Prius C :: TPMS Warning Icon At Start Up?

I don't see the tire icon warning at startup. I have a 2014 Prius C-3. Does this model have TPMS?

View 6 RepliesRecently there has been a series of problems popping up with the Prius. Its a 2003 model year.
- About four nights ago the warning icon and check engine light (picture below) popped up upon engine start-up and i noticed a weird idle. It seemed to idle rough. After about 20 seconds of idling the engine would shut off. After about 10 minutes and 6 or 7 attempts to restart the engine the warning lights disappeared and idle seemed to be restored.
- The afternoon after that the same warning icon and check engine light popped up along with the rough idle. After about 10 minutes and 6 or 7 attempts to restart the engine the warning lights disappeared and idle seemed to be restored.
- After this incident it seems like the vehicle is getting bad gas mileage. The picture below shows me getting an average of 25mpg. I was driving very conservatively. Driving the same way i usually do, i usually get 45-50mpg. The vehicle seems to be charging the battery more than usual.
My wife has a '03 that has been great. No issues. I am a excellent mechanic, on conventional cars and motors. Here's my story:
Bought the car used and working last week. Put in a new 12v Group 26 battery w/conversion. I verified the 12v battery was at 12.8v and when engine was running, 13.6v to charge the battery. Car was starting and driving wonderful for about 600 miles. No shuttering, no shaky starts. Mileage was about 38.6. Anyway, yesterday was driving and all of a sudden the warning Triangle comes on, Hybrid system icon comes up and the engine goes off. I was able to drive the car about 1/2 mile on the traction battery back to my work.
It happened to have a code reader handy and it reads a P3125, Inverter. I realize there are sub codes that further diagnose the issue, but I don't have that type of OBDII reader although mine is a very expensive model. Anyway, I reset the code and got the car to start. Motor begins to go up in RPM and throws the code again. I shut it off, reset the code, try to start the car and I feel it slightly jump forward, engine does not start, then throws the warning code again. I did notice the traction battery is at 25%. I do this two more times trying to get the engine to start before I call the tow company. BTW, the car rolled easy, so I don't think its the MG2 is bad, although correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't Mg1 start the engine?
Oh, incidentally, also the ignition key does not release either. The key release solenoid is energized unless I unplug the 12v battery, then I can get my key out.
I just got my car back from the dealer last night (the 4th time it's been in for service in under three months of ownership, pathetic). When I turned the car on this morning I got a blinking icon on the odometer. The icon is the same as the low tire pressure icon except the MFD doesn't show air pressure is low and the icon is flashing for the first minute or so. I checked out the tires anyway. When I tried to unscrew the valve cover the metal piece came right off leaving the inner rubber portion stuck over the valve stem. This was the same scenario for 3 of my 4 wheels. I'm assuming one of the fools from the service department put a death grip on the caps after refilling the tires (part of the "full circle service, tires/tpms had nothing to do with why my car was in). My question is, why this light is on? The pressure isn't low and there is nothing wrong with the way it drives. I'm stumped and don't want to have to bring my car back in. [IMG][URL]....
View 24 RepliesAfter setting TPs to 41F/40R and resetting the TPMS via the under-dash button, and driving the v5 around, I still get the intermittent then constant TPMS warning indicator. It's not the TPs. Perhaps it's the TPMS sensors?
View 2 RepliesOkay, this is a weird situation that I can't figure out. I haven't gone to the dealer yet, but I will have to before I hit 30,000 miles. (I'm at about 22,000 now) I thought I would pose this to the forum, for the interest, if nothing else.
A couple months ago, I replaced every lightbulb in the car (except for low and high beams) with LEDs from superbrightleds.com. They have worked wonderfully. I didn't install the new flasher module, however, because it's too hard to get to and I have no problem with the lights blinking fast.

