I have a 2012 Pruis C II which has a smart key and I just noticed that the Theft Deterrent indicator, page 110 in the owner's manual, has started to blink whenever the power is off. I have not noticed this in the past 5 months. Could it be that I never noticed it before or it has just started to work or?
View 1 RepliesMy 2005 prius with 81k on it just had the Hybrid vehicle immobilizer / Theft deterrent system indicator light spontaneously come on during a road trip where she was heavily loaded for the very first time since I have owned her for over 10 years. I stopped at a rest area and when I got back in it was on...immediately my batteries started draining. They are in 50wh mode which has never happened before, and charge will driving, but if I shut down for even a few minutes they are drained again. The dealer told me this was nothing to worry about and that as soon as they fully charged this would stop.
View 2 RepliesWe have a 2004 Toyota Prius, with the smart entry and start system. A few days ago the (factory) theft deterrent alarm started going off at random, when there are no obvious causes. Last night it went off 3 times in the middle of the night. I won't have time to get it to a dealer in the next few days.
Is there a way to defeat the theft deterrent system and still have the car be drivable and lockable? Somebody suggested I could lubricate the door lock switches which may not be making good contact. Or, the fob battery may be low. (Can't check either till my wife gets home with the car.)
on my prius c the fuel indicator started blinking on the last bar on the screen so i went to gas station to fill up. still the bar blinking but, driving after 1km makes the blink off and the bar goes up. And some times the fuel bar just goes down and goes up. What is the reason, why it happens?

View 3 RepliesI have a 2000 EX V10 100K miles. Saturday my anti theft light started blinking rapidly and the truck would turn over but no fuel. No check engine light. Fires up if I use starter fluid. I have read online alot about PATS systems and keys so I tried my extra key.... Did not work. I am planning to try syncing the key with the truck again today. Whats next? I checked all fuses twice. I saw somewhere about the ECM? Might have an issue?
View 14 RepliesI recently changed the heater core on my 99 F-150 which meant i had to remove the dash. I got everything back together turned the key to start it and nothing it wouldn't start it wont even turn over. All the electronics come on like normal it just wont start. I have chased every wire every connection into madness. It has an aftermarket remote start someone said that would have bypassed the PATS but i dont know about that the theft light just started blinking.

Had it check out and two codes DTC U1016 serial communications malfunction and DTC P1629 theft deterrent fuel enable signal not received. Will the bypass or cut wire work . What wire do cut i have three wires one black one white one black@white.

Well today I was driving and the Malfunction Indicator Light on the dash came on and started blinking. When I stepped on the accelerator, the car felt like it had 1/4 the power and began shaking. The car idles kind of weakly, and feels like it has no power when you step on the gas. Also, when you step on the gas the car will shake. The strength of the shaking depends on how hard I press on the throttle, more throttle = more shaking. There is no shaking when it idles or when I have it cruising, only when accelerating.
Just bought my first F150. 1998 XLT 4.6l automatic. 126K miles, looks like it was mostly garage kept. All power, A/C, etc.
Picked it up this evening, drove it home after dark. About a 30 mile mostly highway speed drive. Everything went fine, no problems, no hiccups......Until I turned on my last street, about a half mile from home. The battery indicator light on the dash started blinking intermittently. I didn't notice anything else, just the red battery shaped light blinking.
What would cause this, what should I check? I don't want a big problem when I haven't even transferred the title yet!

View 4 RepliesAfter installing two new batteries, a new alternator and removing the auto start system still having the same problem. It sometimes wont start. It will turn over but wont fire. If the theft light keeps blinking it wont start. Other times no blinking light and it fires right up. What to check next.

View 12 RepliesLeft the truck sitting for a couple of months while working out of town. I bought this truck used with only 1 key. We rebuilt the engine and had noise issues so we don't want to drive it much until this is resolved. I went out to start the truck to move it and it would not start. It had cranked right up the week before. Now it just spins over and the theft light blinks rapidly. I've check all the door locks.
When I called a Ford dealership all the service guy would tell me is that it's going to have a new key made and I have to have the title on the truck to get it done. AND, I have to have the truck towed to a dealership to fix the problem of it not starting... The battery drained down so I took it out and charged it... only thing I can possibly think of is a low battery or maybe somebody tried to steal it while I was out of town and messed up something.
i have a 99 f150 with a 4.6 that will not start. it has sat for a while now. when i go to turn the key to turn it on it cranks and cranks and cranks but wont start. the theft light blinks like crazy and the odometer reads dashes. There is also a relay which i do believe is the pcm relay that clicks like crazy. when the relay clicks and the key is first turned to the on position the fuel pump will turn on and off as the relay clicks.
We tried putting a scan tool to it to try to pull a code and the scan tool wont connect. I do believe its the pats system kicking, but i also think its related to this relay clicking like a mother, maybe a bad connection in the junction or something. But I am not really sure how to try to start and find the problem. i have also tried replacing the relay that clicks and the new relay does the same thing.
ive got a 2000 v-10 excursion with 111k. Never had a problem like this before but last week I was driving home an noticed the theft light blinking while I was driving. Got home shut it off. next morning went to start it and nothing! when the doors open it makes a clicking noise under the dash. if I jump it the truck will start right up. If the batt is disconnected them re-connected it will start once until turned off and then nothing until its disconnected again. I ve got an elk hunt in 2 weeks and need to figure it out!
View 6 RepliesMy Ford 250 Super Duty, it is a 2008 model. I can't get it to start and the anti-theft light keeps blinking. At least i think it is an anti-theft light, a blinking red lock on the instrument panel. I bought this truck from an auction so I don't have a manual, neither do I have a key set with the push button stuff on it. Just 2 electronic keys. Someone suggested unhooking the battery overnight, and someone else suggested pressing the valet button. I found a button under the dash, I have no idea if it is the right one.
View 4 Replies2006 Prius, 134K miles. All tire pressures perfect but pressure indicator light started flashing about a minute then stays on. Happens each time car starts. There have been no weather temperature fluctuations. Attempted indicator reset by pushing “ON” once without pedal push and then pushing and holding pressure reset button under dash for a minute. Nothing happens. Indicator does not come on or flash when pushing the reset button while in “On” mode. Tires have not been changed or rotated since last year.
View 10 RepliesI disconnected the battery cable and when I reconnected it the red 'theft' light began rapidly blinking on the dash and ignition/starting was disabled. followed owners manual advice using the key to unlocking drivers door (to re-set anti-theft device) but this did not work. Called two Ford dealers and both say have to tow car in for this to be fixed. Problem is, car is on an island with no towing service available. I'm thinking there must be a way around this. I have two original keys with the key fobs and neither works to fix it by unlocking the door.
