I dont like the fact that the DRL's are on with the parking lights, especially now that I installed LED parking light bulbs. How to be able to disable the DRLs when just the parking lights are on?

View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 blizzard pearl prius 4 and i just got it pre owned with only 39k miles about 2 months ago. I didn't notice this until just now but the first position on the headlight switch does not do anything...its supposed to turn on the little parking light up front and the parking light in the rear as well as the license plate light and the instrument panel lights. Mine does not do any of that until i switch the headlight on all the way. This tells me that my lights are not burned out but that there is a problem with the switch/stalk.
View 3 RepliesI had a question regarding the little lights that are above (I am assuming these are either daytime driving lights or parking lights) the fog lights. Is there anyway to keep these on all the time, or to turn them on/off with a switch? Reason I am asking is the Prius I am looking to buy does not come with fog lights and I notice the light above where the foglight would be is orange. Comparing that to Sylvania's lamp replacement guide for a 2011 prius, I assume that is what they refer to as the "parking light" (The turn signals have a different bulb). I was hoping I could replace that bulb with a clear bulb (instead of orange) and then keep it on all the time with my headlights on/off just to provide a little more light (even if it is negligible).
View 3 RepliesThis has happened to me twice (just today and about a month ago). The first time I was just sitting in the car, turned it off. It was hot outside so I just hit the power button without my foot on the break to start up the air conditioner. After a few minutes, a message pops up on the screen saying something about the transmission couldn't put the car in park and to park it on a level surface. I was on a level surface. I tried to start the car and it wouldn't start. After several tries, including inserting the key fob in the slot it finally started.
Today, I had almost the same scenario, only I was just returning to the car. Four warning lights came on, the parking break light was on (even those it wasn't engaged), and again the transmission message came up, saying I should move the car to a flat surface. After fiddling around, I got the car started again and immediately went to the Toyota dealership. I was just there yesterday getting an oil change and a once over safely check before I head back north which is a total of 24 hours of driving over several days.
I replaced brake pads on my 05 Prius Monday. The instructions I have say to pull 2 relays and pump and hold the brake pedal until I hear a buzz. This has worked fine the last time I did the brakes. This time I got the Brake, Parking brake,VSC and ABS lights when I powered up.
I did not open the hydraulic system, just push in the pistons. I test drove it then touched the brakes. The left front and right rear rotor/drums were hot but the others were not. Long story short, I want to reset the ABS system.
I replaced my rear brake shoes this past weekend. Immediately after I replaced them, the ABS, VSC, ((!)), and Parking Brake lights came on. I had not read that I should've disconnected the 12V battery before changing the shoes, so I wonder if that's related to the issue. I've read through as many threads here that I could dig up, but I still have questions. Here is what I know so far:
Car Info: 2004, 210k miles, Original 12V battery
Relevant Info: While replacing the shoes, one of the seals(?) (rubber part that slid over the piston(?)) slid off. I put it back on, and have checked for any fluids leaking, and have found none. I may pull the rotors off and check this again, though. There were no DTCs logged prior to the shoe replacement. Battery has shown no signs of dying, although I am going to check the voltage on it after I post this.
I tried jumping the pins, and I get the following flash codes (I tried resetting, but they came back immediately):
ABS: 4-2
VSC: 4-5
((!)): 6-5
I tried finding information on these flash codes, but have found nothing...
My CHS Tank was damaged in an accident a few years ago. I just replaced the CHS tank and the Inverter Coolant Pump within the last 12 months. It is still running when I power the car on and off as it should. I also jumped the fuse with a paperclip to double check that it runs.
My brake fluid levels are fine right now.
Possibly unrelated to the lights, but applying the parking brake is very easy. I don't think I adjusted the star adjuster enough. This is my first time messing with drum brakes, so it's possible I didn't adjust that correctly. Are these self-adjusting, or do I need to go back and adjust them by hand?
Ive got a '14 Pip, no new mods all my mods are atlas 6 months old. When I turn on my headlights at night and make sure the dimmer switch, by the fuel tank button, inside the cabin, is dimmed, the headlights work, the front parking lights work, the brake lights work ( WHEN I STEP ON THE PEDAL), but they don't turn on when I just have the parking lights on with out braking. So, to clarify, the parking lights (the two strip that are used as brake lights (led)) they don't turn on. what could it be? Some fuse? I made sure to cycle the column stalk switch a few times, and the dimmer switch a few times. Could removing and reattaching battery fix it? Should I take it to the dealer (~85k miles).