View 12 RepliesI have a bad sensor in a tire that just had a flat. I have ordered the sensor for the wheel and I am wondering after I install the sensor in the tire will the 'reader' pick it up and reset itself or do I need to go through the programming of the new sensor? At this time the TPMS warning light comes on and flashes for a minute or so before staying on constantly. This tells me it's trying to read the tire sensors but there is a fault, which is the tire sensor where I just had the flat. Costco tells me that sensor reads 78psi, which is incorrect. The fact that the reader is trying to read all the sensors and getting an error makes me think that it might reset itself when the new sensor transmitter is put in the tire? Any chance of this resetting itself or will I need to reprogram the receiver unit?
View 12 RepliesI recently had new tires installed on my 2008 Prius and after the tires were installed she drove better than ever and I drove about 150 miles across Florida with no issues what so ever. But when I went for a drive this evening, after about 30 minutes of driving my TPMS light blinked for about a minute then stayed solid for about 3 minutes but then went out. When I got out of the car all the tires looked okay, I didn't have a gauge on me and I will check the pressures tomorrow.
View 5 RepliesSo naturally I thought a nail had punctured a tire leading to a slow leak. When I got home I found no nail and the tire pressure on all four tires even but down to about 36psi.
I refilled to my normal of 40/38 and reset the TPMS with the button below the steering wheel. The light stayed on for a minute or two of driving then turned off and stayed off for my commute to work.
What I think probably happened is that I reduced from 42/40 to 40/38 recently without a TPMS reset. Then this morning the temperature outside was 55F and about 65F in my garage. When I left the garage at 5:20AM the TPMS light was off. I drive about 2 mile to the gym each morning and park my C for about an hour. This morning, when I got back in the car the tires had cooled to 55F and I guess that was enough to reduce the pressure far enough to trip my warning light.
I'm cruising around and noticed the engine icon warning light go on and stay illuminated. The manual says it is an "exhaust system problem" like an oxygen sensor, and to reduce speed and have the engine checked at a VW service department. I would like to drive back to Evanston (Autobarn) tomorrow but it is about 90 miles from here. I restarted the car in the hopes of it just being a glitch but the light remains lit. Can I do any damage by driving 90 miles. The car seems to still run fine but I am concerned about a breakdown because I have to travel through a few rough areas.
View 16 Replies2011 Subaru Outback; in January of 2015 the airbag warning icon shows on the dashboard and a loud alarm sound is played. If I turn the car off and on and I make it go away. Not easy when driving 75 mph on mountain highways. Dealer where I purchased the car has been useless; three visits there and a dozen unreturned phone calls.
View 3 RepliesThe other night I was driving home and my tps light came on, Wasn't sure if it fluctuated because of the weather. So I waited until the morning, checked the light and it was still on. I checked the pressure of the tires (stock) and they were all around 36, I checked the door panel and it said they should be 41. I filled them up to 41, however the light did not go off. I held the reset button and it went off and hasn't come on. It didn't blink when it came on. It popped on and was solid.
View 5 RepliesSo i got my new wheels in July, disabled all the TPMS stuff via vagcom and have had no issues or lights.
Well Saturday I start my car and i have a tire pressure low warning lit up in the MFD (no TMPS light lit up just the words in the MFD)
Due to laziness i didn't check anything till today, had the warning every time i started the car
We have just started having cold nights, so I figured i check the PS anyway today and im at 22 PSI all around. Odd that i was notified with no TPMS.
I added air to 32 PSI all around and the warning stayed on until i left the car for about 30 min then the warning was gone.
So I was running stock Lexus 17' rims on my 2008 c350 RWD. The time came to replace the tires and I thought- instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars, why not use my brother's set for free (his stock 17' rims from his 2006 GS300 RWD were just lying in the garage taking up space). They were also 17's. So, I swapped all 4 out, stock rims included. Drove around for a bit and noticed the TPMS warning light came on.
Not the low pressure light, but the actual warning light. This happens every day. The car is fine driving the first 15-20 miles but after that, the light always eventually goes on..then it's magically reset when I start the car the next day.
TPMs warning light on. I was wondering is the reason the TPMs warning light is on because I don't currently have a spare tire in the trunk i have the tire i mean but no wheel. and the sensor is just sitting in my glove box until the new wheel comes in.
View 4 RepliesThe manual doesn't have much in regards to the TPMS in our cars. I'm wondering what happens when the warning light goes on, meaning let's say I just need to add some air to a tire. Do I just add more air, and the warning light goes away? I'm coming from a Bimmer where I had to reset the warning and re calibrate the tires after filling it with adequate air. The way the manual make it sound, I have to go to the dealer? Is this right? Also, I'm looking at some aftermarket wheels that I know are compatible with out tpms sensors. Once the new wheels and tires are mounted with the OEM sensors, do I need to reset anything on the TPMS in the car?
View 1 RepliesWife picked up this basic model for my daily driving to work. It does not have MFD or compass but a simple display menu. Recently I encounter some trouble on tire pressure and TPMS triggered. I was told to reset it by myself. Unfortunately, mine is basic S model and there is no MFD or reset button in glove box. Manual said using MFD. Any way to reset without going to dealership on Tiguan S model?
View 4 RepliesSwitched my wheels at Discount Tires/America's Tires and for some reason my TPMS warning light won't go away. It's been more than 24hrs and I've driven over 100 miles, even put the tires to 42psi but still the warning light won't go away. The shop did rebuilt the TPMS due to the wheel change but it's nothing out of the ordinary so I am not sure what's going on here.
View 2 RepliesJust got my new wheels and tires from Tire Rack installed on my little Tojo, the TPMS light is now on all the time. I'm thinking black tape. Any way to disable it?
View 9 RepliesRecently replaced the front tire pressure monitor sensors from my '04 T V8. Since then the readings are fine with the only exception that I do get the "FLAT TYRE" warning a few minutes after I start my trip and for about 2-3 minutes until it goes off again. Shall I take it back to the dealer for reprogramming, is it something else I should look for...
