My instrument panel glass stays fogged up for weeks after a rain. Shouldn't the dealer fix this with after only 14 months and under 3,000 miles ?

View 1 RepliesWe're new here and new Prius owners. We bought our '10 Prius IV in December. We absolutely love the car. Last week I went out to get in the car and noticed the dash instrument panel ( where it displays the mileage in time increments ) is all fogged up. How to un fog it?
View 1 RepliesWhen I am at a full stop, such as waiting at a stoplight, and I press hard on the brake pedal, the stability control light flashes on the instrument panel.
View 6 RepliesMy instrument cluster panel went out. I bought one on ebay and I would like to replace it myself. Is there a step by step video or a diagram that will show me how to take the dashboard off?
View 1 RepliesPulling out from the garage, the instrument panel is dim. The outside lights are auto on, the panel volume is on high. It takes about 20 minutes, it will click and then brightens up, this happens most days, but not always. What's that about?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 Prius with 285,000 miles on it, and I have NEVER had any problems with it, and I was VERY satisfied. Today when I woke up, I went to turn on my Prius to warm it up before we left for Christmas, and I noticed that the Speedometer, Gas Gauge, and Instrument panel did not light up. The Blinkers work, MFD works, and the Check engine light pops on and then off after I start the car. Even when my lights are on, the green light in the panel doesn't illuminate.
View 8 RepliesI am enamored of the Mercedes SL panorama roof. We all purchased convertibles to let the sun shine in so it seems sad that on those rainy days or snowy days-20 + inches is too much, to not be able to let the light in. Is there any way to add a glass panel to the removable roof? I would even consider putting it longitudinally like the new Nisan Maxima.
View 13 RepliesIt's hot and humid here in Illinois. Yesterday my wife was driving early in the morning with the AC on, and the windshield was fogging up on the outside. A pattern of spots showed up, and they persist after the wipers pass over the glass. They don't show up when the glass is dry, but on washing with windex they show up as the surface approaches dry.
Are these waterspots? Are they something else, like wax or oil? This is a 2010 matrix which we bought used about a month ago, so I don't know its car-washing-history, but it resided in Florida as a rental, I believe.
Or is there something else possible? Can the glass have gotten "de-laminated" enough to have some internal fogging?
How to to remove the side mirror glass? It's not in the Toyota manual book. What about the black frame that goes around it ?
View 19 RepliesGen3 2010, 15 months on the road, 62 000 km. While washing the car today I noticed that the rubber edge bonded to the sunroof glass is buckling/rippling/tearing. Cosmetic only, as far as I can tell - damage/wear doesn't permeate far enough down to cause a problem, I don't think.
View 2 RepliesI have a 77 Celica GT Liftback. The instrument panel bulbs are very dim, even with the dimmer turned all the way up. I replaced the clock bulb to see if it made a difference but it didn't.
View 6 RepliesThe small monitor between tac. and speedo. Everything is displayed except it is very dim.. How to correct this?
View 5 RepliesI thought I wouldn't have need of the defrost for several months yet, but today we had unusually cold rain and my windows soon fogged up. The fan (not a/c) was already running at a very low setting (one or two clicks only) when I depressed the defrost button. Roughly 15 seconds later, it was like a hurricane in the cabin! The fan moved to the highest setting all by itself. This did clear the windshield in seconds, but it was a bit disconcerting. This phenomenon repeated itself all three times that I engaged the defrost button. Is the defrost supposed to do that? I swear, the sudden change startled me so much, I hit my head on the ceiling of the cabin...
View 3 RepliesI bought a dsg golf tdi 2011 last week. this week, while i was driving, after a sudden jerk, some kind of transmission problem signal came up on the instrument panel. since then, the car will not pick up the 1st gear after a complete stop (nor other gear). I would have to restart the car to get it going. When i got back i noticed that there is some kind of oily liquid dripping down under the car.
what kind of action should i take? I called the dealer and am towing the car to the shop tomorrow. They are saying they would fix it but i think i deserve a refund or replacement at least. Seeing it break down in a week makes the car untrustworthy. plus, it would devalue the car as well, right?
Proud new owner of V8 Touareg here. I am hearing a faint "electrical" buzz from the 3" LCD Panel on the instrument panel. Noticeable while the engine is off, while engine is running, anytime the LCD panel is on. Dealer tells me this is a normal noise. Is this "normal" for the MFI?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe and wonder if the instrument panel lights only come on when the headlights are on? It sure is annoying not to have the instrument panel lit up.
View 3 RepliesThis has bothered me a while. I turn the instrument lights to max brightness, but they are very dim. I can see them, but they are all very dim.
View 6 RepliesAt once, all together three items on my VW Passat 2004 4Motion instrument panel stopped working:
a) engine coolant temperature gauge
b) fuel gauge
c) outside temperature digital display
What could be happening here. Does not look like a fuse issue...
Whenever I step on the brakes the lights on the instrument panel go out. When I take my foot off the brake they come back on. When I use the right blinker they blink. They do not blink when I use the left. What is this?
View 4 RepliesWhile driving the other day, the instrument panel flashed showing a bulb out. I pulled into my local auto parts store down the street figuring i blew a bulb, no biggie. When i got out all bulbs were working... So i let it go and figured the light would go out, and it did a couple hours later. Yesterday when my girlfriend was driving the tig home from work she called saying that the light came on again but the whole right headlight was out... Hi beam, low beam, fog light and turn signal.
So when she got home i checked the bulbs, they were fine so i figured i would pop the fuse box and what do you know the fuse for the right headlight was melted. the fuse below it (horn) was also melted but still worked. So i drove it to West Broad VW (where i bought it) told them what was wrong and sure enough they said the fuse box needed to be replaced. The worst part about it was the few technicians that were in the service area both new what was wrong when i pulled up... and said it has been a common problem for our tigs and jettas...
I was driving and instrument panel flickered on and off a couple of times then stayed off. Also now battery, about 1 year old, doesn't stay charged. Would it be short in wiring? Or what?
