e3 sub 00-5. Do I need to replace the 12v Battery?
I have a hairline crack (with some starring) on my left rear tail light of my 2006 Prius touring. Any good glue or compound to patch it up and prevent water/moisture/dirt from getting in there and still stay clear for light to shine through?
View 2 RepliesI recently attempted to replace the rear brake shoes on my 01 Accord. Everything seemed to go reasonably well, but now when the brakes heat up I get a loud knocking and vibration while driving that goes away while braking. I popped the drum off last night and backed off the adjustment as the drum was hanging on one spot during rotation. This seemed to make it worse (though some minimal did stop suddenly in front of me, so I had to emergency brake and heat everything up). It has the original drums.
As a second, related question, there was no problem on my little test drive last night so I drove to work this morning. About 3/4 of the way there was when this started, and kept getting progressively worse. Understanding that you don't know exactly what the problem is, do you think it's reasonably ok to drive home (about 10 miles and I can stay off the highway)?
Knocking and vibration from rear passenger drum brake after replacing brake shoes, only while driving.
Car: 2001 Accord LX 4 cylinder
Took the drum off, backed down the tension on the adjustment screws. Drives and feels fine until the brakes heat up.
2010 F-250 14,000 miles, gas engine with Knapheide utility bed. Tilt wheel has been kept in the up position from day 1.
The problem:
No rear brake lights.
No high mount brake light.
No rear turn signals.
No rear hazard flashing lights.
All trailer lights work.
All other truck lights work.
Things checked: Fuses all OK. Visual inspection of multi-function switch. Looks clean. Brake switch at brake pedal has power on one wire. Jumpered the other wire-no brake lights.
I need to haul my trailer and am nervous when I see a Savannah, GA metro police car.
