Experienced the emergency flasher flash once or twice, when starting up the car (press brake + push start button)? What does these mean to my car? An error indicator? I've been facing this sometime but not too frequent, Toyota service guy said no error code appear in OBD?
View 9 RepliesI just got myself a UL 2007 Lexus ES 350 last month.
So here are my constraints:
1. My Emergency Flashers are not working, however the pointers work. (I have checked the fuses and they are fine)
2. My voice recognition seems not to like my accent, when I say "setup" it plays satellite radio (is there a way to play around with the setting for voice recognition ?)
3. When I am on rough roads, I get a lot of feedback on the steering wheel, what should I be worried about here?
4. My Wipers are supposed to be rain sensitive but they don't seem to work. Is there a setting I am missing?
5. My Steering Wheel doesn't go up and down, it only goes front and back. Rather than go up and down, it jerks slightly to the left or right, depending on where. What could be wrong?
So I'm working on a customers car, its a 2001 Passat, there is a buzzing sound that started when she would use her left turn signal, and now the sound wont stop, the only way to make it stop is to turn the car off, turn the blinker on, or the flashers. I'm thinking the Turn signal switch inside the steering area.
View 2 RepliesBought a 2001 F450 a couple of weeks ago. No problems until today. It's always made a strange sound, almost like a low air buzzer on a truck with air brakes whenever the emergency flasher is on.
Today the flashers quit working, but the buzzing sound still comes on when the switch is pressed. Turn & brake lamps still working fine. The truck is always hooked to a trailer, but behavior is the same whether trailer is plugged in or not. Now and then the flashers will activate for a couple of seconds and then right back off.
Also, I have an Aeroforce Interceptor gauge that plugs into the OBD II port. It works just fine until I hit the flasher button. Then the screen will fade in & out. At a loss to explain this one.
I have a '97 AWD and my brake light, turn signals and emergency flasher have stopped working. I've checked all the bulbs, checked all the fuses (under the dash) replaced the flasher just in front of the fuse box...nothing. All the running lights work, and the 3rd brake light above the rear door window works.
View 3 Replies2010 Prius with 85k miles. Went to start car and here is what I get. All lights on dash come on including emergency icons. When I depress brake to shift into gear lights on dash go dim but not out. Car does not go into gear and neither does it show it going into gear on display. Heater was on and I tried to shut off the fan and again no response. Very difficult to get it to shut off. Pushed off 3 or 4 times and it finally responded. Been cold here in the teens and car has not been used for 3 or 4 days. Everything has been fine up to this point. No problems with anything.
View 10 RepliesBeen driving my 2002 Prius since January 2005 and I've never heard this noise. It first happened Sunday as I was driving down the road, then this morning (twice) as I started the car. It lasts about 15 seconds for several "rings" of a shrill, electronic (definitely NOT mechanical) sound that reminds me of Emergency Broadcast System tests on the radio, or a really annoying cell phone ring. No visual warnings or lights are displayed (well, the Check Engine light is on, but it's always on, and my local Toyota dealership has been unable to shed any light).

I haven't received my LEDs yet, but when I installed this relay, turn signal does not have any response. The seller said this item is not compatible with my car, but according to my reading in the forum it should be. I saw other seller selling relay which looks the same as this one have description says it's compatible with Prius 2010. Is it just a faulty item or the compatibility issue does exists?
I am planning to install the WebElectric DRL-2P ( Sequential Turn Signals, One Touch Turn Signals, Challenger Sequential Taillights, Sequential Tail Lights, Mustang, Dynamite Stick Sequential, Pulsing Brake Light Pulser Flasher, One Touch Convertible Top, Dynamite Stick, One Touch Turn Signals, Dayt ) which uses the front turn signals as a DRL. Because the turn signal lights will be on all of the time, I am going to convert the turn signal bulbs to LEDs.
This will require changing the turn signal flasher (I don't want to use a resistor because of the current draw and heat issue), since the LEDs are seen as a burnt out bulb and causes a quick flash. What is the location of the turn signal flasher on the 2010? There is a thread for the 2009, but I am not sure it is the same. I would rather not take panels apart until I know that what I am looking for is underneath. What is the correct flasher to use? The closest I have seen is: LED Flasher Unit CF18-08 Specifications
One final question: Where can I locate a circuit in the engine compartment that I can tap into which is live only when the car is in the "Ready" mode. I want to use this as the trigger to turn on the DRL circuit. I have seen people suggest the windshield washer circuit, but was wondering if there is a better choice.
2015 prius package 5 w tech package and HUD display, I found a flasher mounted up between the fuse box/ module assembly mounted on a clip! I have a led replacement flasher, but clip mounts and pin locations don't line up? I watch the video but I have nothing in area! Or I just need to install the resistors? Or it could be a combination circuit assembly where multiple function module all in one ?

What to check and how to check/ replace parts I need to get it working again is there a flasher inside the steering column. or is there just a relay on the side where the fuses are ?

When I put on the emergency brake, the brake pedal or when I put the car in park or take it out of park and put it in D, it makes a "chuck chuck chuck" sound, not high pitched, but not a low sound either. It seems to be coming from under the hood on the left side. It sounds something like a belt slipping or a pump with a squeak maybe?
It does not appear to make this noise when simply depressing the brake while driving, so I'm not sure it's the same abs actuator issue.
If the hydraulic brakes go out what is the best procedure to brake in a Prius? No, I don't envision this happening just a "what if"?

View 6 RepliesI just bought an '07 Prius with all the options except leather, and when I took my wife out to show her how it works, it didn't. The emergency brake light wouldn't go off and the shifter light on the dash would only go to neutral. We turned it off and on again (more than once) and finally the e. brake light went off and the zero showed up for speed and we could go. I'm wondering if there is some safety feature that won't let you engage to go until the e. brake is released. And if the light is on, the car thinks the e. brake is still engaged. Plausible? How do I fix it? Would this be the switch on the pedal?
View 6 RepliesFrom what I've been able to gather there is a proclivity in the 2004-2007 Prii for the emergency brake light switch to break resulting in the dash brake light staying on endlessly. Here is a diagram on page 4 (Powered by Google Docs) of the emergency brake system with the switch labelled and here is a picture of the switch itself (RockAuto Parts Catalog).
I've located my switch and found that one of the plastic side pins is broken off and the whole thing is swiveling around. The problem is that I can't figure out how to get it off so I can replace it with a new one. I don't want to go to the mechanic for something like this.
Also, some of the information I've seen says that I need to replace the entire emergency brake pedal assembly. That could run several hundred dollars and I'm not prepared to do that just so a silly light will go off.
I have a 2005 Prius. Recently the headlight leveling system finally bit the dust. I will get it replaced sometime soon. Meanwhile, I'd like to reset the emergency light on the dash, the triangle with ! inside. As well, I'd like to remove the icon from the display unit. How I might do this?
