I got a Prius c 2015 and when I got the car home (about 13 miles) the gas motor was making a noise when the car was turned off. It lasted about 3 or 4 minutes. Is that normal?
Also the brakes sound a little like a jet as I slow down. I think the brake noise is normal but the gas engine one is what concerned me.
My prius that I got about 1 1/2 years ago (2013 model) was making some noise. After conducting a few experiments I came to the conclusion it was the heat that was causing it. I removed the glovebox and lower plastic panel as well to see if it was actually the blower that was making the noise. And it was the blower.
So now it's like 20 degrees outside and I haven't used the heat because I didn't want to blow something so gotta get this fixed ASAP.
Like I mentioned glovebox and lower panel are open I've removed 2 of the 3 screws necessary to remove the blower. So the problem lies with the 3rd screw. There is a plastic socket with wires that is preventing me from reaching the 3rd screw so I have to remove that socket. So I have a couple pictures and how I can remove this so I can access the blower motor.
Also isn't it strange that the car isn't even 3 years old and the blower is giving me problems?
Ok, I turned the A/C on High 65 degrees and drove about 2 miles home with four people in the car. When I turned the car off and got out I heard hissing and what can only be described as .. Well the old metal / Aluminum ice trays that we used to make ice cubes in the freazer? My kids said it sounded like the car was singing or playing music? I opened the hood but did not see any thing frozen. It took about 5 minutes to slowly fade out and stop making noise.
View 3 RepliesI just bought a new 2015 prius a few days ago. After a couple of days of driving it around, I noticed this clunking noise that lasts about 2 seconds while the car's shutting off its gas engine when the vehicle is at a complete stop. It happens more frequently a few minutes after I started driving the car. When the car is coming to a stop and the 'EV' light is not on yet (only 'ECO' light is on), after the vehicle's made a complete stop, I start to hear this clunking noise (it almost sounds like the noise you hear when you press down your emergency break).
After this noise, I feel the vibration and hear that the gas engine's shut off. I talked to the dealership and they hopped in to hear that noise, and as always, it didn't happen. But as soon as I left the dealership, I hear it again. the car is normal when 'EV' light is on when its coming to a stop (no abnormal noise), but its only when the gas engine shuts off after the car has made a complete stop. And the noise is even louder when the vehicle is on a slope, either uphill or downhill.

There is a recurring moan that comes from the engine compartment around 40% of the time while the vehicle is idling. Sometime it's a moaning sound and other times it's more of a grunting noise, almost sounds like the engine is reving, only the RPM guage doesn't move.
Doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold. Car has just over 2,000 miles.
Dealer, naturally, could not reproduce the noise.
There is a grinding noise when i make a turn,when i straighten out it's fine,when i bought the truck in 09 i had a shudder problem but that was repaired by greasing the spline in the drive shaft. Truck has 59,000 and is coming up on the 60,000....

View 1 RepliesI have a 2015 Sonata 2.0T limited, and there is a noise coming from the back, driver's side, after shutting off the motor. I've taken it in 3 times for this, and each time they say nothing is wrong; but, I've driven a lot of cars and trucks, and I've never heard a noise like this.
I'm guessing it's some kind of gas tank related valve that's closing, but it's making a very loud noise each time.
I have a 2009 Kia Sedona that is in great condition. I noticed an odd thing today. After shutting the car off and letting it sit for an hour or so, I came out to my garage and a heard a weird whirring noise. I couldn't place it at first, but I eventually realized it was coming from the Sedona. The best I am able to locate it is under the rear, near the back axle. It doesn't sound louder on either side of the vehicle.
The noise itself sounds like a small electric motor moving. Almost like in those old movies when a robot would move his arm. It happens anywhere between every 30 - 60 seconds, but not at regular intervals. Right before the noise happens there is a light click, which I'm assuming is a switch that's powering the thing opening.
I have a 2002 Subaru legacy wagon, 185k miles, 5 speed manual, thumping noise when making sharp turns at slow speed, happens only after I drive over about 10 miles, does not happen after the car sits for any length of time.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2004 Nissan Murano. Recently I noticed that the motor is noisy while running and idling both - no difference. I can't really hear it outside of the car, but I sure can inside. It's even worse when it's cold. Is this something to be concerned about?We took it to a local mechanic who could hear the noise, but what was causing it.
The last time we had several trips to mechanics with no answers, we wound up replacing a transfer case that went kaplooey. We had at least three mechanics on that one. No one knew why it smelled like burned oil, or leaked a little. Until it went out completely.
My A/C has been making a loud noise for a couple months now ,only when I put the A/C on the highest setting. I was LONG overdue for a cabin air filter change so I bought a new one and while I was down there I looked inside the blower motor and here's what I saw... It is now blowing fine and not making a noise . Sprayed some Ozium New Car spray on the new cabin air filter and my car is smelling great now !

