When I plug my iPhone into the USB port sometimes a message pops up that says "The accessory uses too much power and will be turned off" Then a few seconds later my phone will stop charging, but then within a matter of seconds it will charge again and go on and off like this each time giving me the error message.

I have a 2012 PIP (assume same technology as non-PIP Gen 3s?). I paired my Galaxy S3 phone with the PIP and when my phone receives a text message, I get the prompt on the Prius' screen to read the text message to me. I then paired my wife's iPhone4 to the car, but when she gets a text, there's no prompt on the Prius' screen to read the text. Where should I start troubleshooting this?

View 1 RepliesThe car beeped at me when I tried to lock it. Initially, I thought I forgot to turn it off. But no, it said "keys detected inside". Not so, as the key was in my pocket outside when I tried to lock it and the other key was 10 miles away at home.
View 2 RepliesTwice so far, when my iPhone is paired with my V, base model 5, I get a notice that there is a software update, but it's always popped up at inopportune times. Now that I'm at home, I can't get the message to pop up.
Can I manually download whatever it is that needs to be updated rather than waiting for the message again?
I figured out how to get the text message function to work on my head unit. It was a setting on my iPhone, under Bluetooth it was the "show notifications". Then all of a sudden bam any texts I get while in the car pop up and the HU will read them aloud, also there are a bunch of quick responses.

I noticed when I have my iphone 4s plugged in to the USB and my BT is on I don't get the notification noise that i always do when I get a text message. When I get a phone call it rings on the car speakers since I have it connected to my BT but not the text message. I commute to work over an hour each way and i hate to keep checking my phone to see if I got a text since it's not going off when I get a message.
View 3 RepliesI had a Samsung Galaxy s4 that gave me the message tethering detected and then the only way to get my phone to connect via bluetooth again was to delete the phone from the car and reestablish the connection which only worked until the signal popped up again. I called US Cellular and they thought it was the phone so I chose to get a refurbished s4 over having work done on my phone. I had that phone hooked up and working well for about 1 month and now the second phone is doing it.
The message last popped up while I was in my office across the street from the Prius. I'm guessing it's either a s4 issue or a US Cellular issue being it happens in and out of the car, but US Cellular is convinced it's my car. I'm thinking about switching to an iPhone because this is only one of the many things I hate about Samsung galaxies.
If I'm using Bluetooth to listen to music and my headlights are on when I switch the headlights off to just parking and the daytime running lights the navigation/radio shuts off the music and goes to the off screen. At first I thought it was just a fluke, but then several more times I tried it and every time it turns off.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius II that I am attempting to install a Pioneer AVIC-5000NEX head unit into. After following the instructions in the sticky thread the head unit itself works perfectly, but the car beeps constantly when turned off, and if I exit the vehicle the screen says key not detected. If I remove the Pioneer head unit and plug in the factory everything works great, but anytime I have the factory head unit removed I can not leave the vehicle without the key not detected error.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2011 Prius Four with JBL/navi package. When I go to turn the volume knob up or down the navi screen pops open as if I were going to eject or insert a cd. Only sometimes will it close back up when I press the eject/close button otherwise I have to twist the volume knob back and fourth until it randomly closes. THEN, when I set FM/AM station presets, power off the car, power car back on, the screen shows "loading" and everything resets except for the Bluetooth phone settings. Is there any firmware update I need to install via usb?
View 1 RepliesI Learned on a Toyota Avalon web page that you can force your audio system to reboot itself by pressing the power button for three seconds. On the Avalon, it only works on the "Limited" levels. I tried it tonight on my Prius Four and it worked. Great to use when your audio gets "confused" and you just want to clear it and start over.
View 1 RepliesWhen my 2012 Prius II has audio in aux mode, for using the 3.5 mm aux audio jack, a super-loud and annoying buzz is created when I plug my laptop's power supply into the car via a 12V DC to 115V AC power converter plugged into either of the car's 12V aux power jacks.
I'm trying to listen to video lectures on DVD played on my laptop, feeding audio from my laptop to the car (2012 Prius II) using the 3.5 mm aux audio jack. I get clear sound when the laptop is running off battery. However, when I plug a 12V DC to 115V AC power converter into one of the 12V aux power jacks, there is a quiet and slightly annoying buzz.
When I then plug my laptop's power supply into the power converter (whether or not my laptop is connected to its power supply), the buzz's loudness and annoyance get magnified 10-fold, even if nothing is plugged into the aux audio jack. If the Prius audio mode gets switched to USB mode (with no input from the laptop), there is no buzz, so this seems particular to aux mode audio. (I cannot drive the car's audio from a video player on my laptop via USB mode, can I?)
I thought I remember reading a warning about this buzz and someone had a workaround, possibly involving some extra interface, but my searches on this forum aren't turning up anything. I plugged a surge protector into the power converter and got a mid-volume buzz, which went back to a full-volume buzz with the laptop power supply plugged in.
Looking for location of the XM tuner so I can switch out the poor factory antenna but I see no clear location specified for a 2012 Prius.
The closest location I saw was from a posting by GeoGeek that pretty much said there is no specific location for this tuner. He mentions several possible locations. Is that because they're usually dealer installed?

When the map was on the screen, I went down a new section of interstate where the GPS was telling me I was going over grass or turn here from the grass to a city road. How do you update the map or should I continue to use Google maps on my cell phone?

View 4 RepliesI have a 2012 Prius V and the rear speaker(s) hardly put out any sound. When I balance the system to get more output in the rear, I get hardly any sound in the frount. Is there an individual speaker adjustment? Is this normal or do I have defective speaker(s)?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 Prius 4 and my USB-connected iPod skips. I've tried 2 different USB cables and 3 different iPods. I also tried the vehicle in different driving modes (ECO, Power, EV) and the iPod skips every time. However, the iPod works perfectly when using the aux jack.
I took the car to the dealer and they applied a software update but the skipping persists. The dealer tried the iPod in another 2012 Prius and it skipped. They admit there is a problem but the dealer says nothing can be done until Toyota technical support gets enough complaints that they come up with a fix.
