Prius (2010-12) :: Passenger Side Seatbelt Beep Adjustment
May 17, 2012
I persuaded my dealer to do it. He gave me a verbal warning it was defeating a safety issue, but now there's just one beep but the light still flashes.

View 1 Replies2010 Ford F-150 Lariat crew cab ... Is there any way to adjust the door on the passenger side? It is not close all the way. When it rains hard it gets in the cab.
View 1 RepliesShut off the right front seatbelt beep? I asked Toyota, they will not do it. Do you need a OBDII II to do it?
View 1 RepliesAbout 3 weeks ago our Gen III (Prius III with Nav and Solar) began generating a single standard duration (maybe 1 second, similar duration to reverse beep) beep each time the driver's door is opened. It only occurs with the driver's door and happens whether the car is locked, unlocked, started or not. We had our reverse beep-beep converted to a single beep about 2 months ago and now this single beep is annoying each time we open the driver's door whether we are inside our outside of the car. We could not find anything in the user manual that described why this beep would continue occurring.
View 3 RepliesI know i should probably go to the dealer but just want to know what's going on before going there. Basicly someone kicked my passenger side seat, and now the AIRBAG OFF light is on and the seatbelt sensor for the passenger side is not working. i.e if i remove the seat belt while driving the sound wont come on and the light indicating seatbelt is not on (is always on).
View 3 RepliesI've had a few problems lately with water leaking into the vehicle. The second row passenger side seatbelt is getting soaked, and water can be seen dripping out of the small slot in the wall panel that the seatbelt comes out of. Of course, it all makes its way down to the floor, which gets soaked.
Luckily, I've got third row seating, so the second row passenger side seat flips up and I can get access to the floor and soak up the water with towels.
The leaking only seems to occur when the vehicle is parked with the front pointing uphill (even on very minor grades). I've tried, unsuccessfully, to replicate the problem with a hose, but I only have a level area to test in, and don't have any service ramps to get the front elevated.
From reading various posts on here, and elsewhere, it seems that there are a few possibilities:
- The "dam" that surrounds the sunroof to collect water and send it to the drains is overflowing and water is getting into the wall of the vehicle.
- The sun roof drains are plugged, which may be contributing to the dam overflowing
- The sun roof drain tube has become disconnected inside the roof or wall
Can the rear drain tubes are routed down the "B" or "C" pillar? Depending where they go, I may be able to eliminate a disconnected tube as the problem. I've also read that there was a service bulletin related to increasing the height of the dam, but haven't determined yet if it applies to my vehicle.
First week or so, the alarm was fine. It would go off if the passenger didn't have their belt on. Suddenly, it wouldn't shut off, even after the passenger put their seatbelt on. We went through the procedure to just disable it. It worked for a couple days.
Then it started going off again. It only happens if I have a passenger in the front seat. (I have two children in the back but they are in carseats and if it is just them and I, we have no problems, but if my husband is in the passenger seat - we have problems).
We went through the procedure to disable it and it didn't work this time. After more reading I realized the same procedure to disable it, enables it, too - sooo we did it a 3rd time to disable it, again. It worked.
Same trip, we got back in the car -everyone is buckled up and IT GOES OFF AGAIN!! I just want it disabled, period. It drives me crazy.
(It will stop dinging about 10 minutes into the drive but most my trips are under 10 minutes so that means all the time)
How to set the passenger side view mirror memory adjustment? I am unclear on a couple of things:
1) With the transmission in any position other than reverse, adjust the passenger side mirror as you like it.
2) Put the car in reverse, and adjust the same mirror to show you what you want to look at when you have the transmission in reverse.
3) Now press the appropriate seat memory buttons, to store that configuration as your 'driver preference', and the car will remember both settings.
Does #3 mean that you turn off the car leaving it in reverse? Leave it running - in reverse? And then you press "Set" and then the seat number button - and then "Set" again?
I have been using it a lot over the last 2 years since I bought my 2005 3.0 TDi. Love the car, have had a few issues but nothing major. I do now have an issue with the seat belt height adjustment in the passenger side. It will go down, but not up....slightly annoying as you can imagine. When I press the button to raise the belt, nothing happens. Seat are 18 ways ventilated massage seats.
View 3 RepliesMy driver side is higher than the passenger, how do you adjust the headlights?
View 5 RepliesThe owner's manual for my 2010 Camaro states that the passenger seat height can be adjusted by pumping the handle used to slide the seat forward and backward. However, pumping the handle does not change the seat height.
View 13 RepliesIn our 2010 rear center seat the belt will only come out a few inches and then stop like that's the end of it. It just got really cold here. We can't have our entire family go in the car now. This is a serious safety issue.
View 5 RepliesOur rear-center seatbelt receiver broke, so I bought a new one. I can not loosen the bolt that holds the bracket. Is it just really tight, or is there a trick?
View 5 RepliesCan the volume of the beep during locking the car be adjusted using VAGCOM? After 2.5 years of ownership it's getting a little annoying.
View 8 RepliesI'm trying to take a roadtrip in my parents Prius tomorrow, but when I got in it tonight to take it for a test drive the passenger side window refuses to go up.
View 9 Replies2011 Four - I changed both the engine air and the cabin air filters this week. Since then I am getting random chimes. These are low in volume and are in no way related to the obnoxious beeps from the seat belt and reverse warnings. Some of these chimes start out like the familiar pattern that some clocks make prior to ringing out the hours. Some of the chimes are only 2 or 3 notes long. There does not seem to be any pattern as to when these chimes come. There are no indications on the display panel. I am stumped.
View 19 RepliesI visited my dealer for something else, but I thought I'd take a chance and mentioned that my car (2010 III) had a passenger side rattle. He said that there was a TSB for that, and had a tech perform the fix. The rattle is gone. The TSB number is:
T-SB-0141-10
Upper/Lower Windshield/Rear Glass Tick Noise
The work consisted of the replacement of a couple of stoppers at the top of the windshield. I would not have guessed that this was the cause, but the rattle is gone (for two days, anyway).
I have a 2012 Prius 4 and I'd like to upgrade the passenger seat to a power one. Where to go about doing that? Is it even doable?
View 4 RepliesPassenger side light is not working. When the regular lights are on the bulb is not working, when the high beams are on, its working fine.
I guess this is called the headlight (H11 bulb).
This past weekend, the driver side passenger window does not go up or down. I tested my other window and they work perfectly fine. *Knock on wood* The window lock is off.
View 1 RepliesWe have a 2010 Prius Type 5 with about 18K miles. I've noticed at times that after having parked the car in the garage for several hours, that there is a soft "whirring" sound on the passenger side rear of the car. I'm assuming this is the battery fan, because it sounds like a fan and I can't think of anything else back there that would make a "fan"-like sound? Is there any other device back there that could make a "fan"-like sound while parked (it's cold weather here, so it's probably around 40 deg. F or less in the garage)? It makes this noise for 5-10 min. and then stops. If this is the battery fan, why would it run when the car is cold?
