View 11 RepliesJust purchased a 2010 Prius with 17's (after market) rims. Wondering now if the change in rim size/style will cause my MPGs to go way down.
View 13 RepliesI have an ' 87 Dodge Caravan cargo van that came originally with 195-70-14 size tires. I recently got for free, a like new set of 205-75-14 tires that I put on to replace the worn old set. My question is how will this throw off my speedometer, say at 35 mph or at 55-65 mph on the highway?
View 6 RepliesI've fallen hard for the C and I'm wondering how the gas mileage has been compromised by the use of the AC. I realize it's spring everywhere else, but I'm dying to know.
View 3 RepliesI have a feeling my 2012 C 3 may have low tire pressure. One of the tires looks kind of softer. Is there an indicator that warns when it happens?
How in general do I approach this? For the past few weeks my mpg was low, barely making it into low 40's. So, I wonder if the tire pressure can affect the mpg.
Is there a clear outcome on MPG on whether it increases it or decreases it?
View 19 RepliesWell, after the October snow storm where it took me 6 hours and alot of sliding around to get home, I decided to get all season tires with good snow traction. I picked up the Hankook Optimo H727 and had them installed at Walmart on 11/21/2011. Right away, my MPG dropped significantly.
View 8 RepliesJust had new tire installed and now noticing that the original stem cap was not used. Alarm is not lit, but wondering if I should try to retrieve the original one, since we notified the tire shop that afternoon......or purchase a new one.
View 5 RepliesI just bought a 2010 Prius II and was wondering what size wheels will fit on it. What is the minimum offset I can go with a 17x8 without having the tire scrape the fender when I turn the wheel all the way to make u-turns?
View 2 RepliesHow the Prius calculates mpg based on miles driven then I need to create a formula that allows us to determine mpg when you change tire size.
We know the GenIII speedo reads between 1-2mph too fast but the ECU will continue to read exactly 2mph too fast despite tire size changes as verified by Scangauge and Torque app. So what is your mpg based on? Readings from the odometer, speedometer or something else?
If you change tire size then your miles driven is going to be altered. It's either going to be more accurate or less accurate depending on how this information is derived. If the miles driven is altered then so will be your mpg reading.
Is it true that a going from the OEM tire on the genII prius to larger 195/60/15 can cause or increase instability issues. I would think the point is to have wider tires to improve the stability...
View 10 RepliesMy front right or left or both for that matter, (its hard to pinpoint the noise while driving) makes a clinking noise when I hit a good size bump. No noise at all on smaller ones?
View 2 RepliesI've recently started to have issues where when I get up over 55/60 mph the traction control will engage and limit the acceleration of my 2009 prius. I took the car into my local Toyota dealership and they claim it is because of the size tire I have.
I recently purchased a set of Hankook Optimo H727 replacement tires. After having done my research (mostly on these forums) I decided to go with the P195/60R15 tire size. Now I have several reasons to believe that the dealership has misdiagnosed the issue:
1. There are loads of people on this site who have installed 195 size tires (and larger) without issue as far as I can tell.
2. The issue did not begin immediately after installing the new tires, but rather a couple months later.
3. My brother installed the same exact tires on his 2005 Prius and does a lot more freeway driving than I do and has not had an issue.
4. My understanding from reading here is that in some other countries Priuses come with 195 size tires stock.
My original Yokohama avid s33 is about ready to be changed. It now have over 42k on them. I think I can still stretch it before the winter starts. My OEM size are 195/65/15 and I'm thinking of getting the 205/65/15. According to Tire Dimensions Made Simple - Discount Tire my tire rotation will decrease by over 16 revs per mile. I know the side wall is going to be about a quarter an inch higher about an inch and a half bigger in circumference And the car is going to sit half an inch higher and a wider Width.
Looking for observation/s pertaining to performance, mpg, handling, traction, etc.
Just bought some new front rotors and there's a scratch on one of them and was wondering if it would affect the functionality. Just don't want to go through the hassle of returning/exchanging it but willing to if it does.
View 15 RepliesI know that sport mode raises the rpm at which shifts occur, but it feels like this mode also makes the throttle response more sensitive. Though, this could be because Sport keeps the needle in the primo range of the power band.
And at the risk of turning this thread into another topic: Does race, either over revving at a light, or just being passes aggressively and stuff like that? This is somewhat geographically dependent. I am originally from PA and live here now and people try and race me all the time, or drive more agressively around me than I feel they otherwise would were in a less sick car.
I am sure I read somewhere that the 2014 advanced and/or advanced tech had larger wheels but am unable to confirm that now. Whenever I switch to EV mode after turning on the vehicle, it starts the ICE. Is this normal? If so, why would it do that?
View 8 RepliesThis morning I started my car and all the lights were flashing and when I started my car when it was warmer it was fine.
View 3 RepliesI recently had the timing belt replaced on my 1999 Acura Integra (which incidentally is a great car). Seems like my gas mileage has been down by a couple of miles per gallon ever since.
Is it possible that some normal aspect of replacing it would reduce gas mileage? This was a new shop to me--is it possible they did something to the engine that would reduce the gas mileage?
My son's 2007 Hyundai Sonata had an engine noise that was eventually diagnosed as bad timing chain tensioners. However, one Hyundai dealer repeatedly denied the problem, so it was 8 months before another Hyundai dealer admitted it and changed the tensioners. A couple of months later, the engine light and oil light were on and he was told he needed a new oil pump. By this time, the warranty had expired and he had to pay for the new oil pump and eventually a new engine. My question is this: Could the failure of the oil pump have had anything to do with the timing chain tensioner problem?
View 19 RepliesWe are looking for a 2005-2006 GX 470. I like all the options that come on them but I have always felt the more you have the more you have to fix. Some of the $ spent to maintain the GX is not a problem such as mechanical items. I like the vehicle enough to be willing to deal with the air ride suspension in the future. If the navigation system goes out does it take out anything else? I do not feel a great need for the navigation and was wondering if it should be a factor in our purchase?
