Prius (2010-12) :: Lock / Unlock Beeper Location?
Sep 1, 2010
Where is it? I can't seem to locate it. It sounds like it's coming from inside the fuse box under the hood.

View 4 RepliesReplacing the beeper for the lock/unlock? I'd like one not like every other car in the lot. I always look around when another car beeps. Is it located in a good (accessible) place like the horns?
View 1 RepliesRecently, I've been having issues with my door locks. When exiting the car, and pressing the door lock on the outside handle, I would here the door lock solenoid fire once, then open, and the door would not lock. Same thing would happen when I used the FOB. The door would not lock. On occasion, I would get the door to lock, and stay locked by using the door lock inside the car when the door was open.
On the occasions when I did get the door locked, I then had issues unlocking. If I approached the drivers door to unlock the door, the car would just keep repeatedly beeping, and would not unlock the drivers door. But, the back door would unlock, so I could reach in, and open the drivers door from the back.
When I unlock my car using the fob key, it automatically locks again after around 30 seconds. Is this a common thing and can it be changed?
View 4 Repliesjust got a 2010 Prius (Australian base model), and looking for information on how to turn off the beeps when locking/unlocking the doors. I've found info on turning off the seat-belt warning beep, and changing the reversing beep to single by using the OBDII connector, but nothing on the CAN bus codes needed for the lock/unlock beeps.
View 13 RepliesDisable the beeper when put into reverse on your 2010 model? I did it on my 2005 model very easily, but cannot find the steps to take for various changes on the 2010 models.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius with about 51,000 miles on it. About a month ago the front passenger lock actuator began failing and wouldn't lock/unlock with the remote. I had to manually slide the lock shut before I exited the car or it would keep beeping when I pressed the lock button on the remote.
Well, now the driver's side door is doing the same thing. When I touch the front door handle (to unlock the doors) it beeps like 8 times while it tries to unlock all four doors. I have to open the back drivers-side door and manually unlock the front door so I can drive the car.
My passenger rear lock is no longer lock/unlocking via power. I had an issue with the driver front, but it was replaced under warranty. Since it's a 2007, it's certainly no longer under warranty.
View 12 RepliesJust hauled a twin mattress set on a 4 hour drive - naturally the tailgate was tied down, sort of half open. But why in heavens name does Toyota not let the beeping expire after a few minutes ? Of course I know the hatch is open !! Any way to defeat the door open beeper when carrying long loads?
View 10 RepliesMy Lexus RX 350 has a very low beep when I lock and unlock my doors. It was much louder before. I can only tell it's locker by the lights and not the sound
View 7 RepliesWhat is the range on your remote to lock or unlock your truck?
Mine is currently 30 +/- feet I recently replaced the remote batteries and saw no improvement.
On my Toyota it is 200 +/- feet easily..
I am just trying to determine if a trip to the dealer is needed.
I own a Hyundai Elantra 2015 SE, and was wondering if it has a door lock/unlock beeping sound. It doesn't beep at the moment when I lock and unlock it. I don't know if there is a setting or something. I've tried looking in the owner's manual, but found nothing.
I personally think it's a nice feature and would love to have it enabled in my car.
Miss the horn beep on my Murano when I locked or unlocked the RX doors. The RX blinks it's lights and I guess there is a dash beep (which I can't hear). I read and read and read the manual but can't find where I can customize to get a horn beep.
View 2 RepliesI would like to add lock unlock beep to my prius and finding the control wires for open and close? In addition the method (positive , negative trigger).
View 6 RepliesWhy wouldn't the touch sensitive lock/unlock on the driver and passenger doors not work? I verified that all doors are latched and windows are closed but when I touch the handle to lock the GX I get a long beep.
View 4 RepliesMy FOB doesn't work locking/unlocking my '06 prius. I use the embedded key to lock. When I want to lock it, I lock it from the inside.
a. I know the door lock actuator motors are not bad because I was able to lock it from the inside using the lock/unlock switch on the driver side door panel.
b. I checked the voltage on the AUX battery. It read 12.4v. So that is not the problem.
c. Key fob battery strength is good (I see the red LED every time I use the remote).
d. I don't have a SKS system so no switch exists to enable or disable the SKS under the steering.
While on a recent vacation, my sister-in-law, trying to do a good thing, washed my clothes but neglected to remove my FOB for my 2008 Prius. I returned home only to find that the FOB would not lock/unlock the doors.
I replaced the battery (the old one was reading only .03vDC) but still no remote lock/unlock.
How can you tell if the FOB is working since there is no "little red light" like I have seen mentioned by other owners
It looks as if the FOB should be watertight, is it? Any way to clean inside the FOB in case there is some corrosion? What should be my next step?
When I lock or unlock my Prius C with the handle or the key, it used to beep, now it no longer will beep, I've checked the doors and hood to make sure they are all shut and it will still not beep.
View 11 RepliesSecond time I've had this problem this winter. 2007 Prius, about 65K miles. When the outside temps go below 20 or so the car locks seem to not want to work. For example this morning temp was about 19, smartkey unlocked the car ok-took a couple of button pushes but it worked. Car started fine. Drove to work and after shut down couldn't lock the car. Smartkey didn't work, pushing the door button didn't work. Lock switch inside the car works, so I locked the doors except driver's then used the manual key to lock the driver's door.
I've checked the battery using the internal maintenance screens, no load voltage about 12.3V, Load voltage 11.7Volts, Charging voltage 14.3 volts. I know I'm due for a 12V battery with it being 5 years old and such, and I'm pretty sure a good cold day will kill it dead. But, other than the battery...
I am experiencing with my key fobs on my current 2004 Prius. The issue is that I am unable to unlock and lock the car via the SKS Remote, and I am only able to turn on the car via inputting one of the fobs into the slot to turn on the car.
View 19 RepliesAll other doors lock and unlock except drivers door. The drivers door can only be locked unlocked manually with your hand.