View 2 RepliesBeen driving my Sonata 2015 2.0t for about 14 months, now. Just turned 13.5k miles. I had first noticed this issue a few months into having the car, but didn't think anything of it. At the time, I wasn't spending much time in the upper end of the rev range. Today, I finally decided that it bugs me enough to investigate.
At WOT, starting around 5500 rpm and going until redline, there is a "raspy" sound coming from the motor that I think might be predetonation, but I'm not sure. It isn't very loud, which is why I originally ignored it, but it is easily noticeable inside the car. I've made some modifications in the past few weeks (Intake, OCC, and Exhaust) so I'm starting to have a bit more fun with the car and want to make sure I get this resolved before it becomes a bigger issue.
Out of curiosity, I looked inside the catch can and noticed a couple drops of fluid (lighter in color), which was surprising since I only installed it ~50 miles ago. Any by "a couple drops" I mean maybe 3mL of fluid. Not sure if that is significant in this case, but I figured it is worth mentioning.
I'm wondering if it could just be the altitude (Denver, CO) and the stock tune is off just a bit? I've been looking into the Lap3 Uncle Chip and HKS performance plugs, but am hesitant to go any further without better understanding what might be happening.
So the problem seems to be the climatronic system is constantly trying to adjust the temperature but the problem is that the motors or servos are making an annoying ticking noise as it adjusts. I already had the blend door assembly replaced but the noise is still there. My Touareg has climatronic and doesn't make any noise, so don't believe I should be getting this noise in my Passat. Service advisor claims its normal to make some noise since his Passat does the same thing, but I don't buy that. So who has had the same issue and got it fixed properly? What did they replace?

View 5 RepliesI heard some weird sounds, it sounded like some metal dropping on concrete, when I stepped on the brake while making turns. I know in the manual it says "Sounds may be heard due to regenerative braking when the brake pedal is depressed." in P.28, but was the sound normal?

2007 Explorer XLT 4x4, 4.0 OHV, AT, 89,000 miles on the odometer.
We took the truck to dinner last night so I could investigate the problem. This occurs while only making left hand turns at slow speed.
There is a definite clunk sound AND feel. It actually sounds and feels like we are driving over a loose manhole cover, and IT DOES feel like metal to metal contact on the driverʻs sids of the truck.
Sometimes when my car as sitting at an idle in either drive or reverse the motor starts to make a knocking noise from the back of the motor towards the firewall side on the top of the motor. I have a video. The car has 114k I just changed the oil I thought maybe it's low but it's not and hasn't moved since it was changed.
View 4 RepliesI have a 1993 E350 Econoline-based RV. The blower motor intermittently makes a horrible whirring/buzzing sound, usually if on position 3 or 4 (high). Doesn't stop until I turn the HVAC to Off. The blower motor vibrates quite a bit while making this noise (verified with my hand). The problem occurs even if the engine isn't running. This started a few years ago, and has simply gotten worse.
Since it runs OK at the lower speeds (until the problems start with the higher speeds), I think that means I can rule out something simple like debris? Also, when the engine is under load (climbing hills, etc.), the blower fan cuts out. Could that be a resistor problem, or something else?
Took my car in for 10k mile service and let them know there has been some clicking noise coming from the front suspension when making a left/right turn...
I dropped off my car on September 21st and they have yet to complete my car... I've called them every single day since but, I don't get a good explanation from the dealer...
