Prius C :: Navigation Map Display Is Very Faint
Mar 28, 2012
My navigation map display is very faint and cannot be seen in daylight. I've fooled with brightness & contrast controls for the display, but none effect the map.

View 3 RepliesIn my C3's navigation system there's the option to set the map display to day or night mode. I have it set to automatic but it doesn't seem to ever switch to night mode on its own. How is night mode triggered?
View 5 RepliesThe Navigation touch screen does not work. I can still us controls on the steering wheel, bu the touch screen is dead. I am assuming that I just buy and install a new screen? Or could there be something else to trouble shoot?
View 6 RepliesI am having an issue where my Navigation display on my 07 Prius wont respond properly to touch. Like i would press in the left corner and it registers in the right. So i have given up on fixing it and just going to buy a new unit. My question is how can i tell which unit i need so that it fits and i still have all my options that my car has. I have an 07 model with navigation, back up camera, Bluetooth, leather seats, JBL audio not sure which exact model it is tho.
View 2 RepliesI started my Prius and the Navigation Display open on it's own without me touching any buttons as though it wanted me to load a CD. Now it is stuck in the open position and the CD player is making noises like a CD is stuck but do not have a CD in the player.
I have hit every button to try to get it to close, no luck. It is stuck on the FM station I was listening to and will change stations or to AM, CD, SAT. I turned the car on and off several times just stuck open.
I thought I saw, somewhere, the ability for the navigation screen to display the angle of tilt (both horizontal & vertical) of the car in real-time. I'm only able to get the display of altitude and front wheel angle.
View 3 RepliesJust got a Sonata. loving it ... One thing I was missing on the nav is the speed limit of the rood you are driving on. Is there any way to enable it? Also have there been regular/any firmware/maps update to nav and where to get them from and how to install.
View 17 RepliesDoes the navigation display elevation? I have looked through the nav manual, but have been unable to find anything.
View 0 RepliesIs it possible to turn off the display screen for the Nav system? I mean turn it completely off, so the screen is dark.
View 3 RepliesI got my car today and am a little annoyed. When the car is started the navigation turns on and displays my Dealerships Name and Picture. Is there any way to get this removed and do I have to go back to have them take this off?
View 12 RepliesAs I was driving to work this morning, I noted that the map does not display on my center unit... no error messages, just a gray screen. Interestingly, the navigation functions seem to work just fine, just no map display.
I just had the KESSY unit replaced in my car last week. I don't know if that is related to my new problem, but thought I would mention it on the chance that it is relevant. Notably, however, it seemed to work fine when I got it back form the dealer. What the problem may be?
Any way to keep the nav page displayed when on a phone call? I have a 2008 SC 430 with the latest software update. Every time a call comes in, or out, I lose the nav display the duration of the call. makes it hard to navigate while trying to conduct business.
View 4 RepliesI just took delivery of a 2013 Lexus GS 350 all-wheel-drive. I have the luxury package which includes the large display screen in the center of the dash. Unfortunately the plastic cover over the navigation screen is dirty on the inside. How to remove the plastic cover on the center display?
View 11 RepliesMy '15 sonata Limited w/ Tech package has been having some issues appear with the clock on the Navigation unit.
A few weeks back, I noticed that the Date/time display across the top of the navigation screen was showing May 28. When I dug down into the clock settings, it was pulling the date May 28, year 2035 from the GPS signal. Each day it would increment to the next day.
Then last week, the date and time would not load across the screen at all. Only the normal blue bar appears across the screen without any text or numbers.
With the Daylight Savings time change over the weekend, I tried to change the time on the LCD clock in the middle of the dashboard, the clock settings are grayed out and I can not change anything.
I already hit the reset button next to the knob on the dash, and also pulled the 15A fuse but neither one worked to reset anything.
I have a 2011 Hyundai Elantra with 170,000 miles on it. The Navigation display is toast and I am not going to be buying a new one. The car will be out the door when/if it makes it to 250k miles. I want to simply go to eBay and buy a used unit from a totaled Hyundai Elantra and just use that. Connections look the same except there are not jacks for a couple of the plugs that are on the Navigation unit. Those are obviously meant for the navigation display and the back-up camera, which I will lose by going to the regular audio/bluetooth unit. The navigation has always sucked anyway, so I don't care about that. I just want to be sure that the bluetooth and the radio work once I switch them out. I already have the Nav unit uninstalled. The screen is busted on it.
Current Unit (Navigation)
P/N: 96560-3X101FP
Model: AVN-700MDNA
Used Unit (Regular Audio/Bluetooth Unit):
P/N: 96170-3X161BLH
Model: PA-710MDLSBBLH
Will this one work?
Just had my 2015 ES350 for a week. Today when I was driving on the highway, all the sudden the audio display screen (no navigation) was turned off by itself, but I still hear the sounds from the speakers. all the buttons were not working. after few minutes, the display system seems reboot itself, then it was frozen at start screen with only shows the Lexus logo on it. until I pulled over and restarted the car, it was back to normal.
View 5 RepliesOn my way home a couple days ago, my navigation/stereo display started cutting out, and I noticed it only did it when putting additional current load on the system (windows, lights, etc...). I shut the truck off and there wasn't enough juice to start it.
I test at the battery and it is down to 11.4V. I was able to jump the truck and get it going. While running, I only have 11.1V at the battery. I assume this means that my Alternator has taken a dive.
I'm only posting to see if there is something else that I should considering as well... like a voltage regulator or something, but maybe that is built into the alternator?
I'm planning on hitting napa this afternoon to pick up an alternator unless someone tells me otherwise. I'm also interested in opinions on the best alternator to get and/or upgrade.
Aside from spending $ to have the polarity reversed on the HVAC display, is there anything be done to darken the display letters and numerals? In the daylight this thing is unreadable. Very poor design by Toyota. Any little tricks that I don't know about?
View 4 RepliesNot the usual. I stopped on my way home to get gas tonight when the gauge was showing one pip. Naturally it wasn't low, but I'm used to that.
The odd thing is that after I got in the car and turned it back on the gauge stayed at one pip and the fuel display on the multi-function display didn't reset.
I got into a situation on the expressway last night where I had to floor it from a dead stop and keep it floored. I was reaching about 70 MPH when I heard a faint "pop". The exclamation point came on, the check engine light came on and the car immediately started slowing down. I switched to the screen where it shows if the motor is running and it wasn't. I thought I blew the engine. I got to an exit on battery only and shut it down. Opened the hood and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary and no oil under the car either. Also checked the oil and it was fine.
I got back in, tried it and the motor started but the exclamation point and check engine light are still on. Now I'm scared of it.
It's got 110,000 miles on it and bought it used.
During around town driving I am experiencing a faint high pitch whine when braking. This sound is not mechanical, but more electrical coming from the dash-engine area. It is very noticeable when slowing between 40 mph to 20mph.
