Having problem with the brake light coming on after I drive a few miles. The brake light comes on and the ICE does a high rev and sometimes lunges on its own. So I pull over and do a shut down, then everything is peachy till 3-4 miles/mins down the road.

When I turn on the car the ABS and Brake light turn on and there is a high pitch sound that beeps continuously. Sometimes after a while the warning lights and beeping stop only to return a little while later. I can drive the car when the warning lights are on but i have to press harder on the brakes than normal to get the car to stop and the braking system feels looser. However, when the warning lights turn off I can brake as i normally do and the system feels normal. This problem goes on intermittently as I'm driving.
I took the car to the dealership today and paid $143 for a diagnostics and was told that DTC C1251 was retrieved from the diagnostic computer. The technician told me that the ABS Motor is bad and because of that the car thinks I'm skidding so the ABS shuts off. He recommended that I get the ABS Motor ASSY ( Part #47071-47010) replaced.
Also, I read a post to resolve it by flushing the brake fluid. I checked the brake fluid level in the cylinder and it is at the max level and there aren't any leaks. Would that be an option?
I'm completely new to hybrids. I have a 2001 Toyota Prius with 146k miles and its been running very good until some weird things started happening during the past couple of months. When I start it up, the brake light and abs light come on along with a steady high-pitched noise and grinding noise (sounds like ice being scraped). While the lights are on and the sounds are being made, the brake becomes very soft/"spongy" and goes down to the ground without much force at all (It usually always does this when I start it up and sometimes - but not very often - when I'm driving). Sometimes it all goes off and everything is normal again after about 10 mins, sometimes all day, and sometimes only after a minute or two (It usually does it on a cold start, but sometimes even if the engine is heated up, it does it).

The problem:
No rear brake lights.
No high mount brake light.
No rear turn signals.
No rear hazard flashing lights.
All trailer lights work.
All other truck lights work.
Things checked: Fuses all OK. Visual inspection of multi-function switch. Looks clean. Brake switch at brake pedal has power on one wire. Jumpered the other wire-no brake lights.
I need to haul my trailer and am nervous when I see a Savannah, GA metro police car.
Can this be changed easily by a non-dealer? The local Autozone doesn't list any replacement bulbs or assemblies, and I can't see a simple way of accessing the light assembly from the trunk.

View 7 RepliesSomeone mentioned to me this week that my high mount brake light was not working. No big deal, just a burned out bulb I assumed. Well, I replaced the bulbs (two bulbs) and it still does not work. The sockets look fine, no corrosion. The wiring that I can see looks good. I used a volt meter & found I'm getting no juice at the socket . . ? Is there an in line fuse or something else simple I should check. I'm thinking this should be an easy fix & am frustrated I can't figure it out. By the way, my lower brake lights are working fine.
View 3 RepliesAfter losing 4 bulbs trying to put the new light in from the bottom on my 07 Sonata's high brake light, I finally figured out, that if you take a dremel or other small cutting tool and cut of the tab on the bulb socket, the whole assembly will slide back into place from the top. Cut the tab even with the holes where the two wires go into the socket, and you should have no problems.
View 23 RepliesTrying to replace the burnt bulbs. Did the obvious: removed the two screws but in no way could I take the red lens off. I pried hard almost broke it but it's not coming off. It feels like some other mechanism holding it down. It is the one on top of the lift gate. The inside is just a hole with wires going through. What's the trick?

View 6 RepliesI have a 2003 Toyota Prius, that you have to push sooo hard to make it stop, the ABS and brake light are on and there is some aweful chime that is solid and doesn't go away (very high pitch), I just got the car, and got it like this. I think its signs of a BRAKE BOOSTER, but I have been unable to loacted that, I found the Master Cylinder, but looks like you have to remove the Hybrid engine to do... Is there a procedure for this...

My understanding is there may be a broken solder joint. My problem is I can't seem to get the assembly out. How the high mount assembly is mounted and how to remove it?

I've noticed a small crack. The crack seems internal and not completely through so I don't think that is the reason. There also seems to be a vent around the water washer nozzle which should allow the light to dry out. It just seems to be taking days! Do that gap around the washer nozzle is intact a vent or are theses lights sealed. My one is the LED version.
Recently I noticed that three LEDs in my 05 SantaFe's high mount stop light glow even without the brake applied. When the brake pedal is depressed, the entire light glows as it should. But only the three LEDs glow at all times.
View 13 RepliesFirst I noticed that the parking brake light and battery light came on, which would indicate an alternator problem. I took it in, they cleaned up the engine, replaced a few hoses and said the alternator was fine. Two days later I'm driving home, I make it to my driveway and the battery dies. I was able to charge it up and dive it back to the station where they told me the alternator had burned out...
A few days later I notice my brake lights weren't working, but that was just a blown fuse.
Starting today, there is a high pitched whine when I'm driving. I can barely hear it when I'm idle, but going up to 20 or 30 it gets very loud, then kind of dies off. It definitely gets louder when I'm accelerating, vs going a steady speed. As I was driving earlier, the air bag light came on for a brief second, and I didn't think anything of it, until later tonight when I was driving home and it came on again, but this time it stayed on.

My high mount break light works sporadically. When I break, sometimes you can see it as bright as it can be, other times it is dim, and then sometimes no light comes on. The dealership could not even figure out how to get to the led unit.

View 5 RepliesWe recently purchased a used 2006 Prius. The vehicle has approximately 74K on it now. Well the other day my wife went to leave work and pressed the power button while pressing the brake pedal, and the Master Warning Light and brake warning light both came on. The car would not allow her to shift the car so she tried to turn it off and it wouldn't do that either. After about 5 minutes she finally got the car to turn off, and when she restarted the sequence everything went back to normal and she drove home fine.
We called 2 dealers and they both seem to be confused by the symptoms, but one thought that maybe the battery was old on the transmitter. So thinking that might make sense I replaced the battery with a new one.
my 70K mile 2005 passenger side brake light is sporadically dim (5 or 6 of the LEDs light up dim) and occasionally (but rarely) is fully bright. The driver side brake light and all of the other lights work fine.
Does this sound like I need to replace the whole assembly or have the electrical connections and voltage checked?
Also, I assume that the tail light assembly removal instructions that are posted for the 2007 are the same as for the 2005.
