I have a 2002 Prius with 143,000 miles on it. All bars on the fuel gauge blink on and off constantly, the seat belt reminder, open door warning, and headlight indicator do not work. I checked all fuses & load tested the battery.
View 3 RepliesThis is 2008 Prius. I'm curious on how much gas is left with 1 blinking square left on fuel guage. I've driven 50 more miles since it started blinking. The car runs at ~ 47MPG on commutes everyday. The last time I had it blinking on highway, I filled up the gas in the next exit. My estimate was there were still 2.5 Gallons left when it started blinking. I have a gas tank with a few gallons of gas so I'm not concerned that I may be stranded on road.
View 19 RepliesI changed bad combination meter today and I noticed that everything works fine but the fuel gauge is blinking with all the bars! After a few miles the fuel gauge is still blinking but now with less than a half of deposit, I filled the entire deposit yesterday. Maybe is a consequence of changing the combination meter? Should I reset the fuel gauge or reconnect the 12v battery?
View 2 RepliesI've got an 01 that I recently bought with bad batteries. I replaced the 12V and the hv batteries, and all the codes cleared out. The gas gauge was flashing 1 bar and I got the message to add fuel. I first put 1 gallon in thinking at least the gauge should stop blinking. When it didn't, I added 2 more gallons. Still no change. After pulling the rear seat to look for the sending unit, we dropped the tank only to find that it's not replaceable!
View 4 Replies2007 - I went out to start it and every light imaginable turned on. Fuel gauge and all gear indicators were lit and blinking. Headlights work. Is this a battery problem or something more major? It is the middle of winter where I live. It won't start up at all.
View 19 RepliesSo right now I'm not able to start my Toyota's engine. I checked multiple screens and found several weird symptoms that I never saw before.
1. When attempting to turn the engine on, the square light that appear over the selected D, N, P positions etc does not appear at all and the 'Ready' light never appears. When putting the car into the Parked mode the square does not appear over the 'P' on the dashboard or any of the other modes and Ready light does not display.
2 . On the dashboard the fuel gauge is blinking continuously. Its showing full bars while blinking even though I have about 3 cars worth of gas in the car.
3. On the computer screen when I go to the Energy menu (The screen that shows the Battery life and the Motor and Engine working together) The battery life is showing as completely empty. But the battery should be working considering the computer screen even turns on. Radio also works.
4. The OBD II scanner does not get a reading. The scanner powers on when plugged into the car, but a "Linking Error" occurs when attempting to read any error codes.
5. On the same computer screen where the Energy menu is displayed, the Temperature gauge is showing an "E" instead of an actual temperature.
6. On the outside of the car I hear a very faint sound that I don't recognize. It could be nothing but its not a sound I ever heard before.
Also NO WARNING LIGHTS are appearing on the dashboard. Which makes sense considering the car engine is not turned on to show anything. I don't know where this issue is coming from?
I have a 2002 Prius with about 150,000 miles on it. A couple weeks ago, I noticed that the parking brake light on my instrument cluster didn't light up when I engaged it. Soon, all 10 bars on the fuel gauge started blinking. The seat belt reminder, open door warning, and headlight indicator lights aren't working, either. Any clues as to what could be causing all these malfunctions, or have I had more than one problem develop in close succession?

I noticed when I filled up the last few times that the last block on the fuel gauge started blinking and my miles to empty reading was pretty low. However, when I filled up the tank, it only took around 9,2 gallons. Doesn't this car have a 10.6 gallon tank?
View 19 RepliesI have 2011 Prius Pck II. Racked up about 22k miles now is socal. Replaced one tire due to flat. From week 3, Ive had blinking tire pressure warning.. then it stays lit then goes away.
Dealer said they will reset and say the sensors are just sensitive. Well.. 22k miles of annoying problems continues to blink then stays lit, then goes away.
I think it is defected.. they don't want to admit it and replace for me.
Got into my car this morning turned on the car and the hazard lights started to blink . Thought I might have pressed the hazard lights button , so of course I press the button into the lower position and the lights are still on .. Then I press the button again into the raised position and put the car into drive and now the hazard lights start to blink faster as I accelerate ( now my Prius Became a police cruiser ) it's obvious I have a short some where , or the relay went bad . If it's the relay, where can I find the relay in the car? Looked in both fuse boxes and I couldn't find it . I've since pulled the fuse on the hazard/ signal lights. I'd rather try to fix this my self before I have to pay Toyota to rob me blind .
View 2 RepliesI have a problem with my fuel gauge, after a fuel tank cleaning it stops working. I check both senders and seems to be OK, but the digital gauge is blinking and the analog gauge is down to zero. I measure the resistance value directly on the senders plugs and shows 100 ohms at the end. I check the wires between the senders and both are OK. I need to know if the car computer must be resettled after a gauge failure, or there is only a sender malfunction. I want to fix this by myself. I need a service manual or a wiring diagram to do this?
View 5 RepliesOn a Gen III. Just wondering, I know at about 25 miles to empty on the display I get a single blinking pip on the fuel gauge. Usually I'll gas up about 30 miles after the display reads 0 miles to empty, and put in about 9.75 to 10 gallons. I know I still have maybe 1.75-2.00 gallons in reserve.
Does the single pip keep blinking until you run out of fuel?

It looks like an anti theft device which it isn't' and really bothers me especially at night because it lights up the whole dash. How to disable this and still keep the remote functional?

View 19 RepliesIt started out w/ my wife swapping from the front fuel tank to the rear tank due to the fuel qty getting real low. Then the next day when I drove it I had bad fuel qty and amp meter indication, I found a blown fuse on my fuel qty/amp meter gauges. I replaced the fuse and got my indications back. Now I hear my front tank fuel pump is running constantly when selected to its position. Its now full of gas and still runs constantly. The rear tank/pump operates normal. I am wondering if I ran that pump empty and lost its prime? What is the best way to burp it?
