Prius (2010-12) :: Windshield Wipers And Cigarette Lighter Plugs Don't Work - Fuses Blown?
Aug 19, 2011
We have a fleet of Prius's with 11k miles on them. Windshield wipers don't work and cigarette lighter plugs don't work. I'm guessing this is due to blown fuses. Where the fusebox is? I'm getting fed up with this. Also, is there a diagram somewhere that shows which fuses are for which circuits? (IE Which number fuses protects windshield wiper circuit) so I can finally see in the rain...

So I have an Android smartphone. That I always put on the charger in my 2005. However. I have blown the fuse to the cigarette lighter. Both the one in the center console and the one under the passenger side dashboard.
The last time that happened. I bought the indicated 15 Amp fuse (as the Owner's Manual indicates - vaguely) Only to find that swapping out fuse 20 IIRC. Yielded no power to those ports.

In my 2007 SF Ltd 3.3L both the Cig lighter and front console power outlet keep blowing fuses. I've checked inside the of the sockets and they seem just fine. This is no big deal but I would like to charge my phone. What I should look at next?

I'm new to volvo, recently I got a 240 wagon 1991 (207000km)
The old Radio is dead and I'm thinking of replacing it with a new one, My rear wiper is not working and the cigarette lighter is dead too, I hear that the rear wiper , radio, and cigarette lighter are all connected to the same circuit, is that true?
Will I have any problems installing the radio or I should just follow the radio's installation manual and it will work ?

The cigarette lighter adapter inside the center console of my 2010 Prius (next to the USB/iPod and AUX plugs) does not appear to be working, although the adapter underneath the gear shifter works fine. A few weeks ago, I found some coins, which I keep inside that center console that had gotten wedged inside the cigarette lighter adapter cavity. It was after removal of those coins that I first learned that the adapter was not working (I tried a few different devices to make sure that it was the adapter itself not working).
From reading the web, it sounds like the fix may be as simple as replacing the fuse. From what I understand, the fuse is just above the emergency parking brake. If so, where do I purchase a new fuse and how much does a new fuse cost? Also, how do I know which fuse needs replacing? Is that in the instruction manual?

I have a 2005 camry le, but just now the power outlet doesnt work. I have checked multiple items in both the outlets, but none of them work. I checked the fuses, but they all look fine. The items work in other cars, just not this camry.

I just bought a 2012 Prius 3 and sold my wife's BMW 3. I still have my X5 though and one of the convenience I'm missing in the Prius is having the cigarette lighter adapter always supplying power even though the ignition is in 0 position and key out of the socket as in my X5.

There I was driving down the road, minding my own business. My phone was charged full so I reached to disconnect the car charger and the tip fell off the charger and shorted out my cigarette lighter socket. My owners manual does not show where the fuse is located in the fuse box? It does not mention the "lighter fuse" by name......
I called the Ford Dealership parts department where I purchased my Lariat and was told I he could not nor would not tell me which fuse is blown. Everything else seems to work. Haven't tried my sync lately, better do that. Where the fuse is? My fuse box is inside engine compartment by the radiator.

I need to replace the cigarette lighter in the centre console under the armrest. Is there a fuse for the socket itself? I have tried finding the fuse for the CIG, but this seems ok, yet there is no power going to it. there is power for the CIG going to the front cigarette lighter (under the touch navi screen) though.

My fuse controls cigarette lighter has apparently stopped working. I use it to charge my phone on trips. I had plugged in an inverter in an attempt to run a small fridge (for camping) and maybe that blew it out. The inverter didn't work but I could run it directly off the battery terminals. that was too much work and there were bears around anyway so I bagged the project.

Since we got the prius in October, I have noticed that the lighter socket won't work properly. I have tried multiple chargers and some work, some don't. The ones that don't work in other cars just fine.
My theory is that the plug is too shallow for the socket and doesn't make good contact. The one that doesn't work looks like this:

My father in law has a 2011 Prius -3 - with 135,000 miles on it. He has an interesting issue. The front windshield wipers work on low and medium. When he tries to put them on high, the wipers barely moves. When I drop the stalk back at med or low and it works as if nothing is wrong. I have checked the 30amp fuse and it looks fine. I do not hear any grinding or noise when the wipers are working. I think it could be the motor. However before I go out and purchase the motor, I wanted to make sure there was anything else I could be missing... The dealer wanted 340 for parts and install.. .I know I can do the job myself as I have worked on their other Prius - 2005 with 240,000 miles and counting.

I have a 2006 Camry LE. About a year or so ago, my cig lighter power went out (both dash and arm rest.) I replaced the fuses for the Cig and Power Point and they worked again.
Well, they've gone out again. I replaced both of those fuses again and it's a no go. Still not working.
Is there any other fuse it could be? What might have happened here? I'm really hoping it's not a huge expensive fix. It's a huge pain not being able to charge anything, and I was just about to start driving for Uber too. I really need these back online.

Every couple of days, my 20 amp cigarette lighter fuse (#13) will blow. It is connected to the lumbar seats, the cigarette lighter, the interior door lock switches (not the key FOB - that is separate). I've tried using a 25 amp and that didn't work.

I had a new windshield installed today. After the install was completed, I checked the wipers, and they no longer work. I called the installers, they came back and took the arms off and put them back on. All wires appear connected, though I have not checked voltage. I have no rain sensor. The rear wiper still works. It's an oem windshield...

Started the car up this morning, went to turn on the windshield wipers to remove dirt from the window and they did not turn on. What possibly could be the issue?

A dealership is attempting to charge me several hundred dollars to replace blown fuses that they claim is a result of an overpowered attempt at charging a seemingly dead 12V battery. The interesting part is that after also replacing the air/fuel ratio sensor (which they initially claimed was the cause of a check engine light even after replacing the fuses) Toyota is telling them that the ECM should be replaced in order to extinguish the check engine indicator.