View 1 RepliesI've found in manual and also on this great forum that the headlights should switch off in 30 sec (in Europe's manual default stated is 60) after switching off and leaving the car. My main lights go off immediately after powering off, but parking lights stay on and never go off. Need to confirm that it should switch all lights off?
View 19 RepliesSomeone told my wife yesterday that her parking lights/tail lights weren't working in her 2004 Prius. When you turn the switch on the stalk one click, only the license plate light comes on. No parking/tail lights come on in the back, and the little lights above the headlights don't come on. Turn the switch another click, and the headlights come on. The brake lights work when you hit the brakes. I checked the fuses: the owner's manual doesn't really match what is in the car, so I checked a lot, and the ones I checked were all fine.
I used up all my diagnosing time deciphering the owner's manual and figuring out the fuses, so I didn't check the bulbs themselves yet (and now it's late, dark, and cold) but it seems really unlikely all 4 of these lights are out at once. Someone else in the forum had a problem where their parking lights only came on when their high beams were on, so I tried that, but that didn't make mine work. There's no history of mysterious electrical problems or collisions. I am able to do some DIY maintenance, and replaced the MFD twice, but have a healthy respect for electricity and don't have any tools beyond a voltage meter.
I have a 2010 prius. I bought the car used a month ago. at the time of purchase both parking lights were on when my headlight is turned on. Now it won't turn on unless I turn on my high beam. Should I take it to Toyota dealer and have them take a look at it. It is certified preowned.
View 4 RepliesSo last night, I left my parking lights on in my car (accidentally). 14 hours later, I come to the vehicle and it starts up no problem. I'm assuming that the lights automatically turn off, but the manual only says that the headlights do. I tried to duplicate the situation and I did just once, but I couldn't get the car do it again. Is this a standard feature that I can rely on? Or was this some instance of divine intervention?

I recently upgraded to a "Euro" light switch to get more flexibility with my lights. Put tape on the TFL pin to disable DRLs in OFF Mode. Put tape on the 56d pin to disable DRLs in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode. Completely successful -- no DRLs, just as taping the TFL pin on the original light switch accomplished long ago.
BEFORE I did any taping this time, I installed the Euro switch AS IS and tested all of its modes and physical positions:
(1) OFF: No fog light position available (switch knob will not pull out). As expected and okay.
(2) FULL ON Fog lights come on (but who the hell can see them?!?) when switch knob is pulled out one stop into the fog light position -- and the little front fog symbol on the switch lights up. Again, expected and just fine.
(3) CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights): The fog lights position is physically available by pulling the switch knob out one stop... BUT THE PARKING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON (regardless of ignition switch position, emergency hand brake position, etc., etc.) And the little fog light symbol on the switch does not light up. (Not surprisingly, pulling the knob further out to the REAR fog light position does nothing either.)
THIS IS NOT GOOD - since with a Euroswitch one ought to be able to manually select and de-select the fog lights while in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode!
How to make my FRONT FOG LIGHTS available in Euroswitch CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode...?
I have installed Precision premium LED parking lights (which are the little bulbs right above the headlights) in the place of the standard bulbs which from the factory are 194's. The LED lights occasionally turn off individually or sometimes just one side will go out, but if I turn my lights off and on again they both come back on. Why this is happening or any solutions to fix it? Is it the Bulbs or what because I thought LED draws less power than a standard bulb?

View 7 RepliesI have a 2001 Excursion, 6.8 V10, with the factory fog lights.
The fog lights worked fine, until a few days ago until they suddenly stopped working when just the parking lights are on.
I can still pull out the switch, the indicator light does not come on but the parking lights still work. When I turn it to the headlight position with the switch pulled out everything comes on and works like it should.
I tried checking the fuses but I didn't see one labeled in the manual for the fog lights so I don't know for sure which one to check. Could I possibly have a bad switch?
Late last night as I was puling up to park in front of a dark restaurant, I turned off my headlights so I would not blind the people inside. This is a 2010 Prius III.
When I left and tried to turn them back on, only the drivers side parking light (the small white one above the headlight) and side marker light worked. Passenger side nothing works, however on both sides the high beams do work.
LS460 L ... Re-wiring fog lights to come on with only parking lights? How did you do it. Do fog lights also stay on now with brights?

My left rear parking light does not come on when the lights are on...all other lights and signals on the car are perfect...if you press on the brake, then the parking light bulb lights up just as if you were braking, and when you let off the brake it goes blank again. Its not the bulb, and its not the light bulb module because i took out the other rear one and plugged it in and had the same problems and plugged the "bad" module into the "good" side and it worked fine. So it looks like there is a bad wire somewhere correct? Also...I looked up in the car wiring diagram and that red/black wire leads to the ABS control....so it would have to be a bad wire between the light and the abs?
