View 1 RepliesIm very happy with the Prius that I have a 2010 V, its loaded with all of the options that were available at the time and I get a true 43 -46 mpg with my driving style and daily commute. The Prius averages more than twice the mileage I was getting with my other cars.
But I stumbled on the Lexus Cth and it seems its a Prius with a Lexus styled body and interior. The Lexus is a more conventional body style and seems to be a little better fit and finish on the interior but at a little less MPG. I tested a 2012 Cth with the F sport package over the weekend nd really liked it.
Does 17x8 off 48 will fit prius 2011 and not rubbing? if it does, what size tires should i get? 235 45?
View 19 RepliesI'm in the market for a Prius and I read on carcomplaints that the 2010 model has excessive oil consumption issues. When I searched for more info about this issue, it seems that it occurs in the other model years as well. I'm wondering if I should avoid the 2010 model when looking for a used Prius, or if the trend on carcomplaints is incorrect and this issue is no worse on this model year than others. Did Toyota switch to a different piston ring in this year or are they all the same in the gen 3s?
View 19 RepliesWhen to change the air filter for ICE? 10,000 mile? Does the Gen III need to change the transaxle fluid? if so, what is the service interval? I am putting a lot of miles on my new Prius. Really want it to serve a long time.

View 5 RepliesDrove about 200miles to see my daughter Saturday in college. Everything was ok I stopped for gas about 10 miles out of town on the highway then picked my daughter up for lunch. After we got back in the Escape and drove a few miles the wrench light come on and I lost power so I slowed and restarted it.
Everything work fine but I looked it up in the book and it said get it to service if this happens but hey it late Saturday and all in small towns were closed! After the college football game at about 9pm we left to go home on the highway just about 3-5 miles out of town it did it again lost power slowed then I restarted it ! Wrench light or power lost never came back on for the next 200 miles home! Could it just have been bad gas doing this or does the wrench light means big problems!
Will be going for the 5k tire rotation coupon in a couple weeks as I'm at 4700 miles right now (purchased car in August), but the check air filter screen keeps coming up when I switch the navigation. Why that might be? I thought those are usually replaced around 30k miles.
View 6 RepliesWas cleaning my car yesterday and noticed what looked like fluff through the battery vent in the rear seat.
View 7 RepliesAfter replacing the cabin air filter I heard a loud noise from the fan area in the car. I rechecked the installation which was ok. I then reached down into the fan assembly, and there was the problem, some leaves had fallen into the fan when I removed the old filter. Took out the leaves , and all is well.
I replaced the OEM filter with a Fram Fresh Breeze filter which interesting enough only had half as many folds. I figure a big company like Fram must know what they are doing?
How do I delete the check air filter message from the 2011 Gen 3 computer screen?
View 6 RepliesWhen I replaced the cabin air filter recently, I noticed the little latch loop on the left hand side bottom was broken. I just put it together and it does not rattle.
View 2 RepliesDid my own 30k oil filter change today after taking it to the dealership for 10k and 20k. What do you know, they over torqued the crap out of the filter that I had to use my 1/2" breaker bar and all my strength to remove it. After all of that somehow the oil filter tool (the typical one) ended up getting stuck to the oil filter cap. It was at a slight angle so it must have shifted as I was trying to loosen it with the breaker bar.
Well, spent the next hour trying to separate them with no luck. Didn't want to damage the filter housing, and since the tool was stuck on there good just decided to put it back on with the tool attached. Any concerns about leaving it on, other than it randomly falling off one day?
Hopefully I'll still find the tool attached next time I change my oil, maybe pick up an extra oil filter cap and tool just in case. Btw I changed it myself at 5k before doing the free changes at dealership. Another reason I won't let them touch my car again...
I watched a YouTube video on how to reset the maintenance message. Holding "ODO" then hitting start without foot on the brake didn't work like it did in the 2010 model year video. Something different for 2014?
View 3 RepliesIs there a dedicated button to quickly enable/disable this feature? 2014 model.
View 4 RepliesWhen we start the car, it goes to the Nav screen and the screen freezes up. We cannot do anything on the touch screen or even stop / start the radio using the button. We have to stop the engine and restart it to work normally. This happened a couple of times in the last two days. We have a Black / Black 2014 GX that we picked up last month.

View 7 RepliesI just picked my 2008 Prius up from the dealer after having 4 new tires put on, after a blowout. When I went to open the hatch to make sure my spare and tools were all put back, the hatch would not open. It's a keyless model and the doors all unlock when I put my hand underneath the handle and I can lock them with the black button but the hatch will not open. I manually opened the hatch, thinking maybe the technician got something stuck in the latch when he closed it but did not find anything to be there. Does it sound like the handle itself is bad or maybe an actuator? In my searches, I've found many cases where people have replaced the handle due to it "melting," but nothing similar to what I'm experiencing.
View 19 RepliesI am wondering if the 06 interior will directly fit in an 05? examples are door panels and dash components..basically I'd like to change from the brown to the black material found in 06+....
View 1 RepliesToyota gave me to much time and now I changed my mind. I was set on getting the basic model but hearing so many good things about the advanced model I would like an advanced now. My dealer doesn't think it is possible to switch out my basic for an orphaned advanced model. My basic should be at the dealer any day now.
View 8 RepliesI just got an android based LG phone from having an iPhone. I've paired my phone to my car and with the android I'm not able to browse my music library. With my iPhone I used to be able to browse all the albums and artists. Now I can't do any of that, I have to select the music through the phone. I was wondering if I'm missing something or if I'm just going to have to deal with this.
