Prius C (Audio/Electronics) :: Bluetooth Loses Connection And Can't Reconnect Sporadically
Jan 30, 2014
I listen to audio books through my phone/bluetooth connection. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My phone is paired and bluetooth shows connected but it can't find the device...

The Prius V drops the bluetooth connection sporadically and after a bit reconnects; when I start up the car the connectivity is not always seamless-often saying no Bluetooth is set up but then after a few seconds connects; I can be on hands free and talking away only to find out I lost bluetooth and the call reverted to the phone, and finally I have tons of static.
The bottom line is I can no longer use the phone in the car for business.

I just started using Spotify, and would like to stream music from its app on my mobile phone (iPhone 6) in my 2011 Prius.
I plugged the phone into the USB jack in the center well, and found this seems to work fine. However, it would be a little easier if I could do the streaming via bluetooth with no wire connection.
When I start the car, in a few seconds I see a message that the car is connected to the iPhone as a hands-free phone. If I press the "Audio" button at the lower left of the dash screen, the "BT" tab is grayed out and I can't select it.

I have a 2012 Prius IV with the solar package and I love it, but when I connect the USB cord from the (hidden) usb connection to my iphone, it automatically reverts to the bluetooth connection.
I managed to get the Entunes to work for a little bit today, but now it won't connect at all. It has to do with the usb connection. I've only had the car a week- sometimes the ipod will work for a few minutes but then it switches to bluetooth. And Entunes is apparently only supposed to connect through the usb, not bluetooth.

I have an android phone (Motorola Atrix 4G), and it bluetooth syncs fine with my Prius C One, however when I am driving on the freeway, it will occasionally disconnect for several minutes, then reconnect. It's annoying because I use my phone as my personal Ipod and I can't stand listening to the radio, and without fail, every-time I drive in heavy traffic, it will disconnect and I'll have silence for a few minutes till it reconnects. I can't upgrade my phone till February and I plan to get an Iphone, but for the time being I guess I'll have to use an Auxiliary cable instead of bluetooth.

When I connect a phone to my wife's Prius it pairs easily enough. The problem is, each time i start the car, it finds the phone and decides to tell the phone to start streaming music.

I noticed that when I active BT on my phone it connects to my cars phone BT automatically. But has a harder time when I try to connect to the portable audio player to stream music. I have to turn off the BT on my phone and turn it back on and then hit the "connect" button for the audio player and it works. Then I have to go back to the phone screen and hit connect again.

When I am listening to songs from iPhone there are buttons on my head unit (C2 radio NOT nav system) for play/pause, fwd, rewind BUT the rewind and fwd buttons only forward through the song it's playing (like you used to be able to do with cassette tapes) and it does NOT skip to the next song. How stupid is that? I have never seen a digital audio player that did this, the fwd/rewind always skip back a song or fwd a song BUT the prius head unit only skips through the song itself.

I have a new 2014 Prius Three. I am able to play music from my new ipad mini through my head unit via bluetooth. When I try to play video however, there is a 1-2 second audio lag behind the video.

Everytime, I get into my V I play my various podcast (via iPhone). However, its takes about a minute (as compared to my wife's RX which connects instantaneously). Why it takes such a long time? Bluetooth is always on and its be "paired".
Also, when I turn off audio, the screen simply shows blue screen with "audio off". Is there a way that I can always default to the map screen instead of going to apps --> maps --> show map? Not a biggie, but a nice to have for me.

2013 Prius. Audio worked fine yesterday but on my way to work this morning the car would not play audio from my iPhone 6s. The Bluetooth is connected fine and calling still works but when I play music the screen shows that the music is playing but I get no sound from my speakers. I've tried resetting my phone and turned the car off and on to no avail.

I bought a cheap alternative bluetooth receiver at radio shack to try to create a workaround and it synced up perfectly. So, I believe it has something to do with the car BT. How to get it to work right?

I have a new 2015 Prius 4 and have the 3-month trial of SiriusXM radio. I need to understand what functions would go away if I let the subscription expire. If I navigate to a destination, I get audible real-time traffic updates for the selected route. Is that from the satellite? If I am driving without a destination set, there are areas of congestion shown on the navigation screen. Satellite? Anything else?

2013 Prius C with Entune. The USB connection allows me to charge my iPod (3rd generation) and iPhone 4S but I cannot play music via that connection. The system is designed to allow playback through the USB, right? I plugged in a flashdrive and was able to play music. I have tried three cables and none allow the feed from the device into the audio system. I am able to connect into the Aux port and play music.

I have a 2011 Prius III without Nav. It has bluetooth pairing, and pairs with the Galaxy Nexus phone (android) to make and receive calls just fine. However, there seems to be no way to play music through the phone? (I currently have an audio cable which I plug into my phone. But for various reasons, this is far from an ideal solution for me.)
I have contacted the Toyota dealership where I bought the Prius and they seem to think this does not work. However, can this really be the case?
(1) Is there something I'm missing in order to play music through bluetooth on my phone?
(2) If there isn't, what are my after-market options for doing so? (I don't need navigation or anything else.)

Just got my Prius III last week and I've noticed that every time I leave the car, the bluetooth on my phone shows its still connected, even though the car is off and I'm no where near it. What's worse is that when I return to the car, it doesn't reconnect. So I'm not sure if its the phone or the car. I had bluetooth in my Tacoma for years and it worked fine, so it has to have something to do with the car. Its a Droid 4.

Android person myself but noticed on wife's iPhone 6s occasionally the audio via Bluetooth to the jbl system gets choppy . it basically keeps cutting on and off. She has to duly then disconnect Bluetooth on iPhone and then reconnect to remedy.

I have an Android phone paired to the bluetooth and I love being able to listen to audio apps on the car stereo. However, it has a most annoying habit. The most common app I listen to through BT is Audible recorded books. I also have Pandora and the stock music player on my phone. Generally, before I shut down, I press the pause button on the audio screen and turn off the audio power switch. When I restart the car and the BT audio, while it will usually start with the app I was last listening to (i.e., Audible), it very often decides it is going to play something from the music player. I don't understand why it makes this decision because it isn't because I have been listening to the music player since turning off the car!
