Prius C (Audio/Electronics) :: How To Stop / Lessen Trunk Rattles

Jun 24, 2012

I recently installed a 10" Alpine Type R Subwoofer (Installed Alpine Type R 10" Subwoofer! | PriusChat), but the trunk rattles were annoying and made listening to music less satisfying. I was able to completely remove mine with only FELT pads intended for chairs. Note that I went for sound quality, not overpowering bass on my setup. I am only pushing 20% of the subwoofers' capabilities.

First, you have to keep your rear license plate from rattling. In order to do this, apply 3 or 5 Felt Pads to the back of the license plate. One near the top right, one in the top left, one in the top middle. This was sufficient for me.

Second, have a look at the inside of the trunk door/lid. You will see a black automotive carpet type pad attached to the inside of the lid. On the inside of this carpet, it's hard plastic, and this was the other main source of my rattles. You will see that it is fastened by plastic pins that are secured. Don't take these out. Instead, kind of pry the carpet piece so that you can fit a felt pad onto the top of the carpet piece on the inside.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Audio Fade Away And Stop

I have an odd thing that happens to my Prius IV. I plug my iPhone into the USB Port, since I found the BlueTooth would go nuts when I'd use the phone.

This has happened 3 times now. While simply listening to my Podcasts over iTunes, while plugged into the USB port, I've had the audio just fade away and stop. If you look at the iPhone, you'll see that the charging has stopped. Even if you unplug and replug the dock connector, the port appears dead. Phone won't charge, and it won't talk to the head unit. I found the only solution is to power off the car and power it on again. Then the charging starts up again, and everything is fine....well as fine as the fussiness of the USB AUX coming up and populating, but I'm used to that. And the skipping/glitchy sound as well, but I'm also used to that.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Front Driver Side Speakers Stop Working

So long story short. I have 2010 Prius package V, JBL. Recently 2 of front driver side speakers stop working(1 on dash,1 on door) only when I listen to radio and stream music from my iphone. I played with the L/R F/R balance and made sure about it. However when I got phone call and using navigation guidance voice it works no problem.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Playback Won't Stop While Accepting Incoming Phone Call?

All of a sudden, when I answer a bluetooth phone call, the phone call screen comes up but

1) Whatever was playing on my stereo doesn't stop and
2) Neither I nor the person calling can hear each other and the phone call ends.

What to do? I tried unpairing and re-pairing my phone and that did not work.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Can Stop JBL System From Automatically Playing IPod Tracks Whenever Plug Phone In

I have an iPhone 5S and whenever I plug it in to my car it automatically switches to the iPod input and starts playing tracks in alphabetical order, though sometimes it remembers to continue playing whatever I had playing on my phone before. This is rather annoying because I'd rather the car stay in whatever input mode I had it, and if I do switch to iPod or Bluetooth, I want it to *always* remember to play what I was playing before, even if it's Pandora and not "iPod" music. Is there a way to configure the JBL system to do this? Or at the very least stay in its current input mode until I manually switch it?

Prius V (Audio/Electronics) :: Add Pause Or Wait To Phone Number Display Audio

Can Display Audio's phone interface accept pauses or waits (P or W) in the phone number? My phone uses them for voicemail passwords, eg dial the number, pause a few seconds, and then dial the password. So far it does not work at all through the bluetooth interface when initiated through voice command ("call xxx xxx xxxx pp yyyy#") or through the car's screen. I tried to directly store a similar number into the Display Audio "stored" numbers but could not find an option for the P pause.

Gen 4 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Audio System To Reboot Itself By Pressing Power Button?

I Learned on a Toyota Avalon web page that you can force your audio system to reboot itself by pressing the power button for three seconds. On the Avalon, it only works on the "Limited" levels. I tried it tonight on my Prius Four and it worked. Great to use when your audio gets "confused" and you just want to clear it and start over.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: 2014 - Whenever Stopping Audio System Pauses The Playback?

I've been using MP3 CDs in autos for some years. Now I have a 2014 Prius 4 with whatever audio system is standard in that model. Generally all is good. But there is one odd thing: Whenever I stop the car, or it seems even pause the playback, it seems to restart so as to replay a few minutes I listened to on the last session.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: MP3 File Size Limitation For USB Drive Audio Playback?

I presently use a 16GB USB drive that has about 240 MB of 2 to 10 MB mp3 files and it works well. The reason I ask is that SirisXM is going to drop my favorite channel (69) and I was thinking of making some large files of audio capture before it goes away. Large because its easier to make and play a few than many. There might be a file size limitation (not USB storage limitation) due to the amount of memory in the audio system.

Prius C (Audio/Electronics) :: Illumination Of Audio And AC Display In Bright Sunlight

Sometimes in the bright sunlight, I cannot see the audio display or the small AC display that shows which vents the air is coming out from. Is there any way to illuminate these displays? Will some LEDs around them work or make it worse? I'm driving a C two. I have no intention of upgrading to an aftermarket sound system; I just want a simple inexpensive way to see the info on the screen.

Gen 2 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: 2007 Audio Button Didn't Work

07 Prius, 6 speaker NON-JBL.

This happened a couple of weeks ago and then again. ALL the buttons on my steering wheel work, AC, Temperature, Defrost, Recirculation etc , except Audio. ( Dash audio functions work fine! )

The last time, restarting the car and the functions came back to life.

Is there some kind of official "reboot" process for the computers?

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Bluetooth Won't Connect With Portable Audio Player

I noticed that when I active BT on my phone it connects to my cars phone BT automatically. But has a harder time when I try to connect to the portable audio player to stream music. I have to turn off the BT on my phone and turn it back on and then hit the "connect" button for the audio player and it works. Then I have to go back to the phone screen and hit connect again.

Prius C (Audio/Electronics) :: IPod Or Bluetooth Audio - Skip To Next Song?

When I am listening to songs from iPhone there are buttons on my head unit (C2 radio NOT nav system) for play/pause, fwd, rewind BUT the rewind and fwd buttons only forward through the song it's playing (like you used to be able to do with cassette tapes) and it does NOT skip to the next song. How stupid is that? I have never seen a digital audio player that did this, the fwd/rewind always skip back a song or fwd a song BUT the prius head unit only skips through the song itself.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: How To Have Audio Screen Remain Permanently On View

Is there anyway to have the audio screen remain permanently on view? On my 2010 Prius, the screen view changes back to another screen after about 15 seconds. I would like the audio screen to remain on view so I can make changes between various presets. I know I can do this with the buttons on the steering wheel, but this may involve lots of button pushing. I also want to be able to flip between the presets and the text view (which shows me artist and song title.

Gen 2 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Touch Screen / Audio Failing Intermittently?

Beginning yesterday, my touch screen and radio work only part of the time. It started with the radio just going silent for a few seconds at a time. Today, and this seems odd, I can mostly make it fail by starting car with foot on brake. I can mostly make touch screen and radio work normally by starting it with with foot off the brake. I considered fuse, which is unlikely, but... According to manual, touch screen and audio are on same fuse as clock, and clock is working fine.

Prius V (Audio/Electronics) :: Bluetooth Audio Connecting / Loading - How To Default Maps Setting

Everytime, I get into my V I play my various podcast (via iPhone). However, its takes about a minute (as compared to my wife's RX which connects instantaneously). Why it takes such a long time? Bluetooth is always on and its be "paired".

Also, when I turn off audio, the screen simply shows blue screen with "audio off". Is there a way that I can always default to the map screen instead of going to apps --> maps --> show map? Not a biggie, but a nice to have for me.
